Part 32- You can count on me..

(this chapter has some moments in a flash.. not too much detail.. only to show what is actually going on..)

Antu??????? Raghu called her on top of his lungs..

haaannn..!! 2 min bas...

Antu! what 2 min.. u said the same 1 hr back..

arey! to i'm busy na...

u're making that rangoli for last 4 hrs.. it's still not done..

now stop that and come here.. i need ur help..

it's almost done..wait for a few more minutes..

Aeeeyyy!!! what are you doing..? those flowers are for decoration.. don't touch those.. Raghu screamed . when he saw antara taking some flowers which he brought for pooja room decoration..

Rangoli is also a part of decoration.. so chill.. Antara raised her brow and replied..

Raghu was decorating the wall standing on a table..and before he could step down.. antara ran outside..

she completed the rangoli and decorated it with flowers..

now come and see...! she called him.. u'll be so proud of me..

I'm always proud of u.. Raghu stood behind her and whispered in her ear..

she smiled hearing that from him...kaisi hai??

"bahut sudar..." Raghu looked at her and said..

Antara kept looking at Rangoli and smiled with happiness.. sach mein...??

sach mein..!

she din't see what he was referring to.. she turned and looked at him..

now.. i'll help u in decoration.. he smiled and they both came inside and started decorating their pooja room...

antara ran in to their bedroom and came with the laptop.. what is this for??

arey you remember how we did pooja at that temple.. i have full video recording of that..

they both sat together and did diwali pooja...

Antu! we are getting late.. they have started it..Raghu called antara..

they had a diwali function outside organized by their colony..

let me change first.. there will be fireworks too.. i don't wanna go in saree.. will wear something easier..

its ok..we are already getting late..

ok coming..

they both came outside and joined their neighbors.. it was big lawn in middle of the society decorated with flowers and lights.. fireworks, sweets, games, dinner.. everything was organized very well..

they all had dinner together and wished diwali to each other..

after an hour raghu called antara on her phone..she wondered why he was calling..

she picked the call and he called her outside a few meters away from the main gathering spot..

it was quite dark here but she was able to see him..

he cut the call as he saw her and she came forward to him..

he held her hand and brought her in side of the lawn..

he had already spread a sheet over grass.. and made her sit over that..

he looked at her lovingly.. it's our first diwali together...

she nodded in yes.. i wanted to celebrate it with you only.. but attending this function was also necessary..

they invited us two three times so i couldn't refuse..

he made her sit comfortably and brought a basket with him...

he arranged a very small table near them and placed a lamp over it..

she chuckled.. it's diwali.. it shouldn't be dark here.. hmm..?

hmm.. he gave her the matchbox and she lit the lamp...

he looked at her face in its light and sighed..

she looked at him in awe.. and was feeling nervous feeling his gaze over her..

what are you up to..? she gulped her saliva and asked in low voice..

why? are you scared..? he asked in his husky voice..

i'm curious..

oh!

nothing.. i just wanna talk to you..

what??

anything..

we can talk at home too..

i know but doesn't this place look better for a change..

a cold breeze touched their faces and she shivered...

she looked around.. every house.. every building was shining with lights.. they were sitting in an open lawn.. they could see the fireworks in the sky..

kids playing in park.. people having chit chat in the garden.. but no one could see them..

she din't know how to tell him how much she loved this place...

when he asked her to talk anything.. she just nodded in yes..

he held her hand and laid on the sheet placing his head in her lap..

she brushed her hand in his hairs and he closed his eyes..

Antu..?

hmm..

i wanna talk you something important..something serious actually..

hmm.. i'm listening..

but you'll have to promise me that u won't get upset... if u don't agree with what i said u would just tell me.. but won't get angry..

aisa kya kahne wale ho..

Raghu bit his lip with his teeth.. he looked above and their eyes met..

Antu.. i want to... and before he could complete his sentence.. his phone buzzed..

it was from his home..mrs naik called to know if they did Diwali pooja properly..

Raghu rolled his eyes and forwarded the phone to Antu..

after a few minutes of conversation she cut the call and came to Raghu and asked him what he was saying..

he looked away and nodded in no.. nothing..!

u're angry.. hmm??

um..hm..

she gave him his phone and he kept it in his pocket.. he sat down and collected the stuffs he arranged..

