Chapter 40

Sanyukta slid her hand to the bottom of his shirt and lifted it gently, causing Randhir's eyes to spring open.

"What are you doing?" he asked her.

"I'm doing what I want to do," she said authoritatively, running her hands up his abdomen... oh his abs were so toned.

"Your hands are shaking," he pointed out, and she bit on her lip.

She was very nervous.

"Yeah... so?" she asked defensively. "You aren't being helpful you know."

"Helpful? Why should I be helpful?" he asked her, raising his eyebrows.

"Because I'm nervous!" she told him.

"Why are you nervous?" he asked her softly. "It's not like you have to do anything."

"But I want to be close to you," she replied to him sincerely. "You could stop being such a rock and could help me!"

"A rock?" he asked lightly.

"Randhir!" she whined, bringing her hand back down, brushing over his crotch accidentally. She removed her hand quickly.

"Now that wasn't good," he pointed out with a smirk, causing her to blush a deep crimson colour.

She tried to breathe more slowly, and licked on her lips, feeling the air cool them. She was feeling so hot.

"Help me," she whispered.

"In what way?" he whispered back.

"I want to... I want to..." she started.

"If you can't even say it, how can you do it?" he asked her, bringing his hand up to cup her face.

"I can," she assured him. "I just... I am nervous."

"My body is yours," he told her softly. "We cannot be separate. You can do whatever you like with me."

"But that doesn't mean you lie there like a dead person!" she complained.

He chuckled again.

"I won't, but you start it," he told her.

"Me?" she asked him, her heart pounding. "No! You're the guy, you start it!"

"I'm perfectly okay with sleeping too," he teased her. "You're the one who wants it now."

She folded her arms.

"Don't you want me?" she asked him, sounding irritated.

"Oh... you don't even know how much," he told her softly.

"Then?"

"I want you so much, but more than that, I want you to be free with me," he said.

"Gosh Randhir!" she said, sounding frustrated. "Sameer would be all over me. Why are you like this?"

He stared at her, his expression dark.

"Sanyukta, I'm not Sameer," he said to her. "Any guy would be all over you, because they see it as pleasure for themselves. I want you to feel pleasure... just pleasure, and I need nothing in return."

She bit down on her lip.

"Sorry," she mumbled apologetically.

"It's okay, you don't need to apologize for saying what you feel," he said softly. "Go to sleep. Good night."

Then he closed his eyes, and Sanyukta did too, moving towards the edge of the bed, leaving space in between their bodies, feeling guilty for what she just said.

I'm sorry Randhir, Sanyukta said in her mind. I promise I'll make it up to you. I don't know how, but I will.

Chapter 41

The next week passed with Randhir and Sanyukta being formal with each other. Sanyukta just didn't know how to behave with him - he seemed a bit more distant than usual, and she couldn't blame him either. She compared him to Sameer... and while Randhir wasn't the type to get easily hurt, it must have put some kind of negative thoughts in his mind. Not to mention the fact that it also meant on a subconscious level, she was still thinking about Sameer.

She tried to say sorry to him on many occasions, but he would just smile at her politely and say not to worry, and that made her more upset. She would rather he just yell at her, than be okay with it.

At night, Sanyukta would try to cuddle up next to him, but he was unresponsive, and he would fall asleep immediately. She didn't know how he fell asleep so easily. She had so many thoughts in her head that prevented her from sleeping, and he was able to sleep just like that, in less than a second.

On Friday night, after coming home from work, Sanyukta started to cook. Randhir had gone out to do something - she didn't even know what, and she didn't ask, but she decided that if she could do something to make Randhir act normal again, it would probably be to cook for him. She wanted to have dinner made for him by the time he got back.

After preparing an elegant feast, Sanyukta ran into the shower and washed up really well, before stepping out and wearing a nice black dress that fell to her knees. She put on some makeup and curled the ends of her hair.

Sanyukta looked at herself in the mirror nervously, her stomach performing somersaults, not knowing how Randhir would react to all of this.

She ran back into the kitchen and started to arrange the food in a nice way, as she waited for Randhir to come home. Glancing up at the time, she saw that it was already 8 PM.

Hesitantly, Sanyukta picked up her phone and called Randhir.

"Hey," he said, picking up on the first ring. "Is everything okay?"

"When are you coming home?" she asked him.

"Um... I'm not coming home tonight," he responded. "Why? What happened?"

"You aren't coming home?" Sanyukta repeated. "What do you mean?"

Then she heard a female giggle in the background.

"I'm with someone right now," he said to her. "Ishika... wait I'll be there in a bit."

"You're... you're with Ishika?" Sanyukta asked, her mouth dropping open, feeling a light ache in her heart.

"Yeah," Randhir responded.

"And you're not coming home?" Sanyukta asked him.

"Yes," he responded. "You'll be able to sleep alone right?"

"Yes," she whispered, feeling her eyes well up with tears. "Don't worry about me, I'll be fine. Bye."

Then she hung up the phone and fell on the ground against the wall, feeling the tears spill from her eyes, probably staining her cheeks with mascara.

How did she have any right to be upset? If he was happy, then she ought to be happy. She sniffled and wiped her nose with the back of her hand.

"I'm... I'm happy," she croaked, "I'm happy Randhir's happy."

If anyone deserved to be happy, it was Randhir. She only made him upset... she was just a burden on him. She couldn't do anything to make him happy.

"But that's okay," she said to herself softly. "He just wants me to be happy."

Then she smiled through her tears. She was happy. Of course she was happy. Randhir wanted her to be happy... she could give him that much.

Then she heard a knock on the door.
