Part 23

Arnav probed on his elbow and looked down at the most beautiful sight he had ever seen. His lips stretched into a soft smile. Taking his baby-girl's implausibly tiny hand in his, he kissed her fingers. " I don't like when you guys sleep" he confessed. " I love when you two open your warm liquid eyes and keep staring at me, unsure, unblinking " Bending down he kissed their forehead. " I love how you two feel, ...so soft. .smooth. ... Your enchanting odor forces me to leave everything else and cuddle you both close to my heart. ... Your small tiny lips, so cute... Your fingers that wrap around my finger as soon as it find mine... I love you both. ...I love everything about you both. .." His eyes shone with pride and love. He was hopelessly in love with these two bundles in front of him. When they open their eyes and stare in his, its like they are touching his soul and stirring everything inside him to life. He blinked back the tears that pooled in his eyes. There was only one person who held such power on him - - Khushi. Until these both, only Khushi held the power to make him feel this way. But now he has two more tiny bodies that held the exact same power. Should he be worried?

He looked down at his beautiful babies. No! He is not worried. They are his babies, and they aren't going anywhere. He loves them, and he is not going to hold back his feelings from them. They make him feel all new, a man who is full of love - - love only for them. And then nothing remains in his control, he falls irrevocably for them.

Caressing his baby-boy's soft cheek, he again dropped a kiss on their forehead. " I am sorry, I will have to leave, a very important meeting " he looked apologetic. " But I will be back soon... Don't miss me too much " he kissed their tummy. " But I will ...bye"

He stood off the bed to see Khushi walk out of the bathroom, looking fresh and beautiful in the light pink saree.

He walked towards her.

"Khushi I have an important meeting in the office, I will have to leave"

"Theek hai" she said and took a step towards the bed, but he held her arms.

Standing in front of her, he cupped her face. "Are you fine?" last night's event still bothering him.

Khushi nodded her head.

"Khushi" he begun, still cupping her face. " Khushi you should stop thinking about all this. ...no one is going to leave you now. ...I promise. .. Stop bothering yourself ...it's not good for your health" he waited for her to say something, but when she didn't, he pulled her in his arms. " You, our babies, and me are going to live together ..forever. .. " he felt her fingers bunch his shirt. " Happy. ...safe. ..always. ...forever... I promise ... The babies are dear to me as they are to you, Khushi. ..tumhari kasam. ... You can trust me with them. ..." He pulled away.

" I will leave now. .. Don't start with your daily chores, Doctor had advised rest to you. ." leaving her arms, he picked his coat and laptop bag. "Bye" kissing her forehead and looking at his babies once, imprinting their beautiful faces in his heart, he turned to leave, but collided with a soft body.

" Arnav, I have just two more days left here" Anjali whined.

Arnav crooked his left eyebrow at her. " So? ..You don't want to go to your dearest hubby?"

" That's not what I meant." Anjali glared.

"Then?"

" Naamkaran. ... I want to be a part of my niece and nephew's naamkaran ceremony... After all I am their Bua, it's me who will keep their name " Anjali said excited.

" Excuse me, who said that to you? They are mine and Khushi' s babies. .. We will decide their name " he said, all possessive.

"Excuse me, I am their Bua , so it's me who will name them "

Arnav opened his mouth to refute again, but his phone rang, reminding him of his meeting. "This discussion is not over, ..." he made it very clear, and left.

As her brother left, she walked on her excited legs towards the bed. " Khushi, I was just teasing him. ...you can decide the babies name and tell me, I will tell to the pandit. " She smiled her infectious smile.

Khushi smiled and shook her head. " No Di, you can name them.. .you are their Bua, it's your right. "

" No no, Khushi. .they are your and Arnav's babies. ...you two decide. .. Forget about the rights, who follows them nowadays, anyways. ..and no argument here. . You two decide and tell me. ... I will make all the arrangements for the ceremony. ." She smiled as Khushi nodded in agreement. She looked at the sleeping babies and her smile widened. " They are sleeping? Good, you will get some rest..." she again looked at Khushi, her smile faltering little now" Khushi, ...I...I know my brother has many flaws.. And I am not defending him here, OK. ..I know what an idiot he is. .." she again looked at the babies. " But, trust me. .he will love the babies more than his life. .. He will not subject his babies to the same misery our father did " She took Khushi's hand in hers. " I don't think I should share his past. ..All I want to say is, he is not like our Father, he will love the babies like his own. ... Trust me, will you?"

