Chapter: 31

Raman was feeling restless again after keeping the phone thinking why was Ishita crying and what is it Vandu wanted to talk to me about. Mihir comes inside the cabin to get a signature from his bhai and sees him in deep thought.

Mihir asks bhai what is troubling you Raman stares at Mihir thinking how god has blessed me with so many good people in my life. Raman realizes even though he is the one elder by years but Mihir patience, his cool head and sensible nature always helped him. He is the one whom he trusts most as he was with him throughout his dark phase even when he left the whole family behind Mihir made it a point to stick with him. He is also the only one who knows how much my life has turned around with Ishita presence and what value Ishita has in my life.

Mihir shakes Raman calling bhai what happened why are you staring at me what is the matter I am getting worried. Raman gets up from his chair and gives him a tight hug saying thank you for being in my life as light when they were darkness all around me at that time. Mihir is touched by Raman behavior he knows his bhai has always loved him but has difficulty in expressing his inner emotions very well.

Mihir asks why are you are to trying to shame me I did what anyone in my position would have done. Raman says to him no one could have done what you did like giving up your family so that you could keep an eye on me so that I did not fall into a pit from where I could never come out. Mihir says bhai you are my family where will I go leaving you but tell me what is troubling you because when I came in you were in deep thought.

Raman says to him nothing I was just thinking about how my life has turned with so many twists and turns I feel contented now. Mihir says yeah with Ishtia bhabhi by your side your life will be a bed of roses. Raman playfully hits him calling bhabi ka chamcha. Why did you come into my cabin? Mihir shows him the document Raman signs it and says to him I am going home now as we don't have any meetings schedule you can look after the office. Mihir teases his bhai saying who is the chamcha now? you could not stay away from my bhabi for few hours. Raman glares at him and says to him this is my office I can come and go whenever I wish. Mihir smiles at him and ducks out of the office before his bhai could blast him for the cheeky smile.

Raman calls Vandu asking her can she meet him now in a coffee shop. Vandu says yes she will come in another half-hour. Amma comes back from the temple and gives prasadam to both of them and looks at Ishita who is happily chatting away with her sister and prays to god to keep her happy like this always. Vandu then tells to her amma that she is going out for about an hour and will come back later Ishita says to her she will also come with her. Vandu says to her I am going with my husband on a date. Ishita teases her by saying to her but he is my boyfriend so I will also come. Vandu teases back saying to her you can go with your boyfriend some other time this is a date with my husband so nobody is allowed with me so saying she leaves the house but Ishita makes her promise to call her when she reached the coffee shop Vandu agrees and leaves.

Vandu calls Bala and says to him that she is going to talk with Raman and she has told everybody in the house she is going on a date with him so he should not come to the house or call them. Bala asks is anything serious why do you want to talk to him alone without anyone knowing Vandu says to him I am going to talk about Ishita with him. Bala asks are you sure about it? Vandu says yes and I will tell you everything when you come in the evening. Bala understood Vandu is tensed with something so to make things lighter and to bring a smile on her face he says to her are you really going to meet Raman or a cute boyfriend you know I am still the handsome man in town I am Bala 24. Vandu laughs hearing this which makes him glad as he wanted to hear her laughter. Vandu teases him back saying I might look for a younger model in the coffee shop as they have lot of them there. Bala says you can always look but you are not allowed to bring anyone home Vandu and Bala talk and tease each other for a few more minutes. Once Bala made sure that Vandu is alright he says bye to her and keeps the phone.

Raman reached the coffee shop first scouted the area and chose a secluded sport where he can talk privately without being overheard by people and waits for Vandu to come. Vandu reaches the coffee shop finds Raman sits opposite to him asking him to be quiet and calls Ishita saying that she has reached the shop when Ishita asks to talk to Bala Vandu says to her he still has not come and will ask him to talk to her after their date in done.

Raman raises an eyebrow with this bizarre conversation Vandu is having with her sister Vandu says to him Ishita wanted to come with me as she did not want me to go anywhere without an escort as if I am child so I made up a story of being on a date with Bala as I wanted to talk to you alone without Ishu.