Antara wounded her arms in his neck and hugged him from behind..

batao na..aap us waqt kya kah rahe the..

kuchh nahi.. baad mein batata hoon...

naraj na ho.. maa ka phone kaise cut kar deti.. unhone wish karne ke liye kiya tha...

hmm..he loosened the hug and stood facing her..

give me ur phone.. i'll call her back and will tell that her son is angry because he was talking me something important and u called in between... he looked at her and she chuckled..

achchha suno...he held her shoulders gently and said

hmm...

promise me.. u won't get upset...

i hv already heard that.. n i won't get upset.. i promise..

okay..he licked the lower lip and looked at her.. his grip got tighter on her shoulders..

umm.. actually..

u promise na.. u won't get upset...

didn't i just say so... and why r u so nervous?? she chuckled..

i'm not nervous.. i just don't know how to say it..

what?.. u're behaving like u're gonna propose me..

even that would be easier...he took a deep breath...and looked into her eyes..

Antu...

she nodded in yes..

main chahta hoon.. ki hum dono...

she kept looking into his eyes and nodded in yes..

Raghu Bhaiyya?? u're here.. we looked for u everywhere.. c'mon..we are starting the program.. a guy almost 10-12 yrs old called him..

he gritted his teeth in frustration and Antara burst out in laughter..

forget it..! Raghu said in irritation..

Antara held his hand and stopped him.. it's ok.. don't get mad.. tell me.. hum dono?? she looked at him and raised his brows..

Raghu bhaiyya?? Antara bhabhi.. come na..

he came there and saw them.. is everything ok.. what r u doing here..?

mumma papa are also looking for u...he held Raghu's hand and dragged him with him.. Antara tried to control her laugh..and raghu looked at her with angry glares..

Everybody gathered in the lawn.. they had organized some cultural programs..

they all got engrossed in that. there were some kids performing a dance sequence on the stage which was arranged a bit higher... and some kids were standing in the balcony waiting for their performance...

Raghu was just moving here and there near the stage...he was not interested in the program at all..

today he wanted to tell antara that he wants their relation to move forward...

that he wants to start a new life afresh with her...

but everything was spoiled.. and now he doesn't even have words to express his feelings..

he was being restless.. he wanted to talk to Antara.. but first his mood got spoiled and now she was busy with other ladies..

and she was right.. they all gathered here after so long.. they all respect Raghu so much.. she can't just leave them here and spend all time with him..

he was lost in his thoughts.. and heard her voice calling his name..

he looked in the direction that voice came from.. and couldn't believe his eyes that she was running towards him calling his name.

a smile appeared on his lips.. ..

he was frozen at his place..Antara ran to him and pushed him away..

he fell down and for a moment he couldn't realize what did just happen..

he looked at her.. and his eyes got widened...

a big tray of lighten lamps fell on her.. she was lying on the floor.. and her saree caught fire...

he got up and ran towards her..

WATER!!!!!! he screamed..

he removed his shirt and tried to put the fire out with that..

without having a second thought.. Raghu pulled her saree pallu and torn it apart..

some people splashed water on them..and extinguished the fire..

Antara was crying.. Raghu looked at her and realized her condition..

he picked her saree and then he immediately picked her in his arms and she wounded her arms in his neck..

Raghu?? two three people from neighborhood called him..

its ok.. i'll tk cr of her..

he rushed towards their home and went directly went into the bedroom..

he made her sit on the bed.. her sobs made his heart wrenching..

Antu.. i'll call the doctor.. he was about to move to take his phone.. when she stopped him.

i'm fine...there is no need to call the doc... i'll be fine.. u please don't go anywhere...stay here.. with me..

he hugged her immediately.. she hugged him back..

Part 33- First step from Raghu's side...

Raghu rushed towards their home and went directly went into the bedroom..

he made her sit on the bed.. her sobs made his heart wrenching..

