Hello Hello!! 😊
After the dance of fire and passion last week, I was all ready for some serious action this week, but much to my disappointment, Sahir and his Lady of Lucknow seemed to have opted for a slightly more restrained state of affairs!
The week starts off with Valentines day and some cute moments between Mr Husband and Mrs Suno'. I did like the initial telephone exchange between them and Sahir's confusion after it ended (how can he go home at 4pm??), and then saying Mei ghar ja raha hu'...nicely done scene.
Now, to be fair, Sahir was ready for some action, but his Mrs didn't seem to want any of it (why Arzoo?? You guys nearly did it' last week! Why such hesitation when he tries to kiss you!)...very sweet exchange of words between Sahir and Arzoo where he tells her he hadn't noticed anything but her in the room, how she goes pink when embarrassed and red when angry and how she has full rights to show pride. Harshad really is a real master of romance! 😊
Next up was the ice-cream scene, which got a tad serious for a moment. Arzoo brings him homemade ice-cream. Sahir actually for a moment forgets and then remembers that he actually doesn't eat sweets other than Eid. Then came a great line from Arzoo - "I thought i would give you new memories today with just me and you..i had forgotten that i would always be losing to your past". Again, observe the change in Sahir. A while back he would have got incensed and walked away...now he shares why he won't eat it and even though Arzoo talks about his past, he is able to push away those sad feelings and promptly takes the ice cream. His mood isn't ruined for the evening indicating that the effect of Zeenat is lessening in him.
Then we had the pottery scene. Very sweet again...i would have liked Sahir to give Arzoo a kiss or even a nose snuggle whilst they were doing this, but again, like i said...seems the pair were in a restrained mood, so all we got were sweet smiles 😳
So now its Sahir's turn for a surprise...I'm not sure what Sahir was deliberating on, because i can think of a yaad' he could have given Arzoo (and the audience) that she would never forget, but alas...he remembered something else! 😆
So off they go to the outhouse where Sahir digs out his old guitar and serenades Arzoo with the 80's classic Ae mere humsafar' from QSQT. What a fantastic choice of song! I expected them to go classic as Sahir has been out of touch with music for at least 7 years so having him sing a recent song wouldn't have made sense, but was thinking maybe a 50's/60's song, but classic 80's? Very good CVs!
So Sahir seems to go back in time in this scene and he is that happy go lucky college student again, just enjoying the moment. We have never seen this side of Sahir and initially it felt strange. But then i realised I had this big grin on my face. The sparkle in his eyes as he sings, the expressions as he emphasised certain words, the sheer happiness on his face...wah! I was also lost in the moment with him as it took me back in time as well :-). Now as much as watching Sahir was a pleasure...Arzoo, i was a little disappointed in. I felt she could have looked a little more mesmerised than she did (like in the paratha scene)...and perhaps not standing behind him like that initially (may be she could have sat opposite him and then moved to sit next to him?)...also in the end, again i shall complain about lack of intimacy! Yaar, Valentines day tha, ek kiss tho banta hai boss!! But no, the phone rings!! Nevertheless, a beautiful scene. The choice of song was a masterstroke. I know that a lot of the audience will still be humming that QSQT song, smiling to themselves 😳
Now whilst all this sweet romance was going on, crazy Zee decides to go for a walk and ends up in SaAz room. I must say, i do love watching Zeenat! 👏...Neha Janpandit has been an excellent choice for this character and her acting is really superb. She brings out Zeenats feelings very well. It is clear that she doesn't want Sahir back because she loves him, but because she can't bear him being happy with someone else (which is reiterated later by ACP Rathod later in the week).
So then we move from romantic SaAz to unhappy SaAz! Sahir gets a phone call from the Aussie client and a slightly annoyed Arzoo goes off to get the file (Arzoo dear, if you had allowed a bit of action, believe me, Sahir wouldn't have picked up a call for anything! :-)) where she finds the Lucknow Project file and discovers that Sahir was the guy who had blown up the factory. I can kind of understand Arzoo's frustration when she says Every Time i think i know you, life shows another of your colours'. She has been trying hard to get all the secrets out of him these past few weeks and probably thought she knew most things, but bam..she find something knew. Worse still, she has spoken about this with Sahir a few times and he never mentioned anything on it. Quite wisely, Arzoo decides to sleep over it.
The most confusing thing about this scene was where Sahir ended up sleeping! Now, why Sahir is still on the sun lounger is beyond me! Um...I think its ok for him to be on the bed now..isn't it??? Is he waiting for an invitation card??? LOL
So next day, Arzoo has gone AWOL which leaves us with a very bechain' Sahir! But luckily, our Shark is just too smart and as always starts thinking about what could have upset Arzoo and starts tracing back the steps and realised that she must have seen the Lucknow Project file. Arzoo in the mean time is having a little chat with her shockingly happy looking mother who is all praises for her new found son'. Arzoo's self talk is nice here. "As hard as it was to love him, it is even harder to hate him. He doesn't tell me any of the bad stuff he does and he doesn't even tell me any of the good stuff". She simply can't face Sahir because she just doesn't know how to talk to him on this and ends up on the office.
Sahir hunts her down, opens the closed office door (overcoming his OCD again) and we get to hear my favourite dialogue of the week!
