CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN
There was a man standing there with a bouquet of beautiful red roses in his hand, he was dressed in black faded jeans and a white t-shirt with a brown leather jacket and sun glasses. Raman had to admit he was quite handsome and wondered what he was looking for or who he was looking for
'Hey good afternoon...'' said the man removing his sun glasses that exposed his dreamy dark eyes
'Good afternoon, how may I help you...'' said Raman
'I am not even sure am at the right residence but I am looking for Ishita Iyer does she live here?'' he asked
'She goes by Ishita Kumar Bhalla now, am sorry how do you know her...'' said Raman who was getting curious
'Oh yeah she is married now ...'' Said the man smilingly
'Do I know you...'' asked Raman
'Oh yeah forgive my manners, I am Abhimanyu Raghav...'' he answered
Abhimanyu extended his hand to say hello to a man he by now imagined was Ishita's husband and he had to admit she had good taste. When she got married he was abroad and was not able to attend it so this actually was the first time that he was seeing her since she got married, he only wished she had finally managed to let go and be happy.
Raman stood there staring at Abhimanyu in disbelief because if this was a joke it definitely was not funny. He all of a sudden started to feel insecure like never before and worried like all of a sudden his relationship was already doomed.
'Yeah am sorry, could you please repeat that again. What did you just say...'' asked Raman
'Is Ishita home...'' Said Abhimanyu
'No no who did you say you are..'' said Raman
'Oh My name is Abhimanyu Raghav, why do we know each other?'' Said Abhimanyu
He watched as Raman looked at him as though he had seen a ghost or had suddenly travelled in a world of his own.
Raman had a million things going on in his mind, what the hell was happening? What was this man doing here at his door step? Who even showed him his house? What the hell is this...
'Hey man are you okay, you look like you have seen a ghost.'' Raman suddenly came back to earth as he heard Abhimanyu talking
'Raman who is that...'' called out Ishita
'Oh yeah sorry, please come on in...'' Raman finally managed to say
'Thank you...'' said Abhimanyu as he walked in and waited for Raman to lead the way
Raman closed the door and led Abhimanyu into the living room. He could see Ishita was sitting on the couch with a magazine in her hand
'Ishu Ishu how is my favourite gril in the whole world doing...'' he finally managed to say
Ishita held her breath hoping and praying that the voice she heard wasn't actually in her head.
She finally looked up to comform that the voice she had heard was actually for the person she thought
'Oh God Mani, Is that really you...''she said looking shocked
'Of course it is. Now what is this I hear about you being clumsy and breaking bones falling down stairs'' Said Abhimanyu as he pointed at her bandaged ankle
Ishita slowly limped to where Abhimanyu was standing and embraced him, hugging him so tight as if making up for all the time she couldn't. Abhimanyu hugged her speaking in her ear saying
'Oh God I missed you so much...''
'Yeah I missed you too'' said Ishita as she slowly let go of his embrace and looked at him
Abhimanyu could see there were tears in her eyes and he hated that. He always had a trick that whenever any of his sisters were sad no matter what he would try and make light of the situation just so they didn't feel so bad about it
'Wait are those tears for me. I never thought I would see the day you would tear up just because you have seen me...'' Said Abhimanyu teasingly as he let out a small laugh as she did
'Oh shut it. I just really missed you and didn't realize how much until I saw you.'' she said she tried to wipe her tears but Abhimanyu beat her to it wiping her tears with his thumb
'Well for what it is worth, I really missed you too'' he smilingly said his eyes slightly teary
Raman stood there and watched them as they talked to each other Abhimanyu handing her the flowers as if there was no one else in the room. He saw that they shared as bond so strong and probably understood each other better than anybody else. He realized that whatever this, whatever it was was going to be a problem.
He didn't like it when he hugged her, made hr laugh, made her smile, wiped her tears and most importantly didn't like the fact the she was so free with him in a way so different from him. She was never like that with anyone not even Mihika. He didn't like it, he didn't like it one bit.
'Uhh Ishu are you going to introduce me...'' Said Abhimanyu looking at Raman
'Oh yeah excuse my manners, Raman please come one...'' Said Ishita as she took Raman's hand and led him to where Abhimanyu was standing
'Mani this is Raman Kumar Bhalla, My very good, very awesome and very handsome husband...'' Said Ishita smilingly
'And Raman this is Abhimanyu Raghav, we lovingly call him Mani, he is my best friend. We have been to the darkest corner of hell and we have survived the. If there is anyone in the world who every really knows about me, it is him...'' she innocently said
'Hey nice to officially meet you'' Said Abhimanyu as he brought his hand forward to greet Raman again
Raman first looked at him for a few seconds before he finally brought his hand and greeted him saying
'Hey nice to meet you too but I don't think we have meet. You didn't attend the wedding ...'' said Raman hoping to get a sense of who he was
'Oh yeah I am so sorry about that. I was taking care of something that I just couldn't pull away form to be honest. That is why I couldn't attend. I apologize for that.'' Answered Abhimanyu
'Oh yeah, what was so important you couldn't attend your sister's wedding...'' Said Raman looking sternly at Abhimanyu
'Everything I do, I do for her and if I wasn't there at the wedding, it was very justified trust me.'' He answered sensing Raman didn't like him very much
Ishita sensed something was a bit off but knowing these two egotistic men, this wasn't going to end do she decided to butt in
'So Mani what the hell are you doing in India and how the hell did you get here'' she said as he lead him to take a seat with her
'Well for starters I needed to get away from mom like seriously...'' he said to which Ishita laughed and said
'Why don't you just listen to her anyway, I for one think she is right.''
