Ekta's TV awards relocates to UAE

Even though Turkey was announced as the initial venue, Ekta Kapoor's first Balaji TV Awards will now be held in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi. As reported, 'Ekta to hold telly awards' (July 20), the Balaji czarina will now be hosting her own awards gala.

Says a source, "It's being planned as the grandest TV awards show in association with Bunty Walia's GS Entertainment."

Bunty, who is currently taken up with the bail application of buddy Sanjay Dutt, says, "Ekta has asked us to organise her TV event. We've done two other events for her in the past."

Interestingly, Bunty plans to rope in film personalities to perform for Ekta's awards function. "So far, we've had only TV stars dancing at TV events. If it's Ekta, it's got to be larger than life. The event will be modern and keeping in mind the younger audience," says Bunty.

The Balaji awards will be held either in December 2007 or January 2008.

Gold Telly awards postponed

The Gold Telly Awards, slated to be held in Mauritius on September 8, has now been rescheduled to September 22. It is learnt that there were some accommodation hiccups. The awards event has been organised by Vikas Kalantri and Pooja Ghai of White Leaf Productions and Anuj Saxena of Maverick Productions.

There's buzz that Ekta Kapoor has forbidden Balaji actors from participating in this event.
