Humsafars | Preparing a Scene

Preparing a scene in Humsafars is a team work. Especially one as important as near consummation. Present on the set were Director Seema Choudhary, Creative Producer Gorky, Creative Director Nimisha Pandey and the artists Harshad Chopda and Shivya Pathania. Of course, the rest of the team includes, the Camera Man and Assistant Directors for the show Humsafars.

The choreography of the scene that was to first have Harshad and Shivya who play Saahir Azim Choudhary and Aarzoo Nausheen Khan was to go through an emotional upheaval and then come closer together. As this happens, the moments were created that would ensure that the scene was done in a manner that is not just believable but tasteful. It is not easy to perform for a scene like this with a room full of people. The creative, direction and camera team worked out the scene, then sat and demonstrated it to the artist and even at certain point made them watch to show them what was expected.

Of course, certain moments are tough and this was one of them. Do see how Gorky showed Harshad the fall that he and Shivya were to have on the bed. Gorky explained how it was to be brought about and then Harshad and Shivya did the rehearsal to get the movement right so that the camera department can get the angles right.

The other aspect was pulling the dupatta. Gorky and Assitant Director, showed two different ways of pulling the dupatta to Harshad, one with one hand and second with two hands and the consensus was two hands, which you saw in the scene.

Now, comes the near kiss. It may seem hilarious and yes, we all had poked a little fun at both Harshad and the Assistant Director (we do not want to reveal his identity to maintain his dignity) as they came together in a clinch. This of course, is part of our behind the scene segment where we show-case to you pictorially, how a preparation for a scene is done.

Then the scene was shot and we bring how, the team shoots it. You can see in the picture, the camera set up with Seema, Gorky, Nimisha and the rest of the direction and camera department watching the shoot on the monitor.
