This reminds me of an exercise my grade school teacher used to make us repeat over and over - the art of summarizing. As kids we were going around in circles saying the same things over and over to try to add words to the essay assignment and he got tired of it. This is what a picture is meant to do right? To the point and the whole gamut of expressions are captured in 100 words.

This one painted a great picture that you are not the only one grieving and that others may be in worse situations that you. (Anjali has lost someone but Kushi may lose her sister).

04. Blood and Tears

The chaos surrounding them folds and unfolds in a cyclic tandem as they slip right through it. They grasp the limbo that exists at the fragile edges of chaos and order and finally breathe. They are simply two strangers who have seen frailty of human life.

He takes her hand in his and wipes the blood of pristine handkerchief. His sister called him old fashioned. He doesn't get it off as it's already dried. She squeezes the white cloth and yanks it from his hands.

He finally lets out a sob when she wipes his eyes with the bloody handkerchief.

At worlds end

Three days later, his grandmother died. And eight days later Shyam died.

Anjali had no tears left. Arnav looked tired. They both watched the television which echoed what was happening to them. Death had visited almost every family in a fortnight.

He wondered if the girl dress was still alive.

Five days later her parents and her aunt were dead.

The sisters waited for thirty six hours for their turn at the crematorium. No one did rituals anymore as the people who could do that are also dead.

Payal spent time looking at her neatly healing scars. Khushi hoarded grains.

I really wanted to write a story about two troubled people. Changed my mind today. :-) I am not sure how many people actually read this. I am writing this anyway.

Thanks. But I kinda lost interest in the story I wanted to tell.

Since I want to see this challenge through, I have deviated from that storyline completely today. I am going to have fun with this in a way I know how.
