Fancy dress competition was started and every student was appreciated by the parents and also by the school authorities for their choice of profession and the costume. Vansh was appreciated by one and all for his brave words and the confidence in his words and posture. His parents were too proud to that they started boosting with other parents about him by saying "the dare devil attitude, courage and passion towards IPS is in his blood and from the day he started recognizing the people, he had been telling everyone that he would like to be a police Officer and serve the nation". Then came Ved with his Halwai dress and ojn stage he prepared some luddos and gave them to the judges. Everyone started whistling and tried to degrade him by saying; he is son of a halwai and were laughing at him except for the principal who gave admission to Ved after seeing the passion in his father to make him a great person.
Suraj & Sandya and the kids (Misri, Pari & Golu) started panicking on seeing the sadness on Ved's face. Immediately after his presentation, Ved went in to his class room and told them that he will be back after sometime. Meanwhile the school authority requested the parents and kids to have snacks till such time, the results were announced. Everyone happily / lazily had the snacks (even those who used to count calories with their every bite, forgot about their diet and ravished the snacks and many of them were behind the hospitality department to collect the contact details of the supplier, so that they can make use their service later for their parties and promotional campaign.
It was time for the results and everyone assembled back in the auditorium and was expecting their ward to win the prize. Ved went to his principal and requested that he was granted 5 minutes time to speak to the crowd before the results. Seeing his sad and serious face, principal allowed him to take over the stage but warned him about any misbehavior.
Ved was in his uniform and no one could recognize him as the boy who played the role of a confectioner and Ved took that to his advantage and welcome the gathering again. "Good evening one and all for being patient for a long time while Judges were busy discussing about the results and request you to kindly bear me for few more minutes. On behalf of the school hospitality department, I would like to request you to provide your opinion on our hospitality. Hope you had no problems with the quality, taste and hygiene of the snacks provided. We would like to know this as we want your honest feedback, so that we can finalize the supplier for our next PTM". Everyone gave a positive feedback on the taste and quality of the sweets and snacks and also told that many of them are eager engage the supplier for their family functions / company promotions parties etc. One of the grandparent told that they would like to book this Chef's sweets, so that even if there are some drawbacks in other arrangements, the moment the barrath taste this food, they will forget everything and be happy with the bride and her family. Someone else said he would like to order the sweets from this Chef to his party to welcome his boss, so that he could easily get promoted to a higher level.
After all these things, Ved asked ever kid in the school to tell whether their father could make the whole gathering happy by his profession in one hour and no one said yes and then Ved said, my father will do that. Sandya caught what was up to and felt happy that her son is thinking in the right path and was not sinking earlier.
He went ahead and said that he doesn't understand the human psychology and want seek some clarifications from all the elders in this gathering:
1. Why that is an engineer is respected highly while a carpenter or a concrete worker is looked down? When the reality is that, without the others, an engineer can never build any construction.
2. Why is it that a manager in the Restaurant is well acknowledge while the chef is looked down when the reality is that the chef is the one who appease their hunger?
3. Why a show room manager does being praised for the sales while the cobbler is treated like a shit? The reality is that without a cobbler, everyone has to walk on barefoot!!!!!!!!!
Just imagine your mother, sister or wife, shut the kitchen doors and say that they don't which to cook as it is a worthless job? Also imagine at that moment due to some strike or bandh all the hotels are closed? What will you do? Will you look into your identity card and dream that you are satisfied? Is it really possible to stay happy & satisfied without food for more than few hours?
There was a pin drop silence and then Ved called his father on stage and introduced him to one and all as Suraj Rati, the confectioner ...a teasing smile embraced everyone's face. Immediately Ved took charge of the mike and continued the one you all have been praising for the last one hour. All were surprised to hear this and raised their eyebrows and Ved said, the one who prepared the sweets and snacks with which you all wanted to gain the promotions, win over the Groom's family etc.
He then concluded his words by saying, he is proud that he is son of Suraj Rati, the confectioner who has his hand in every one's happiness and success. And also requested everyone to pardon him for his arrogant behavior to make them wait and waste their precious time.
The whole gathering got stood up to respect this proud son and said his parents are fortuned to have a son like Ved and they are ashamed of their previous behavior and when the prizes were announced, Vansh had got the 1st prize but he surprised everyone by handing it over to Ved and said he was the one who got more applauds and so he should be the winner.