Antu.. i'll call the doctor.. he was about to move to take his phone.. when she stopped him.

i'm fine...there is no need to call the doc... i'll be fine.. u please don't go anywhere...stay here.. with me..

he hugged her immediately.. she hugged him back..

why did u do that.. it was supposed to be me..

she nodded in no.. and her grip got stronger on him..

he snuggled in her nape and hugged her tight.. you scared me.. what if something has happened to you..

i was shaken..

me too.. she cried..

he pulled her more into him and made her sit on his lap..

he caressed his hand on her hairs and she roamed her hands on his bare back..

they both had tears in their eyes.. and a fear of loosing one another...

first, the hesitation of confessing his feelings to his own wife.. then a fear of loosing his only best friend.. made him tremble...

antara closed her eyes in fear remembering the moment when she saw that tray of lamps falling over Raghu... she held him tight in her arms leaving scratches on his back..

her lips touched his shoulder and tears rolled down over her cheeks...

she kissed on his shoulder..and hid herself in his nape..

why didn't you hear my voice.. what if something would have happened to you..

she hugged him more.. kissed his neck and hit him with her small fists.. his shoulder and neck were soaked in her tears...

he hugged her tight in his arms.. i'm sorry.. you're hurt because of me.. i'm so sorry...

they both snuggled into each other's neck..Raghu kissed on her shoulder..

he kissed her nape..moving down to her collarbone and then her throat..

i'm so sorry.. i'm so sorry..tears were rolling on his cheeks..

as he kissed her throat and nuzzled on her neck moving upward.. her fingers brushed in his hairs and clutched them..

they embraced each other like there was no room for air.. he kissed her jawline.. then her left cheek.. and then left eye...

his hands roamed on her back and she hissed in pain.. her slight whimper made him stop..

her eyes got moist with the pain..he looked at her while still hugging her...

seeing her in pain.. he loosened the hug.. and realized her condition..

he moved back and made her sit down on the bed again..she lowered her eyes..

he rushed into the kitchen.. got a bowl and a clean cloth and came back..

he stopped seeing her sitting all cuddled in herself.. he walked towards the bed and sat beside her..

before he could say anything.. their doorbell rang..

i'll chk... he said.. and rushed outside..

he opened the door.. they were same people from gathering..

he smiled meakly...

how is she??..

she is ok...

should we call the doctor..

its ok... if that will be needed i'll let you know..

ok.. tk cr..

yeah! thanks again..

they smiled back and left...

Raghu came back to Antara... she was cleaning her leg with the water.. but stopped and slid her skirt down as she saw him..

he also looked away.. and walked towards her..

taking that cloth from her.. he sat beside her

its ok.. i'm fine.. i'll do it..

let me see it..

he made her turn.. and moved her hairs aside..

he first cleaned the dust from her back and wiped the water gently..then saw red marks over there...

a pain appeared in his eyes..he made her to face him..

kahan jala hai..? he asked..

she nodded in no..

he sat down on the floor..and slowly moved her burnt skirt up..

she held his hand but he ignored her and removed her hand...

her skirt was almost burnt till her knees so was her skin turned all red..

he cleaned the dust and burnt wounds and placed a gentle kiss near her ankle..

she looked at him and held his hands.. and made him sit on the bed..

his hands were burnt too.. she remembered when he tried to put the fire out with his hands and shirt...

tears rolled down on her cheeks... she held his hands and kissed on his palms..

its ok.. i'm fine..he said and wiped her tears

he got up and opened her closet.. and came back to her with a clean set of clothes and towel..

i'll change..

i know.. i'll apply the medicines.. or u'll get blisters..

he went into the bathroom to change into a trouser and a vest..

she called him after changing her clothes...

he made her lie on his side of bed and gently applied burn relief gel on her back and legs...

his eyes were moist.. he could not believe that she can go to this extent to save him..

he was overwhelmed by this incident..as much as he was shaken...

he felt proud on himself that he has antara in his life..

his eyes were teary.. which he din't want her to see.. after a few minutes he switched off the lights and slipped in her duvet..

As he was about to lie there.. antara looked at him..

he licked his lips and looked at her...

wo!! that side is wet now.. so..

she din't say anything but switch the table lamp on..

she took the gel tube and asked him to give his hand to her..

ur hands are burnt too..

kya jaroorat thi herogiri dikhane ki... itne jyada jal gaye hai.. she said in a low voice..

achchha?? main dikha raha tha herogiri.. ya tum??

kya jaroorat thi.. mujhe bacha ke khud marne ki...

kuchh ho jata to..

aapne bacha liya na... she said while applying gel on his palms...

aisa dobara mat karna.. tumhe kuchh ho jata.. to main mar jata...

she placed her hand on his mouth and nodded in no..

aapko kuchh ho jata.. to main mar jati..

in both cases, dono hi mar jate... they both smiled meakly.. with tears in their eyes...

they hugged each other gently and slipped in the duvet.. she was about to switch the lamp off.. when he stopped her.. so she dimmed the light..

hmm...?

