Goodwill Ambassador of UN Women, Farhan Akhtar attended an International Women's Day being held at New York. UN Women hosted this event on the occasion 20th anniversary of the historic Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing.
He went there along with wife Adhuna. Farhan spoke on gender issues and he tweeted, "I represent millions of Indian men who are concerned about gender equality."
"Gender violence and gender inequality is not just a women's issue. It's also a man's issue. It's not just because we have mothers, wives, sisters and daughters. We're here because it's a human rights issue and we are all human beings," Farhan said in a message. The actor also performed at a star-studded event there and presented a MARD (Men Against Rape and Discrimination) band to Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary General.
Farhan and Adhuna got themselves clicked with Patricia Arquette, Academy Award-winning actress, who was one of the speakers.
He summed up his thoughts by this tweet:
One pebble thrown in a pond = a ripple A thousand = a splash A million = a wave A billion = a level field Every voice counts. @UN_Women