'Oh please do not start...'' he answered defensively
'Why don't you just get married anyway'' Asked Ishita letting out a small laugh
'You know why...'' he said looking at her
Ishita looked at him and smiled knowing full well what he was talking about but also felt bad for him because she knew it was something that was probably never going to happen. But He had had a crush on Mihika for the longest time and she was the reason for most of his scars but he much like her was a master at hiding how he felt, it was how they survived. Mihika who was a master at reading everyone's emotions was really horrible at reading them when it came to herself.
Raman wanted to know why the guy wasn't married, what did he mean by 'you know why'' and why did he look at his wife like that. This whole scenario wasn't sitting well with him at all and he had to do something about it
'Ishita I will be in the bedroom if you need me...'' Said Raman
'Wait why. Is everything okay?'' she asked slightly worried
'No everything is okay, just keep your friend company...'' he said coldly as he walked away
Ishita knew something was wrong but didn't know what exactly it was. She looked at Abhimanyu and excused herself as she followed Raman to the next room
'Raman what is wrong? Did I do something wrong?'' said Ishita
'No not at all, just keep your friend company we will talk when you are done.'' Said Raman
'I am sorry...'' she found herself saying
'What for...'' he asked
'I am not sure but I can tell your not happy.'' She answered
Raman looked at her and he could see was genuinely concerned and he found that extremely sweet that she cared enough about his feelings to notice something was off.
'Ishita am fine, you worry too much...'' said Raman
'If you say so...'' she said as she let go of his hand. He turned to walk upstairs when she said
'I am no angel Raman, if you do not tell me what is wrong, how am I going to know what is going on...'' she said before she finally walked back into the living room.
Raman was left standing on the stairway feeling completely idiotic for his actions and also horrible for the way he made her feel.
'Hey you never did tell me how you got here...'' said Ishita as she back into the living room
'Is everything okay?'' asked Abhimanyu
'Of course it is... Now come on tell me how did you find me.'' Said Ishita trying to change the topic which didn't go unnoticed by Abhimanyu but like her, he just ignored it
'We were having car trouble so Mihika asked me to just come along she gave me directions. She will be here in a while...'' He said trying to cover up why he was actually there
'You left Mihika alone with the car?
'Yeah I did what is the big deal, she insisted...'' answered Abhimanyu
'Uh ha who do you think your fooling with that story. Jai is here isn't he?'' said Ishita
She and Jai hadn't talked since the Sarika incident and to be honest she really didn't want to but if Abhimanyu was here, her mom must been involved. She always left them to solve their misunderstandings and only intervened when things got bad, like what it was between her and Jai.
'Well yeah but that is not even the point...'' Said Abhimanyu but Ishita just kept looking at him
'Ishuuu...'' came Mihika
'Hey Mihika how have you been...'' Said Ishita hugging Mihika
'I have been way too busy and way too stressed with work. I swear I need a vacation.'' Said Mihika took her seat
'Well I agree and I think you should go with Mani, you two might actually have an adventure'' said Ishita clearly directing that comment to Abhimanyu
'Mani and adventure so not exist in the same sentence.'' Said Mihika laughingly before she added
'Enough about me, how are you doing? We heard about your accident, that wasn't so accidental if you ask me...'' Said Mihika
'Ms Bobby Jasoos please stop. I was an accident really and I am absolutely fine' Said Ishita

Abhimanyu and Mihika all first kept quiet for a while and looked at each other before Mihika stood up to go and tell Jai to come in.
'Ishu please go soft on him...'' Said Abhimanyu as the door opened and Jai walked in.

CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT
'Enough about me, how are you doing? We heard about your accident, that wasn't so accidental if you ask me...'' Said Mihika
'Ms Bobby Jasoos please stop. I was an accident really and I am absolutely fine' Said Ishita
'Yeah whatever your preaching honey, remember I have a spy here and I get everything first hand.'' Said Mihika clearly meaning Ruhi
'Okay enough about that, Is the person who is the reason you came her going to stay outside forever or are we going to chitchat until it gets dark.'' Asked Ishita
Abhimanyu and Mihika all first kept quiet for a while and looked at each other before Mihika stood up to go and tell Jai to come in.