Raman asks why all the secrets and tell me first why my Ishita was crying. Vandu is glad to hear the possessiveness in Raman for Ishita. She asks him to tell her what he knows about Ishita. Raman asks why everyone knows what I know about her. Vandu tells to her humor me please and tell me what you know about her.

Raman says my JRK is a fighter, she loves everybody and cares for everyone and she is a very good mother. Vandu asks him how is she as a wife. Raman is surprised by her question but says she is the best thing that ever happened to me. Vandu goes into her professor mode and question him further even after what happened after last night. Raman is embarrassed and surprised by Vandu question. Raman gets angry and tells to her I am not your student you can ask any question and I will tell you all the answers something's are between husband and wife that is how it should remain I won't dignify it with an answer but I will tell you she is the best wife a man could ever asks for and starts to leave the table.

Vandu is glad hearing Raman answer but holds his hands and says sorry asking him to sit. Raman I had to asks some embarrassing questions to you but I wanted to know how you feel about Ishita don't feel angry on Ishita for telling me what happened last night I probed her into telling me what happened I am glad I did that because I could talk to you about it now to heal her.

Raman anger slowly melts away as he realizes that Vandu is not here for just gossip but is also worried about his madrasan .Vandu takes a few breaths and says to him you might not like what I am going to say to you but you need to know why she behaved like that yesterday.

You never knew about her childhood she was a happy child in the beginning after she was admitted to a hospital due to her illness she lost most of her childhood as amma was always hovering over her just to protect her but that made it difficult for her to mingle with other children so most of the time she ended up with me but I resented having my small sister tag along with me all the time so I used to leave her alone at home so she grew up with very few friends.

When we got married Subbu came into Ishu life initially I was happy because of him she started enjoying her life but slowly he started molding her to behave in a way which he wanted Ishu likes were never taken into consideration the more I came to know about Subbu the more I disliked him because he was almost a carbon copy of his mother but I never told my feelings about him to anyone as I felt Ishu was happy with him but till to date I regret my decision I should have told Ishu what Subbu was like. Rama controls his anger for Subbu takes Vandu hands in a comforting gesture. Vandu continues without realizing the small gesture of comfort she is receiving from Raman that is one of the reason I don't mind Ishu flirting with Bala because it makes her happy and brings a smile on her face. Ishu gave up on all her small wishes to make Subbu happy she is the one who always compromised in their relationship to make him happy.

On their engagement day she fainted and we came to know that there is a possibility that she might not be able to conceive. Subbu rejected her claiming that she is not a complete woman if she is not able to give birth to a child then amma became crazy wanting Ishu happiness she paraded her in front of everyone but everyone rejected her due to her inability you also married her for Ruhi custody only in the beginning which unknowingly made her feel like she is not a desirable women to men.

Raman is feeling guilty now that numerous times without knowing he had taunted her stating that she is not a desirable woman just to keep him from getting affected by her beauty.

Vandu continues her conversation with him without understanding Raman inner turmoil she says to him the best thing that could have happened in her life is she met you. Raman is surprised to hear that he asks her why. Vandu replies I get to see a new Ishu who fights with you all the time and gives back as good as she gets and not meekly giving into your wishes to please you as she would do with other persons. You are special to her as she is behaving like herself with you. She has accepted you into her life fully. She is really happy with you. She loves you and Ruhi unconditionally but she is still thinking that as Shagun was in your life who is very beautiful she is worried that she might not be able to satisfy your needs and once again will be rejected that is the reason she is behaved that way.

Raman curses aloud pagal madrasan doesn't she understands how much I love her and need her in my life. Vandu says to him understand from her point of view she loves both you and Ruhi unconditionally but thinks if not for Ruhi you will not be with her. You have to make her believe she is a desirable women and you love her very much independently of Ruhi and make her realize that she is in love with you not Ruhi papa. She is going to take lot of time to get to that level of intimacy and accept you as an individual person and not as a package with Ruhi. Will you be able to wait for her and make her come out of her insecurity even which she is not aware of?

Raman says to hear don't worry whatever may or may not happen between us she is my wife her physical and mental health is my priority I will take care of it don't worry about my Ishita I am there for her.
