Soldiers have this thing ingrained in them during training about duty and country. Don't get me wrong there are a lot deserters but those that tough it out, those die hards who fight to the end, they truly believe in their sense of duty to the country. So here we have Arjun, jaded by the recent disaster but still standing guard. He probably has no clue who if anyone is running the show anymore but he is trying to guard the last remaining bastion of what was assigned to him. I like how Payal asks the most innocent questions, the type that you would expect from a child. Why didn't you then? Feels like she is still untouched by the calamity around her or maybe she is deciding to escape it mentally as well.
I wonder how these 4 will feel now realizing that there is not much authority left as a dejected Arnav found out. Was he hoping to find a place that has some semblance of an organized society that was broken from where they came from? This is each man for his own land now so they will have to form a strategy on how they will survive together and assign roles. This will determine their chance of survival and not having to beat each other for food. Yes, I do believe that out of chaos, one can define a process to sustain. You need a clear mind for that and an ability/willingness to work together with clear defined roles. Do they have this at this point in their journey?RB, I am loving this dialogue on humanity in a do or die situation. Btw, greed has been around since the beginning and will continue to be part of our psyche along with jealousy till we are turned into robots. Maybe this is where your story is headed, a Borg society . . .hahajust the Trekkie in me talking now.
