Is it true?
It is the curse of the desirables. If they are beautiful, successful, and worse, very promising together, something will probably play spoilt sport. We saw that with Madhubala and Dilip Kumar, Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai and Ranbir Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha. The reason? A failed romance mostly, or some kind of a business spat. But tragedy is when it is none of the above.
Most of you might remember a bright sunny afternoon when your social media platforms were abuzz about a fair young lady who was chosen to be SRK's next lead. Mahira Khan is Pakistan's latest export to Bollywood, joining the long list of star hopefuls to pack their bags and come to tinsel town to try their luck. While their collective future here is still in the doldrums, talent and beauty cannot be reasons for the same. Like the ones before her, Mahira Khan is also blessed with a charming smile, a pleasant face, and if her past laurels are to be believed, oodles of talent. So when she was signed to star opposite SRK in Raees, we decided to resuscitate our Pakistani sources.
One of the first things we bumped into was a fun interview featuring Mahira and Bollywood's unofficial Prince Charming, Fawad Khan, on the internet. Now for the ones living under a rock, in Pakistan, Fawad is as big as the Khans are here. His unassuming charm, effortless swagger and cultivated conversation, has already wooed the Begums and Banos in the same fashion as it currently is working on the desi girls. His movie with Sonam Kapoor may not have impressed the critics but somehow, Fawad has achieved his covert mission. He is being pursued by YRF and Dharma Productions, while he has another movie with Sonam in the pipeline. So it is safe to say we will be seeing more of this young man here.
But, a huge pity that both of the actors we mentioned above, aren't too happy seeing each other. Our sources from Pakistan have informed us that Pakistan's most beloved on-screen jodi, are actually at war!
Fawad and Mahira, are actually a hit pair. Their drama Humsafar has been credited to revive Pakistan's ailing television industry, all thanks to their on-screen chemistry. No surprise that they were approached for a movie, Bin Roye (adaptation of a novel, Bin Roye Aansoo, by Farhat Ishtiaq) to be directed by Haissam Husain. Everything went well until the film reached the shooting stage. The whole crew along with the leads, Mahira and Fawad, were to leave the next day to board the flight to US, where the filming was scheduled. The night before the flight, Fawad decided to back out of the project, leaving the entire team in a frenzy.
Our sources claim that Fawad has never been so unprofessional in the past. However, this time around, it was his wife who decided to coax her husband into bowing out of the project. Apparently, Fawad and Mahira's pairing for the second time, didn't go too well with his wife, Sadaf. Not comfortable with her husband spending an entire extended schedule with Mahira in America, she made sure Fawad opted out of the project at the last minute. Jealousy can be a bitch, after all.
This development, we hear, has infuriated Mahira. Insulted and disrespected by Fawad's unprofessionalism, Mahira has decided never to work with her popular co-star ever. Now that she too is making an entry in Bollywood, we wonder how long can they look past each other at filmy parties and social events. Bin Roye meanwhile saw Humayun Saeed play the lead opposite Mahira, and should release sometime in July this year. Both meanwhile have their daggers drawn, the result of which, we are yet to see.
