Sunny Leone beats Sonam, Kangna, Vidya, Anushka & Bipasha at BoxOf

Last week's release Ek Paheli Leela is holding its position strong at box office. The film's collections have been very impressive in its Opening Weekend. In fact the Sunny Leone starrer has been receiving good response from the masses despite being an 'A' certificate film, owing to the positive word of mouth.

In this Box Office report, we take a look at the collections of Ek Paheli Leela while comparing them to that of previously released Women Centric films. In fact with Ek Paheli Leela topping both the charts, highest Opening Day and Opening Weekend collections, Sunny Leone has managed to out beat her contemporaries like Sonam Kapoor, Kangna Ranaut, Vidya Balan, Anushka Sharma and Bipasha Basu. In hind sight, Neha Dhupia had once said that in Bollywood it's just two things that sell, Shah Rukh Khan and Sex. Looking at the numbers posted by the collections of Ek Paheli Leela, we guess Sunny Leone just proved Miss Dhupia right.

But with Sunny Leone creating a far greater pull at the box-office than her contemporaries, we wonder whether the actress' box-office charms are short term and can the competition afford to ignore her. To know more about the trend that Sunny Leone has become in Bollywood, we spoke to Marketing President of T-Series, Vinod Bhanushali, who says, "Sunny Leone did create a good pull for the audiences. Also the film's music was a major attracting factor, add to that, the smart budgeting of the film; all this has contributed to Ek Paheli Leela doing well at the box-office. As for having that pull with the audience, yes Sunny does have it, but then each actress has her own kind of charm and attraction. Like Vidya Balan is associated with a certain kind of cinema and has more pull over the audience in that as compared to others. In this genre it is Sunny."

Further talking about whether Sunny Leone is a name to contend with in forthcoming days Vinod adds, "See right now Sunny is drawing the audience's attention, and I guess, she will continue to do so. In Bollywood if an actor's films work, he / she cannot be ignored, but if they have a couple of back to back flops, then at times that individual is totally written off."
