Chapter Two
Kabir's POV
I was unable to hear the conversation going on between my daughter and her best friend. I hope it was not about me because this girl, Ananya, but is definitely up to something.she was so transparent that I could read that she is infatuated with me. And it is not a good sign. Firstly she is way too younger than me. And secondly she she is my daughter's best friend. But the bottom line is I have been uncomfortable the moment she came to live with us. The feelings that she steered inside me were alien. The way she looks at me the way she behaves in front of me I can clearly feel her growing infatuation. I have tried my best to keep myself away from her. But it was the most difficult task given in consideration that she was living with us and she is like a second skin of my daughter. Which means there ever my daughter goes she follows whether it is shopping malls or my room. I have tried for a month to keep a really to be cold towards her but now I can see a different glimmer in her eyes and I know that the girl is hopelessly falling for me.
Kavya was a little more enthusiastic than she usually is. The moment she hugged me I have a feeling that she gave a knowing smile to my best friend. Ananya as usual stayed rooted on her position and looked at me as if she wanted to be there in my arms. The realisation is pretty uncomfortable. It is not the first time I have got that vibe from her. Everytime I hug Kavya I see hope glitter in Ananya eyes. Like she wanted to be had by me.
"Daddy, your home. Does that mean you're going to take us for shopping?"
"As promised princess".
"I love you so much dad. You have no idea how excited I am today", I did not miss the wink she gave ananya.
A cute shade of red crept from her neck and filled her cheeks. She blushed furiously and looked down. I would be dammed if I didn't appreciate her innocence. She just looked adorable the way she blushed. She shifted from one leg to the other maintaining her downcast eyes. And then she did the thing that drives me crazy. She bit her lower lips. When ever she is nervous she did this gesture and she did it in front of me more often. I think I intermediate her somehow. Maybe because of the difference I'm not sure but I never intend to intimidate her.
"Annie, why the hell are you standing there go and get ready. Did you hear that dad is taking us for shopping?"
"So Ananya is going to join us?" Damn, that came out so wrong. Her eyes snapped up and mate mine. Thousands of questions swimming on the surface of her beautiful brown eyes. The blast that adored her face dreams almost immediately those words came out of my mouth.
"Erm! I think I will stay at home today." He stammered and eas I think I will stay at home today." I hear her stammer. "why don't you guys go ahead. I want to complete the novel I have started reading".
"Are you kidding me? You are going with us Annie", Kavya put your hands on her hips. "Duh! Now hurry up and go get ready".
"Daddy, do you want to change or you want to take us there wearing this suit?" She eyed me. And I realise that I was still wearing my office clothes.
"Okay, let me go and change my you guys come down once you're done. And we are eating out. So I hope you ladies are up for it".
"Eeeks, I'm totally starving".
"Then my dear Princess the party is on".

Ananya's pov
"How about this kavz", I watch it to the mirror. She wasn't paying attention towards me and was flipping the magazine she is currently engrossed with. I halved a shy and turn towards her. "You said you were going to help me out", I almost told your accusingly. "And here you are flipping through your magazine and ignoring me", I complaint pouting my lips.
She kept the magazine with a thud and stood up from the chair. "Are you kidding me Annie? This is the sixth dress you're showing me. And no matter what I say you are never going to be satisfied. Dude this isn't to date. Sadly his daughter is tagged along with you. So can you just make it quick sweetie I promise you the day when you go on the first date with him I will be the one who will dress you up. And trust me he won't be able to take his eyes of you".
I was resigned. I know what she said is true. This isn't a date. I should stop worrying and get going. In any case I don't have many dresses to impress him. But I cannot look lousy. I know he is around those posh females decide whom I'm just nobody. Not that I can do much but at least I can dress up so that he notices me. I pouted at the thought. No matter how much I try to gather is the tension I fail miserably. He never looks at me unless I am with Kavya. If I am around him without Kavya he won't bother to look up and acknowledge my presence. I guess I'm too plain for him. And now that I can show my interest in front of Kavya because I have already told her about my feelings to words Kabir, I can try to dress up. I looked at my blue sundress and admired it. It was the only decent girly dress I have. I am a total jeans girl. And moreover I like to dress up like a boy. Because whenever I wear something girly people notices me and that bothers me. Since I was 13 and then the guys looked at my changing figure I switch to 2 size bigger tops and loose fitted jeans which can cover up my body. But since Kabir happened I feel like dress like a girl. Probably that is the very reason why he never looked at me but today I promised myself that I am going to get his attention at any cost. I hope he notices me in this dress. I did the dress and go and change. I stand in front of the mirror and do my eyes and then apply a glossy balm on my lips. I admit that make up is not my thing but I know that if I have to impress him I need to be those high society woman with whom he probably mixes.
"Oh my god Annie, you just look gorgeous. I had no idea that you have such a sexy curves. Let me look at you", Kavya twirled me around and looked at me up and down. "You have dressed to kill". I was thrilled that Kavya approves of my looks because she is very girly and she knows how to dress up so if I get compliment from her then I must have done something right. The excitement within me reach the top. I just can't wait to see his reaction after he sees me in this dress.

I was following Kavya while coming down from the room to meet Kabir who was waiting for us downstairs. I don't know what happened she just turned and Kavya went behind me. I saw him opening his mouth but then he just to be like that looking at me...erm maybe Kavya I don't know. I frigate with the hem of my dress and look down feeling nervous. For a good few seconds nobody spoke and then I was about to fall. Oh. My. God. I never thought Kavya will pull this stupid stunt on me. She pushed me from behind and I missed my step and was about to fall when a pair of strong arms held me captive. A chill ran down my spine The moment is strong fingers encircled my pretty thin form. I looked up at him gathering my balance and his eyes locked with mine. I know Kavya said oops I'm sorry but it seemed like those words didn't registered as far as me and Kabir was concerns. It was like the time stood still and both of us didn't want to move forward. Maybe I was reading a bit more than I should be but you cannot blame me because I was madly in love with this guy. And everything around me looks romantic. Just like the films have slow motion I saw him open his mouth and utter "You took my breath away".
"I mean you are about to fall and I thought you were going to hit the ground that's why I got a little panicky".
Whatever excitement had built up the moment he said that I took his breath away was sloshed away when he justified his statement. The romantic mind which performed a little jingle stopped abruptly and hit the reality.
I compose myself and stood up during myself from his hold. Immediately I felt the loss of warmth. I was so right about him. No wonder he looks warm because he feels warm and I can be in his arms forever doing nothing but loving him.
"Oh daddy I thought your complementing Annie. Doesn't she look beautiful. I have never seen her in a dress and I think she looks amazing", Kavya chirped holding me sideways.
"You should be careful while climbing down the stairs. What were you thinking?"
"I'm so sorry I think you should blame my shoes inside of me daddy. Something got stuck underneath and I happen to get this balanced. Thanks Annie if it wasn't you I would've fallen. And will you cannot complain because dad had what you on time ".
"After your back from your school you have changed princess".
"Trust me that annie will never complain about this fall. I guess this is the first time she fell into somebody's arms. Annie I'm going to ask you about this later on once dad is not there", she winked me making me flashed.
I saw Kabir become uncomfortable and then turn towards the door and walk out without any words. Shit! I hope you didn't overdo it. And I hope he isn't mad. Damn he looks mad.
