Episode 31
"Ladies and gentlemen, this is Captain Gale and I'm your pilot and on behalf of the entire crew I welcome you aboard Airbus 632, from Bhopal to Pantnagar. The travel distance is 820km, which will be covered in 1 hour 45 minutes. Happy journey," chirped the speakers.
After announcing all cell phones to be switched off, the TV in front of each passenger proceeded to show the standard safety demonstration.
The flight started taxing and Zoya settled comfortably on her window seat. She was a bit satisfied that Asad had given back the passports as soon as she asked for it. She turned to see Asad surveying the movie collection on the screen in front of him.
"Want to watch a movie?"
"What movie is there?"
"Alone' looks good enough."
"Isn't that a scary movie?"
"Yes."
"hm...Karan is in it, so I will watch."
He frowned, "Who Karan? The guy from "Qubool Hai" series?"
"Yes, the one and only KSG."
"He didn't even complete the whole role. Stupid guy."
"Don't you bad mouth him. Now let's watch the movie."
Both of them put on their head phones and settled comfortably to watch the movie, both their screens synced right.
Asad smiled whenever she jolted in fear and held on to him tight at some scary scene.
She was totally adorable as she bit her nails in nervousness.
No wonder he had married her even before the accident.
*****
She put her head out of the car window and inhaled the fresh air of the hills ahead.
She almost jerked when she felt Asad snuggle from behind her and place a chaste kiss on her shoulder.
"Asad...sh...the driver."
"You are my wife," he whispered huskily against her ear lobe, sending tickles down her spine.
"Asad...mm...stop"
He pulled away twisting his lips in mock disappointment.
"Aw...so you are angry?"
He turned to look at her and there was something unreadable in his eyes. And without warning, he bent down and laid on her lap, his bare feet against the window.
He shut his eyes for a short nap and Zoya caressed his hair, feeling more content than ever.
*****
It was the most beautiful scenery she had ever seen and walking through it in the moon light just made her feel like she had been transferred into some alternate universe of a painting. She could hear the roaring sound of cascading water nearby, which she comprehended was a waterfalls.
"This place is magnificent!" she heard her husband exclaim.
"Han. Ammi has great taste," she said as she followed him down the rocky path to their assigned cottage.
The janitor opened the door for them and handed over the keys to Asad.
"Thank you."
He just tipped his hat and left.
She was admiring the hallway when Asad came from behind and wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Asad!" she squealed laughing.
He twirled her and she started beating his hand, still laughing.
"Put me down, Asad."
"Fine!" he said and put her down. She turned to look at his a little disappointed face.
"Well...when a wife says Put me down', it means don't. When are you going to learn that much?" she asked, trying to keep her face as innocent as possible.
His eyes widened as he saw the teasing gleam in his wife's eyes.
"Zoya?"
He tried to gather her in her arms again, but Zoya was ready for him and backed, turning it into a small, catch me if you can' game, around the house.
"Ow!" he said suddenly limping.
"Asad, are you alright?" she asked rushing to him.
"Caught you!" he said, holding her.
"Asad!" she struggled and both of them fell over the bed, laughing.
She was on his side, his arm acting as a pillow for her.
She turned to face, just as he turned to face him. Both of them breathless.
"Zoya, I need..."
Swallowing her nervousness, she parted her lips in anticipation.
"...to take a bath," he said laughing.
"Oh God, Go!" she said hitting his chest.
He got up and held out his hand to her, "Want to join me?" he asked.
"Wh...What?" she asked wide-eyed.
He laughed again and she frowned.
"There is a waterfall nearby; in fact our bedroom has its view."
"Oh..."
He smirked and asked, "Why do you sound disappointed?"
"Oh please, Asad. Drop that look."
"So, do you want to join me?"
"Hm...sounds interesting. Ya, I guess," looking down at her simple red saree, she had worn for the travel.
*****
The sound of rushing water became more intense as they neared the waterfall. The waterfall stood elegant radiating power and supremacy. Spray from it misted over their entire body. She shivered at the chillness of the night. She hesitantly placed a foot in the water, but was surprised at the warmth of the water.