Antu.. i wanted to talk u something..

hmm.. i know.. u tried many times.. bt every time u were interrupted..

yeah!...he chuckled..

i know it's not a time to discuss these stuffs.. n u should take rest..

but i don't know if i'll be able to gain this much courage again or not..

i wanted to say this from a very long time.. but i could never get that much strength..

they both were lying in same duvet.. facing each other..

Raghu held her hand firmly in his grip.. and gulped his saliva..

his nervousness made her heart skip a beat..

she was about to touch his face.. but he held her hand..

aapke haath jale hai.. dard hoga.. she tried to release her hand from his grip..

but he nodded in no..nahi hoga...

Antu.. main chahta hoon.. ki ab hum dono apne aane wale kal ke baare mein soche..

humara future..aur humari family ki baare mein soche..

she nodded in yes..

when we got married.. we thought that was the best for us.. and it was..

but we can't spend our whole life like this..

we took a decision for us.. but we are answerable to our families..

they have some expectations from us..

hmm???

she nodded in yes..

we should be practical.. because i thought about it a lot..

and sooner or later.. our families might question about the relationship we share..

its been an year to our marriage.. after 1 or two years they will expect their grand children from us..

Antara lowered her eyes.. Raghu lifted her chin and made her look into his eyes..

i don't want u to feel low about this..and that's why i am discussing all this with u...

should we adopt a child?? she asked..

he scoffed and nodded in no...

its not only about the baby.. its about us too..

no matter if we are besties... there is always a hesitation between us..

i don't want to us feel uncomfortable with each other...not any more..

I want u to feel shy in front of me.. not embarrassed..

she looked at him in awe.. she couldn't believe he was saying all this..

i want u to hold my hand whenever u want to and with all rights...rather than taking my permission...

i want to have you in my arms whenever i need u.. and i don't want to feel hesitated for that...

i want us to feel each other in a way that we can never be apart..

Rag... she was about to say something.. but he placed his finger on her lips and made her quiet..

i want our relationship to move forward.. i want us to move it forward..

many people have undefined relations in this world.. we are lucky that we have a name for our relation, a name for the feelings we have for each other...

now i want us to spend our life really like a husband wife..

Do you love me??... she asked in a low but confident voice..

more than anything...

like a husband.. ?

then.. how would...

people do arrange marriage.. initially they don't love each other.. but gradually they start having those feelings for each other..

and then we are friends.. we know each other so well..

problem is.. we never tried to be what we are.. we never behaved like a husband wife..

may be if we had.. we would have started having those feelings already..

we should give a chance to our relation..

may be that will be the start of our love life...we will also fall in love with each other...

and what if you never felt anything.. if u never fell in love with me...

he laid flat and looked at the ceiling.. he was relieved that finally he said what he wanted to..

but he was little tensed as Antara didn't say anything.. which was unexpected from her..

is she hurt..? he thought.. i'll talk to her..because i don't want to hurt her anymore..

And Antara... her whole body was shivering remembering what Raghu said to her few minutes back..

she was still not able to believe all that...

does he really find her worthy that he wants to spend his life with her..and want to consider her as his wife..

"we should give a chance to our relation...we will fall in love with each other..." his words echoed in her mind and her eyes got moist...

they both closed their eyes.. and remembered the moment when today they snuggled into each other..

it sent shivers to their spine down..

sleeping in the same duvet made them feel awkward..

their hearts were beating fast.. but they couldn't turn and look at each other..

"what if u never fall in love with me..".. he recalled what she said..

i already started having strange feelings... and i want myself to realize what i feel..

may be u can help me with that... he thought...

"I want u to feel shy in front of me.. not embarrassed.." she couldn't control herself and tears rolled down on her cheeks..

Raghu heard her sob.. and his heart wrenched...

without saying or asking anything...

he made her turn towards him.. taking care of her injuries..

and gently took her in his embrace...

do u really mean all that u said before.. "i want us to feel each other in a way that we can never be apart.." echoed in her mind...

i do.. he said and placed a soft kiss on her forehead...

i know what u're feeling...i know.. i said everything all of a sudden..

but u don't need to be scared...

trust me.. Antu.. I will never hurt u..

i told u all this.. but we would never do anything unless u're comfortable..

she didn't say anything and hid herself in his arms.. he took her in his embrace and they both closed their eyes,...though sleep was far away from their eyes...
