Box office prediction for Detective Byomkesh Bakshi

UPDATE- Can those who voted 100 crs+ and those who voted 51-60 crores post note on the thread if possible please? There seems to be clear but substantial difference in the way the two sections view this movie's fate. It would be good to know who voted what. No reasons required.

Doston, Bollywood's next notable release is Detective Byomkesh Bakshi starring Sushant Singh Rajput.

Some facts
SSR has a decent fan following because of his TV series days and previous movies.

Public probably is waiting this more as a director's movie as DB is one of the best in the industry today.

Yrf has kept promotion costs at minimum.

The movie doesn't seem to have a notable actress. No chartbuster song either.

The movie is a period movie from 1900s.


What are your predictions for its collections in India? and why?

Thank you for participating in my thread. The prediction will also reflect whether the forum members can more or less accurately predict the fate of the movie or not. It should be possible as they are located in different parts of India and other countries and can sense the buzz.

80-100 crore. I know its a lot but I have a feeling that it will surprise us.

- It has decent to good hype.
- The trailers are amazing.
- The content is going to super strong.
- Boyemkesh is a character than the audiences are familiar with.

It just has to get a good opening and the rest will take care of itself.

How can it get a good opening? That is one issue difficult to answer.

2nd, the votes have started and it is getting votes more towards 40-60 cr range. So, i take 80-100 cr as your wish being a SSR fan (u urself said it's a lot😊)...which probably could be the wish of all SSR fans.

Nah, not saying it as a SSR fan. I predicted 300 plus for PK and 50 for Badlapur as well.

The basic thing I look for is the director, PH the trailers and the story the movie is trying to portray. If all clicks then it is likely to do really well. In the case of Khans you can add a 100 or more extra for star power.

DBB has all these things going for it so, it will run long on WOM and especially with multiplexes. And that matters a lot, most of business these days comes from them.

I hope villain is hot. Ssr and film look boring. I might go for Bengal factor.

Its also the first movie releasing after cricket world cup so people would be more willing to go to the cinema. I can't predict how much money it will make, but I'm fairly confident that it will be a sleeper hit as DB's movies normal don't open well.

The film must be good and that is what it is promising to be.

is it releasing in india on april 3? Foreign movies don't seem to have a considerable impact unless it's a chris nolan or james cameron movie

These days you can't predict the box office numbers without watching the movie. Bas movie paisa-vasool hona chahiye, phir dekha jaayega. 👍🏼 Bollywood doesn't make many detective movies, so I'm just thrilled about watching something new.

Oh come on KST, you think Arsal is a SSR fan? 😆 There are only a handful of people in this forum who are interested in this movie and that too because of DB and the trailers. Not because it stars Sushant. 😛

Anyway...I voted for 60. 😛