Khushi just nodded her head, not knowing what else to say.

"Thank you .." Anjali smiled.

Arnav entered his mansion late at night. The meeting stretched more than he had expected, and which he hated to say the least. All he wanted to do was dump all his work and run back to his babies and Khushi. But all his pending works from last few weeks needed attention too.

He entered his room to see Khushi pacing the room with their daughter jiggling on her shoulder. He smiled and dumped his laptop bag on the recliner and stood in front of Khushi.

" I was afraid she would have slept by the time I get home. " He looked at his daughter , who has now turned her head and her wide awake eyes were staring at him.

Arnav lifted his hand to reach her, but Khushi moved back, and regretted her move soon as she saw the hurt flash in his eyes.

"Woh... I am sorry. . You have just returned, you should freshen up and then take her "

"Oh...yes. ...I should.. ." he removed his coat and was about to throw on the bed, but stopped as he saw his Son too wide awake. " He is up too? .. "

"Yes. " Khushi replied. " But he isn't wailing like her" she looked down at her daughter. " She always wants someone to carry her " Khushi smiled looking at her beautiful daughter.

Arnav chuckled. " I know. .. " he opened his cupboard to extract his night clothes. " I will be back in no time " he said and entered the bathroom.

Khushi again looked at her daughter. " You are very naughty, look your brother is such a good boy"

Her daughter scrunched her little nose cutely, as if understanding everything. Khushi smiled and kissed her nose. " My cute baby"

Arnav came out of the bathroom to see Khushi still pacing the room. Walking towards her, he took his daughter in his arms. " Ain't sleepy?"

" Aapka dinner?" Khushi asked.

" I had my dinner, Khushi. You don't worry. You can sleep, I will look over them now" he smiled as he kept his daughter beside his son and laid down near them.

Khushi laid on her side, looking at her daughter who wasn't crying now like the other times, but was staring at Arnav ji.

Dropping a kiss on his kid's soft cheek, he laid on the bed, taking his daughter with him. Holding her close to his chest, he took his boy under his arm, and closed his eyes. "Come on, close your eyes ...time to sleep.."

Khushi looked at her daughter lulling to sleep on Arnav ji's chest as he weaved magic with his voice, her own eyes drooping.

Arnav opened his eyes to see all three asleep. Getting up, he picked his babies and settled them carefully in their crib.

Climbing the bed again, he looked over Khushi. She was sleeping. Taking the blanket which was resting near her foot, he pulled it over her. Laying down beside her, he probed on his elbow and looked down at her serene face. Bending down, he kissed her chin. "Trust me Khushi, trust me to love you, to love the babies , ... I will never be my old self again , you can trust me this time ... I need to love you guys , I can't survive without you three ... Can't imagine my life without you guys ... Trust me, ...trust me, Sonu .." With his throat giving up, he laid back and closed his eyes.

Khushi opened her misted eyes after some time to see his eyes closed. She turned her back to him, few drop of tears spilling out of her eyes."I ... I ...trust you with them "She whispered. She is not going to deny the obvious anymore. She can feel the love he has for the babies each time he looks at them, she can see the concern brimming in his eyes when the babies cry, she can sense his yearning to be always close to the babies. She don't know how to convince her broken heart to stir the love for this man again, but she will not deny the pure love and care this man has for her babies. Her babies deserve all the love and care!

But she needs time. She closed her eyes shut. She don't know whatever she was thinking was right or not, but she is tired. Tired of traveling in a dark tunnel where there's no hint of any light. And the darkness will swallow her soon. And she don't want that , it scares her. She want to lead a normal life with her babies, and if with the help of Arnav ji she can achieve that, then she would take his help. If this man has the power to chide away her nightmares and sooth her fears away, then she is ready to reach to him and allow him to hold her.

Few months back she had married this man because she feared he would take her babies away from her, and now again for her babies, she is ready to allow this man to reach her.
