Twelve

One week later, Randhir had to begin his placement at a firm in Delhi. Prior to this, he tried to call them and ask them to place him in a Mumbai branch instead, but they refused saying their Mumbai branch had enough employees and wasn't hiring.

Sighing, Randhir thought that he would begin working there and do such a wonderful job, so that his branch transfer request would be approved.

As time passed, Randhir completely forgot about Mumbai. He got used to the company and it took a piece of his heart - he really enjoyed working there. Soon, Sanyukta Agarwal became a distant memory. Even FITE became a distant memory.

Eight months later they were to have their graduation ceremony with a class reunion, and when he got the invitation for the ceremony, he remembered Sanyukta.

Shit.

He told her he'd find her in Mumbai, and here he was in Delhi, having a great time, not even attempting to transfer to her.

How could he go to the graduation ceremony? He wouldn't be able to face her. No... it was better that he just didn't go.

So Randhir didn't go to his graduation ceremony. He continued to work for his firm until he gathered enough experience, and with one of his co-workers Rehaan, he decided to start his own company.

"Where do you want it to be?" Rehaan asked Randhir two years after they had begun their job in Delhi.

"Mumbai," Randhir said immediately - something about that city was familiar.

"Why Mumbai?" Rehaan asked.

"There's a market for growth," Randhir told Rehaan. "We'll start off there and then expand to different cities."

Rehaan nodded.

"Okay," Rehaan said. "We just need a good location now."

"I'll take care of that," Randhir told him with a smile. "I'll go there and look for different locations, and I'll send you pictures of each one. You handle the work here."

Rehaan nodded.

"Fabulous," he said, flashing Randhir his biggest smile. "This is going to be great."

"Yeah," Randhir agreed, and his thoughts immediately drifted to Mumbai.

His heart had told him to pick Mumbai, but the reasoning was a vague memory for him... it had something to do with a college promise, but that promise had no effect on him anymore. College was over, and so were those promises.

Thirteen

One week later, he went to Mumbai. He checked into his hotel and went to the first location he was prospecting.

After he checked the place out, he was sending Rehaan the pictures, while sitting in a coffee shop.

Rehaan called him and Randhir picked up.

"The lcoation is nice," Rehaan said over the phone.

"Yeah I liked it too, but I should continue to check out more of them," he told Rehaan.

"I agree, it's good to look at some variety. By the way how is Mumbai? You're all alone there aren't you?" Rehaan asked.

"It's nice," Randhir said, "Very busy, but nice."

"Where are you right now?"

"In a coffee shop," he told Rehaan.

"Ah, okay, take care of yourself. I have a friend there if you need help... I think you should take the help, since looking at all these locations and finalizing will take a while," Rehaan explained. "He'll also be able to find you a place to stay."

"I don't mind staying in a hotel," Randhir told Rehaan.

"I know you don't, but the hotels are very overpriced... and I know you don't care about money, but it eventually adds up. Listen to me and let him help you," Rehaan told Randhir.

"Fine," Randhir said with a sigh.

"Alright, I'll speak to you later," Rehaan said and then hung up.

As soon as Randhir hung up, the server came up to him and placed a cup of coffee in front of him.

"I didn't order this," he told the server politely. "You must have made a mistake."

"No sir, someone ordered it for you," she told him.

"Who?" Randhir asked, confused.

"The lady in the black dress," the server said, glancing towards the entrance.