She looked at Asad confused.
"It is running water," he explained, holding her tightly as she wadded the running water towards the fall.
They had just almost reached the fall when, without a warning, Asad gathered water and threw at her face.
"AsaD!"
He just laughed as she wiped her face. He gathered water again and was about to throw it at her when she hit his hand away and pushed him into the fall.
"Hey!"
He pulled her along with him.
Both of them tried to open their eyes against the strong force of flowing water.
Asad backed both of them further into the fall, so that they were standing between the rocks and the fall, technically inside the waterfall.
She wiped the water off her face and raised her hands to tie her hair in a bun.
Asad also wiped his face and then looking down at his wet shirt; he removed it and tied it around his waist.
She straightened her saree, allowing her gaze to travel along the well chiseled six-pack body of her husband.
Surprising her, he held out his hand.
Though she didn't know the reason, she took it.
And in a tug, she was on him.
Before she knew it, she was against the damp, moss ridden rocks. Inspite of the chillness the landscape provided, she felt the heat rise in her body. She saw the desire in his eyes and knew what was to come.
"Asad...I need to tell you something," she started.
He shut her by pressing his lips against hers, his left hand tangled in her hair and right hand caressing her bare waist.
"Asa..." she tried again, only to give his tongue access to a slow seductive kiss. She curled her toes and dug her nails on his shoulder as a throbbing beneath her belly overtook her senses. He moaned against her mouth, as she pressed herself against him. Her mind fogged up with desire. Only when he pulled away did she come back to her senses.
"Asad, I need to..."
He kissed her again, this time, his lips finding way down from her lips to the nape of her neck along her collarbone, marking her.
"Asad..."
It was more of an encouragement than its intended purpose.
Her patience snapped and she pushed him away, only to pull him again, so that he didn't fall down. His face registered confusion, which cleared almost immediately, as if he understood her.
"Asad, I need to tell you something," she said tearing up, her forehead resting on his.
He cupped her face and placed a chaste kiss on her lips, before saying, "I know."
She looked at him in confusion.
Placing an even more deeper kiss on her lower lip he said again, "I know."
She was speechless trying to understand him. She wouldn't know for a while because he did a great job distracting her...
*****
Her eyes fluttered open, as the sun rays danced into the room.
She brought her hands above her head to stretch into a yawn and only then did she realize that she was naked under the sheets.
Almost alarmed, she looked to her side, to find her husband sleeping peacefully, equally naked.
She blushed as she remembered the events of the night.
She hadn't told him yet and what did he mean by he knew?
The sooner they talked everything, the better.
She patted his cheek, before leaning in to place a quick peck on his lips.
She gasped when he responded.
"You are awake?" she asked pulling away and holding the sheet closer to her.
He propped his head on his wedged hand and smirked at her.
"You remember how we got here last night?"
"God yes! We have each had our share of memory losses and I don't think the audience can't handle more."
He frowned, "We each have had our share of memory losses?"
She bit her lip at the slip.
"I mean..."
"Zoya? Zoya?"
She came out of her trance only when he snapped his fingers in front of her face.
"Huh?"
"Do you remember how we got here last night? You went into a dreamy world after I asked you that. Were you reliving it?" he asked with a smirk.
She brought her hand to hit him across his chest but he caught her and pulled her on to him. She gasped at the bare skin to skin contact.
"How about we both relive it?" he added huskily, before capturing her mouth with his.
*****
He sipped his coffee as he changed the TV channels from his bed. Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw Zoya sitting in the couch biting her nails worried about something. Of course, he knew the reason. Sighing he switched off the TV. He couldn't see her like that.
"Zoya?"
"Huh?" she looked up.
"Give me my phone."
She reached to take his spare phone.
"No, my official phone."
Her face registered confusion and she asked, "But, you don't know the password."
He took a long breath before answering, "No, I know."
The quietness of the room was scattered when she dropped the phone.
The phone wasn't quite lucky, but she was, because Asad reached forward to catch his fainting wife.
