Armaan was totally soaked. He was dripping. A cool wind blew his already damp hair and water droplets fell on his face. He closed his eyes. Riddhima's beautiful, wet face floated in front of him. It was getting cold outside. But inside he was feeling warm, warmer than he had felt in the last few days. Only now, he realized how cold he had been feeling all the time he was mad at Riddhima. Now he felt something lift off his chest, making his heart lighter. He opened his eyes and looked at Riddhima, who was looking at him like a scared kid. She was adorable. He wanted to protect her, protect her innocence from the rest of the world and let no other Vivek within seeing distance of her. He wanted to be there with her, to watch her every minute, in case harm comes her way again. However, he couldn't do so within reason. All he could do was take off his jacket and wrap it around Riddhima. He did not dare look at her again. If he had then he might've done something he would regret later. He closed his eyes again. Riddhima was there just behind his closed eyelids.
Yes, he had done something good. He had just helped Riddhima. Saved her, he thought. He liked the sound of it. It was heroic. He was a doctor. He was trained to save people but saving Riddhima was different from what he would experience if he had saved a patient's life. Riddhima's life was not in danger. But something more precious than that was, he reminded himself. And he was happy to be the one to save it. It gave him a sense of intimacy with her, something he had unknowingly yearned for, for the last few days. He had been close with her before she had sent him to jail, closer than anyone had realized, closer than he had realized. He desperately wanted to call her basket once more, just to feel that intimacy, but didn't know how to. He had to keep up his front of being mad at her. After all, he couldn't just go from being mad to admiring in just a few seconds, could he? Even if that was what really happened, he thought.
"Armaan," Riddhima's melodious voice filled his ears.
He must have been imagining it. First her face, now her voice. Something must be terribly wrong with his senses. The cold must be getting to him. He must get into his car. He left the scene and got into his car. He drove fast. Still he couldn't get rid of the Riddhima's water dripping face from his mind. He drove back into the area again, just to get the feel of her. Only then did he realize what he had done. In all his thoughts about Riddhima, he had forgotten that the girl was really there and everything was not just his imagination. He had left the girl alone again, in the dark, wet night on a deserted road. He mentally slapped himself. He then brought his car up to where Riddhima was standing, completely shaking, with his jacket clutched tightly around her body.
"Come on, I'll drop you home," he said mentally yelling at himself again for being so stupid.
Riddhima slowly came around and climbed onto the front seat. Silent tears were dropping from her eyes. She was looking at Armaan, as if expecting him to say something, anything. But he didn't know what else he could say to comfort her. Oh, how he wanted to comfort her. How he wanted to tell her it was okay, he was not mad at her, he never could be, and he had realized that just now. He wanted to tell her she need not be afraid as long as he was there, he would protect her but words didn't form. He didn't have right words and even if he tried, he would fail miserably. So he just left it unsaid.

Kind of drastic, I know. You might think that Armaan could never feel all that so soon but it would be nice if he did, wouldn't it? So imagination has no boundaries, guys.
