Ram, Ram, what have you done today!!

Just today, I was thinking to myself that Ram's characterisation is consistent and he is a responsible, family oriented guy.. Today, they had shown another of his character trait which is weak, impulsive and without conscience.. He has a major weakness for drinks, that along with his bottled up stress & sorrow proved to be his downfall today.. Maybe the makers wants to establish some more character traits for future tracks, such as his weakness for drinks and his inclusiveness. But today he was also shown as a thief and an irresponsible father & hubby which is unacceptable for me.. I can accept weakness & flaws in characters, but not when the person deliberately set out to cheat.. Before I continue my rant, let me explain the related scene..

Ram & co goes to an expensive restaurant for the b'day dinner.. The kids (who are well behaved and grounded) points out that it is way beyond their budget as a simple Dal costs around 500 in that restaurant, but Ram insists that they should enjoy their dinner at that place as it is a special place where he proposed to Anu. He is already half drunk by this time There is a cute enacting of the proposal scene by Ram followed by Ram grandly announcing that on the occasion of his wife's b'day, he would pay the bill for all the patrons who are currently eating at that restaurant.. Anu and Disha do try to dissuade him (not very convincingly), but Ram doesn't listen to reason. At the end of the dinner, Ram is fully drunk, the bill amounts to 40K (which I think is very less when you consider even a Dal dish costs ~ 500 bucks and there is the cost of drinks too). Ram manages to pack off the rest of the family to the hotel by taxi and confesses to the restaurant management that he doesn't have money to pay for the bill.. The episode ends with a visibly beaten up Ram having an emotional outburst in the presence of restaurant owner and the police.. Ok, I agree that the makers need to lay some foundation for how he hits the rock bottom and also create some blackmark against him which can be used by the FIL if there is a custody case.. But, I just can't accept our protagonist as a dishonest person, what shown today was dishonesty.. He had no need to incur the expenses of all the restaurant customers, when he very well know that he can't afford to pay.. Was he trying to impress someone, whom? Even his kids know the status of the family finances, there was absolutely no need for that empty gesture.. They made him a cheat today.. I am totally disappointed with the character today... Moreover even Anu was shown irresponsible when she didn't try to hard to stop Ram from making that stupid gesture and didn't she know he doesn't have money to pay for the bill? Ram also is shown as very irresponsible, what would have happened to Anu & kids if he got arrested.. Did he even think about the consequences?

Most probably they will show the restaurant owner getting melted with Ram's outburst and letting him off the hook, but I hope that they show him making some sort of arrangement to pay back the money on instalments. Otherwise, the restaurant owner would look like a fool who forego his one evening's earnings..

Now that my ranting is over, let's come to the other aspects of the episode.. First time in this show, Ram's BD was pretty obvious. I thought they used a BD even in the first episode during the beach scene, when they had shown Ram-Anu's backside with the sea at the front. But it was not very obvious because when they had shown the front angle, Ram wasn't in single frame, he was shown with Gurdeep. But it was single frames and BD today in the scene at the hotel room when the family was getting ready as well throughout the restaurant scene. Ok, acting of any of the members wasn't affected due to the single frames..

The acting was as usual excellent in the episode. Disha is proving to be a very understanding and sensible daughter both in the first scene where she avoided leaving Anu alone as well in the restaurant scene about the cost of the dishes. She also shares a great rapport with her father and smartly took away her mom and brother when Ram wanted them out of the troubles way. The first scene between Ram-Anu, another testament for the comfort level between the couple.. Anu could cooly tease Ram about she remarrying a rich guy if Ram passes away.. She has such rapport with her hubby, she knows so well that he won't feel jealous or inferior. The family scene where everyone was getting ready and Ram teasing Anu that she looks so beautiful that he wants to leave the kids and take only her for dinner was another cute scene. Gurdeep was fantastic in two scenes today, one where she vomits blood and cries in the restroom and another when Ram proposes her. The blood vomit scene shown her true emotions, the pain behind the cheery facade.. And in the proposal scene when her expression changes from extreme happiness to unbearable pain, she was just too good..

As usual Ram was good in all the scenes, his proposal was cute and he was indeed blushing, his drunken act in the last scene and the emotional outburst was awesome. Though I hated the sequence leading up to the outburst, I loved the emotional scene, it almost (but not fully) compensated his dishonesty..

Precap : Anu falls down again in public, this time with blood coming from nose. Ram first begging, then fighting with a doctor to come to attend Anu. Seems they are still at Jodhpur..

I second you!
Even though the acting of every character was portrayed wonderfully, I didn't like the fact that Ram was pretty drunk through most of the episode. He did act it out great and it's obviously not easy to act drunk and all, but I just didn't like the whole idea of Ram getting drunk.

Disha does seem pretty mature as per the age she seems to be, loving her and I think she will be proving herself to be even more mature about things in the upcoming episodes.

Good post 👍🏼 I agree with most of your points..

The fact that Ram was not in his senses made him do something good for his wife, but at the same time it created a problem for him. Getting drunk wasn't the smartest thing to do, but oh well.

Anyways, I am mainly just worried for Anu in tomorrow's episode.

Good post like always. Agree that what Ram did was impulsive and didn't hold meaning as the family is well aware of their own financial condition. So don't know why it was all done.

The precap scares me. Hope Anu stays OK.

I agree.. This is what I said in my take too... He wasn't very honest... AT ALL. I couldn't see the BD though. As I said earlier, my Sony TV quality sucks.. xD It is completely sans logic and I hope it was a one episode case and they don't continue with it. Otherwise, I will lose interest. I wanted some good recuperating worsening scenes. Not partying and all Why cant they go back to Mumbai?

I didn't like the way he took the restaurant people for a ride with his foolish gesture, but I don't think I blame him for his drinking.. He is at the end of an emotional tether, he does need some outlet.. I don't think we can really undertand what he is going through at the current circumstances..

Yes, Disha is pretty mature and levelheaded. If the show follows the storyline of Daddy in the upcoming tracks, she will indeed have a lot of role to play.

Thankyou..

Yes, getting drunk was not the smartest thing, but he seems to be helpless.. But as I mentioned somewhere, what irked me most was not his drinking, but he taking the restaurant people for a ride,..

I think Anu's health will get worsened and she may have to be hospitalised..

Thank you 😊

Yes, Ram was impulsive, I can actually relate to him in wanting to do everything for his terminally ill wife, he wants to have a big celebration for her last b'day, but what I can't accept (though can undertand) is he using other's money for it.

As we know already, Anu won't be ok.. As Gurdeep mentioned in an interview, hospital days are coming up I think..

I think it was a deliberate attempt by the makers to show him in such state, to show his weakness, recklessness and also his penchant for drinking.. They are laying foundation for future..

They are not going back to Mumbai, becusee inspite of knowing what funded the trip, Anu said this is the most memorable trip for her. And Ram is hellbent on making it much more special..

It is not that he loves his kids any less or risking thier future, he thinks (not very rightly) that his wife's happiness (however fleeting it is) is his priority now, he will have time to makeup to the kids, to earn for their future.. That's his way of thinking, not mine ;).

I agree, he's going through some pretty serious stuff and he needs a drink here and there. But, in an occassion like Anu's birthday? Drinking that much? That's what annoyed me, along with the whole paying for all the customers thing. If Disha's attitude and behavior continues, she definitely will have a big role to play as a daughter and an elder sister! Loving her!
