I'm starting a new story.. It'll be very short.. May be 3 or 4 chapters or even less...
The idea came to my mind today morning...
Actually last night I saw a dream and the idea came from there and I couldn't stop myself from starting this...
It's on the issue of honour killing which is prevalent still in the 21st century in remote villages of India...
This story is an attempt to rise voice against this barbaric practice...
Hope you will like it...

"Jo, run... Come hold my hand", the young man forwarded his hand to the lady behind him,"we can't afford to be here for long".
"Jalal, I can't run any more... Let them catch us", the lady said while trying to catch her breath.
"What are you saying Jo? You very well know what will that lead to?", the young man said trying to make the lady understand the cost they would have to give if they stayed there.
"But...", her words stopped as the young man's palms covered her mouth," Don't talk... Just run".
Thereby running through the forest area with the scorching heat of the sun, the lovebirds tried to find the road that lead to the highway. But no! The Gods even refused to help them.
The road through the jungle which connected Sitapur village with the NH 31 was blocked as a heavy tree fell in the road in last night's rain...
Last night's rain was the most memorable incident for Jodha and Jalal...

They had become one another's in the heavily pouring rain last night in Jodha's cowshed. How happy they were... But now time has changed, the two soulmates were now running to save their lives from the villagers. Today morning the villagers had seen them together in the cowshed and now they were behind these two.. Running away from the village was also of no use as the villagers were chasing them...
"Jo, is there any other way?", Jalal asked while a fear of being caught gripped his young heart. He wasn't afraid of dying but was afraid of Jodha's declining health conditions. The lively young maiden now seemed too weak to stand even. Clothes disheveled due to continuous running, she was standing holding his hand.
"I don't know about any other road... We used to pass from this one only", Jodha said trying hard to keep her eyes open.
"Don't close your eyes.. Try to keep them open.. We have to find out another road", Jalal said trying to wake up the lady in his arms..

The whole day without food and water started to take a toll on Jodha's health. She found it too difficult to open her eyes. Even Jalal's words failed to reach her ears. She seemed to be going away in a different land, a land of her dreams, a land where she could lead her life with Jalal without anyone behind their lives.
"Jodha, for God's sake keep your eyes open. We have to run.We have to find the highway", Jalal's tensed voice fell on deaf ears.
"Jo.. JO", a scream escaped Jalal's lips as he found her leaving his hand and falling down.
The day was too much for Jodha and she drifted into the world of unconsciousness dreaming about her happy life with Jalal.
"There they are", the villagers voice reached Jalal's ears, "I told you they will come here".
Lifting his head to see the position of the villagers he found them far away.
Gathering Jodha in his arms, Jalal started running in the left direction as the forest was a little deep there in a wish to hide behind the bushes.

"They were here.. I saw them", one of the villagers said to the others.. The whole village had gathered there in order to search for the two "sinners". Yes, they addressed Jalal and Jodha as sinners as according to them girls had no right to love someone from the other clans and if someone showed that courage, then they had to be punished for the offence... The village had gathered there to search for the two in order to punish them and keep them as an example for the coming generations...
"They must be here only... Let's get divided and then we'll search", another man said.
"Yes... Deepak, take half of the villagers to the left and I'll take the rest to the right.. And if you get the slightest hint of them, then call us. Okay?", giving instruction to his son, Jodha's father, the head of the village panchayat, lead his team to the right..
Their whole conversation didn't go unnoticed by the young man, who was hiding behind the banyan tree with Jodha safely cocooned in his arms.

Jalal looked at the unconscious figure in his arms. Even while unconscious she was an epitome of beauty. He never believed that he was capable of loving some one till the day he met this lady. He had come to Sitapur in order to click photos on the subject of Indian villages for his upcoming photo exhibition. He was welcomed warmly by the villagers and was given a room to stay in the Thakur's haveli... That was the place he met Jodha.. Jodha was the daughter of the village panchayat head Sundar Lal Thakur. They had become good friends in their first meeting and then love entered their lives after some days... But it was forbidden in the villagers eyes and thus they took all measures to hide their love from the eyes of others. But last night's rain made them one. The fear of loosing each other made them accept each other with open arms but this time they couldn't hide their relation from the villagers.. They saw them together and are now in the forest searching for them.