An annoyed Sahir confronts an equally annoyed Arzoo. She tells him she doesn't want to see his face! And after a long time we get a glimpse of that zindi' Sahir as he tells her that go ahead and shout at me, its your right, but if you run from me I WILL come behind you because that is my right! Go Sahir!
Now comes the crunch bit, Arzoo tells him sarcastically, yep, you looked after me well by burning down the factory...Sahir's response was exactly as i would expect Sahir to respond. Perfect. "I can't change what i have done, all i can do is try and lessen my mistakes". Arzoo is in a pretty negative state of mind and tells him that some things can't be fixed by trying and once glass breaks, it can never be re-joined. Sahir, is ever ready with a mature answer, saying "that is the difference between glass and a relationship". Arzoo, replies, "yes but relationships are based on the truth which you have always hidden and continue to hide. Every day i find a new secret in your life and i feel that even 10 lives isn't enough to understand you. ...Is Sahir good or bad?". Now i get Arzoo's state of mind. How can they truly be soul-mates if at every corner she finds out a new thing about it. Something bad. Its difficult for her. This is Sahir Azeem Chaudary, the man with 50 shades of grey. He has never claimed to be a saint and never pretended to be one. But underneath all of that is a heart made of gold that loves her in totality. And she loves him too.
So then comes Sahir's response. Is he good or bad? He says he doesn't know, but Sahir is human and not a god. Sahir has his faults and weaknesses. Everything Sahir has done has had a reason behind it and reasons are never right or wrong. From where i stand, i see the past behind me and in front of me, a dream, a hope...he ends by saying, like her, he is one to stay faithful to a relationship.
What i love about this whole dialogue, is Sahir is kind of unapologetic and stands by his actions. He knows some things were wrong and tried to rectify them when he realised. He is also telling her that he realises that behind him is a past where he has done many things that may not be right and many things which she may not know about. But in front of him stands his dream, her and is she going to forsake him for the things he has done in the past that he cannot change. He reminds her that it is easy to make a relationship but to maintain it is difficult, especially with a man like him. And also reminds her (because Arzoo is having doubts about their bond), that she is capable of staying faithful to this relationship as is he. Its a lot for Arzoo to take in and decided she is going to stay the night in the office and of course Sahir joins her. She is left wondering - how in the world can i ever hate this man? :-)
Undoubtedly the highlight of the week for me and goes down in my list of classic humsafar scenes.
Come morning, Arzoo still a bit annoyed, but she is getting there. Back in the room, she finds the the broken mug and starts having doubts again on their relationship. Have to admit, i was a tad annoyed at Arzoo for again getting all doom and gloom about her relationship, particularly after all those commitments she made to Sahir last week. I wonder if they are trying to show that when Sahir is on a weak footing, Arzoo steps in and vice versa. Arzoo is also human afterall. Anyway, again Sahir comes and tells her that this relationship of theirs isn't weak like this pot that it will break. And when you rejoin, unlike the pot, the relationship won't be left with marks. Looks like the message got through. Sahir apologises and Arzoo actually tells him there is no need, you must have had a reason. Again, would have been nice for him to have been holding her at the end before the phone rang!!!
Thus ends our SaAz scenes of the week as the focus moves onto the mystery angle, but i did like Arzoo's line after talking to her mother again where she finds out that the factory land has been returned - Ish bhi kiya to ek paheli se'...yep Arzoo..that pretty sums up your man..he is certainly a paheli and rest assured, there are still many more paheli's out there still to be discovered...
'm not going to go into too many details on our little mystery this week, but just wanted to touch on a few scenes:
Anam
It was the first time i was actually feeling bad for poor Anam! Why? Because we now have someone who is truly evil, Zeenat, at play, making Anam look like a pussy cat! What i liked here is once again, Anam stayed very true to her character. She is an ambitious woman, and her real concern more than anything is her career progression. She is very straight with Arzoo on this topic as well.
Sahir and Alvira
When Sahir hands Alvira the poem (which was really lovely), we get exposed to another side of Sahir again..the motherless child dreaming about what his mother may have been like. To say he found that mother in Alvira is a big statement for him to make. I truly hope Alvira is worthy of the pedestal else we will have another heartbreak in store for our dear Sahir.
3) Sahir and Zeenat
After the office scene, this was my second favourite scene of the week and my title for this analysis is dedicated to this scene.
It really brought home the impact of Zeenat in his life and the price he had to pay for it. She exacerbated his insecurities and destroyed his self-respect. She left him without any self-worth and then kicked him some more. Out of this rejection, pain and betrayal rose the Sahir Azeem Chaudary we have been observing over the past few months. His obsession with honouring his promise had turned him into a man possessed. We find out that Zee had sent him divorce papers and in fact he has not signed them yet, waiting for his promise to be fulfilled. Indicated how he wanted to leave all those wounds unhealed so every day he could feel them, fuelling his obsession.
And now when they day has come, and he has won, he says that all of this seems pointless, indicating that he is finally free from Zeenat. It has taken 7 long years to get there, but at last her the need to feel worthy in her eyes is gone.
The best line, came at the end when he tells her that if there was one good thing he got out of all of this, then that was Arzoo 😳
Overall a decent week, biggest problem i had was lack of physical contact between SaAz. Even the hug after Sahir saves Arzoo was short-lived! ACP Rathod and Zee did more (not one but two kisses!!!) in a single scene, then these guys did through the whole week!! :-)...come one CVs, i want to serious SaAz ACTION in the final week - please!!! 😉
