@Amr1ta amrita@bizasialive.com

Sunny days are upon us once again as the summer months are upcoming. Although summer may bring days out and opportunities to enjoy the sunshine, movie buffs will always want to keep up with the new releases and spend some of their spare time in the cinemas. This year, the forthcoming films are definitely ones which we have been excited about for a few months and now that those films are finally about to hit the theatres, BizAsia has chosen the ones which should be on your list not to be missed. Once again, it was a difficult list to compile but here's hoping your most anticipated movies are present in our top ten.

(Release dates are correct on time of publishing but could change in the coming months)

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!'

'Detective Byomkesh Bakshi'

Release date: 3rd April
Director: Dibanker Banerjee
*ing: Sushant Singh Rajput, Swastika Mukherjee, Anand Tiwari

Sushant Singh Rajput's last appearance in Aamir Khan starrer PK' (2014), was enough to make you yearning for more. The actor has a great screen presence and no doubt his next film Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!' will showcase his talents further. His looks in the film have been different to what the audiences are used to and initial promos have impressed to say the least. This is the first one on our list that we are waiting eagerly for.

Piku'

Big B & Deepika Padukone in 'Piku'

Release date: 8th May
Director: Shoojit Sircar
*ing: Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Irrfan Khan

Boasting a unique and interesting star-cast and sneak peek photos which have only peaked the audience's interests, Piku' is a film that delves into the father-daughter relationship. No doubt Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone will be a delight to see in these roles and with the addition of the talented Irrfan Khan and with Shoojit Sircar being the director leading the ship, this film is definitely one we want to see.

Phir Se'

Phir Se Featured

Release date: 8th May
Director: Kunal Kohli, Ajay Bhuyan
*ing: Kunal Kohli, Jennifer Winget

Phir Se' is a film that makes our list because of how much promise it's filled with. It will see the debut of not only filmmaker Kunal Kohli but also of television actress Jennifer Winget. Having been shot heavily in London, the film will tell the story of a young woman and her older love interest. From the early stills, this new jodi seems to be an interesting one it's only adding to the excitement for the film.

Bombay Velvet'

Ranbir Kapoor in 'Bombay Velvet'

Release date: 15th May
Director: Anurag Kashyap
*ing: Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar

Perhaps one of the most interesting things about the forthcoming Bombay Velvet' is that filmmaker Karan Johar is to be seen in his very first full-fledged role, and that too as a villain. However, this isn't the only thing. With Anurag Kashyap's creative expertise, Ranbir Kapoor's ability to fit into every role with immense ease and Anushka Sharma's freshness, the film is absolutely one of the most awaited films of the year. It's very close to have its trailer released but as for now, it is a film not to be missed this summer.

Dil Dhadakne Do'

Dil Dhadakne Do who's who featured

Release date: 5th June
Director: Zoya Akhtar
*ing: Anil Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar, Shefali Shah

Dil Dhadakne Do', as with other Zoya Akhat movies, is one of the films that most Bollywood fans are excited about. With a huge star-cast to boast and Akhtar's way of bringing intertwined plots on screen with great simplicity and grandeur, Dil Dhadakne Do' could not come any slower. It may feel like it's been an age since the movie was announced but no doubt that's just the excitement talking! For now, we're just saying "June, get here already!"

ABCD 2

'ABCD2' starring Varun & Shraddha

Release date: 19th June
Director: Remo D'Souza
*ing: Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor, Prabhu Deva, Lauren Gottlieb

Remo D'Souza is back with another directorial with the sequel of 2013's ABCD'. In ABCD 2, Varun Dhawan will be seen sharing the screen with Shraddha Kapoor in the main roles. The film is, once again, focused on dance. Various snippets have been revealed by the actors as the film's schedules were ongoing and it seems as if this might well be one of the freshest films to come this year... here's hoping.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan'

Bajrangi Bhaijaan

Release date: 17th July
Director: Kabir Khan
*ing: Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui

Salman Khan films are usually heavily anticipated by all and Kabir Khan directed Bajrangi Bhaijaan' is no different. Salman will be seen sharing the screen with Kareena Kapoor Khan once again and the film will also see him as a painter, a talent which he possesses in real life too. The film has been shot in various locations in India as well as in Kashmir and this list would have been incomplete without it.

Brothers'

'Brothers'

Release date: 14th August
Director: Karan Malhotra
*ing: Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra, Jacqueline Fernandez, Jackie Shroff

The poster of Brothers' was unveiled recently online. It shows Sidharth Malhotra, Akshay Kumar and Jackie Shroff's rugged looks for the film and has somewhat increased the excitement and level of intrigue for the film. Produced by Dharma Productions, the film is definitely going to be packaged right and one can now hope that the film will be a little hatke for the actors involved - including leading lady Jacqueline Fernandez.

Phantom'

Katrina Kaif & Saif Ali Khan in 'Phantom'

Release date: 28th August
Director: Kabir Khan
*ing: Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif

Kabir Khan directed Phantom' is another movie which many are eagerly waiting for. Kabir does action pretty well and in this film, the audiences will see Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif doing just that. The film has been shot in worldwide locations including Lebanon and London and promises an interesting aftermath story post 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Both Saif and Katrina have had considerable months since their last releases and no doubt the audiences are waiting to see them both on the big screen.

Shaandaar'

Shandaar Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor 340x

Release date: 4th September
Director: Vikas Bahl
*ing: Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Pankaj Kapur, Sanjay Kapoor

What can be said about a film which has been touted as Bollywood's first wedding destination film? Starring Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt - a fresh Jodi - and with Vikas Bahl as director, the film definitely looks like it will be an interesting and fresh watch. With last year's Queen', Bahl has raised people's expectations of himself. This film therefore has much to fulfil and we are confident that this team will satisfy the audiences when Shaandaar' hits the screens.

As always, there are also films which we are all waiting eagerly for which don't quite cut it to make our list. One such example is Mr X'. Emraan Hashmi and Amyra Dastur will be starring in this Vishesh Films production. The poster was unveiled recently and promises a film with a difference in the Bhatts' attempt to take cinema that little further in what seems to be the sci-fi genre. The film is scheduled to release on 17th April.

Gabbar is Back' has also had much of the first posters and teasers released of late and promises a film which is worth a watch. With Akshay Kumar and Shruti Haasan pairing up for the first time for this action thriller and also Sanjay Leela Bhansali producing the movie, it seems this one might just up the stakes a little. It is a remake of a popular Tamil film which saw success. It's slated for release on 1st May.

The final film which we feel deserved a mention is the sequel of 2011 film Tanu Weds Manu'. With Kangna Ranaut appearing in a double role for Tanu Weds Manu Returns', and R Madhavan also reprising his role, it promises to be an interesting second instalment to an already popular film.

With that, our summer movies list comes to an end for another year. We're already a little bit excited about the movies expected in the winter months already but as far as 2015 goes so far, Bollywood needs the next few months to release some films of substance. We're hoping that the films in this list will give the audiences the entertainment and sentiments needed for the year to be particularly memorable for cinema

Why is Phir Se on the list? Nobody wants to see that film with a director as a hero..and that too not so good looking director.

Am mostly looking forward to Shandaar because of Queen and Alia. Am also looking forward to Brothers for Sid, and item song with bebo, and the director did the amazing Agneepath. Well not amazing but I enjoyed Agneepath.

Gabar is back might be good. Will wait for the trailer to decide. Also the fact that Shurti hasan is in the film makes me excited. I like her. Oh and the bebo item number. 😳
