Does it take two to tango?
• "Oh yes! It takes a combined effort on stage to synchronise steps. In fact, the chemistry needs to be right on stage for the steps to be right."
Who's calling the shots?
• "Sai is a better dancer while I am more into shimmying at marriage functions, and like to dance all by myself ", reveals Shakti. "But we both are struggling, and are learning the finer nuances", lets in Sai.
How do you intend to floor the 'Nach Baliye' judges?
• "Wink, wink, wink," says Sai. "We'll have a moolah-sharing deal with the judges," adds the couple on a lighter note.
Apart from each other, who'd you fancy shakin' your booty with?
• "No, never with anybody else," says Sai with a blush and Shakti echoes the sentiment, though qualifies it by saying, "Five years down the line, the situation could well change (laughs)."
Bull dose! Paso Doble
History: Paso Doble, meaning two step in Spanish, originated in Spain, and came into fashion in the 1920s. An aggressive, high energy theatrical dance depicting the bullfight, it requires the man to play the part of matador with the lady as his cape. It's a very masculine dance where the man is more centrestage than his female partner. However, it is more a competition than a social dance.
Mood: The male needs to display an arrogant, proud and aggressive stance which is amply matched by the female.The mood is one of challenge and machismo, and the air is thick with dramatic poses, leaps, stomps, and loads of attitude. Dress code: Red, black, and gold are colours of this dance. Latino trousers and matador jacket for the man, and long, frilly skirt and lace headgear for the woman.