'Ishu please go soft on him...'' Said Abhimanyu as the door opened and Jai walked in.
Ishita looked as his brother timidly walked into the room taking few strides each step he took. He was looking down the entire time because he didn't have the courage see the way Ishita was looking at him. When he finally made his way into the living room where Ishita was sitting, he just stood still and didn't utter a word.
There was an awkward silence in the room and Abhimanyu and Mihika kept looking at each other each hoping the other does something because this wasn't going anywhere.
Jai and Ishita were what you call old fashioned siblings, unless you knew there story you would never guess that they were not blood related, they always fought and bickered like all siblings do but they had one principle that no matter how angry they were with each other, they would never let it affect their relationship. They would always make up at the end of it all and become best of friends but this fight they were having was bad.
Ishita was the one person you would wish is your corner when things got bad because she is the most relentless and loyal person you would ever met but she also had one principle of her own, when she gave up on someone, that was it, no matter how much you needed her, she would never turn her head because then that was it.
Jai went back to Mumbai with the hope that his sister's anger would cool off and maybe she would eventually call him like she always did but this time, nothing like that happened. He knew that this was bad and he had to fix it.
'Ishu where is that sweet daughter of yours, Ruhi, I want to meet her.'' Said Abhimanyu just so the tension in the room could just calm down a little
'She is up stairs with her brother, Aditya'' said Ishita as she was still looking at Jai
'Oh I really wanted to say hello...'' said Abhimanyu
'I will take you to her she in her room...'' Said Ishita as she tried to get up
'Oh no please let me, besides I haven't seen that beautiful angel in a very long time...'' Said Mihika as she got up and grabbed Abhimanyu with her leaving the room before Ishita changed her mind
Ishita knew exactly what her sister and best friend were trying to do and knew much as she really didn't want to deal with this; it was something that was inevitable
'So how are you feeling...'' she finally heard Jai talk
'Doing alright actually, you...'' she asked
'Am okay...'' answered Jai before another round of awkward silence began
'Are you okay?'' Said
'You asked me that already...'' said Ishita coldly
'Yeah right sorry... I went back to work and I quit on the job with Raman.'' He said enthusiastically with the hope that she might too
'Why did you? Please do not do it on my accord, I wouldn't like for you to again say I smother you.'' She said
Jai just stood there and listened to his sister talk to him like he was some kind of stranger
'This is ridiculous I need to go...'' Said Ishita as she tried to get up
'This is not fair you know...'' he said
'What...'' she asked
'This isn't fair, I admit I was wrong to just stand there and listen to her talk to you that way but I was shocked as you were and I never expected her to do that. But that was her own opinion you can't seriously fault me there.'' Said Jai as he walked and stood in front of Ishita
'Well for someone to form an opinion there had to be a basis and am sure she didn't just come out of the blue and think I take you for granted.'' Said Ishita
'Ishita please, I may have told her a thing or two about me, it is what happens when you fall in love and want your partner to trust you but I never not once told her all those things about you.'' Said Jai
'Whatever, get out of my way I want to go check on my husband and kids...'' Said Ishita
'No your are not going away and ignoring me, you are going to have to talk to me'' Said Jai sanding in her way again
'The only reason your this mad at me is because you believe a part of what she said is true and I am so pissed at you for thinking that can even be right.'' Said Jai as he slowly started to tear up which shocked Ishita
'We never talk about Lunknow because you do not want us to and I get that but you have never given me a chance to let you know how I feel about the whole thing.'' Said Jai
'Jai please just...'' Ishita tried to say but Jai interrupted
'Mama died when I was 6 years old and you were 8. You could have chosen to leave me and go your own way but you choose to take care of me like I was your own brother. I got sold to that evil woman and you walked in offered to work until you earned enough to buy me back, you were 9 years. She beat you, starved you and made you do things that even I couldn't quite fathom how you survived but you did just so I could be here today''
'Jai please just forget this...'' Ishita tried to stop her brother but he wasn't having it
'That idiot tried to kill me and Mihika but you stopped him, I do not care that he was my dad Ishita, he was a bad man, if you hadn't done that he would have killed us, all of us, me, Mihika and Abhimanyu, He never cared about anyone except his reputation, his wife and his alcohol. You are the reason I am here, with a family and an amazing one at that, how in the world would you think that I would ever blame you for what happened back in Lucknow.'' Said Jai in one breath finally letting go breaking down
Ishita just stood still and didn't have it in her to even say anything about that. Twenty years is when all this happened and this was the first time Jai was actually saying anything about it. She never wanted to believe Sarika but a part of her always thought maybe Jai blamed her for what happened to his father, she was after all the reason he was dead.
'I never said thank you for what you did so I am saying it today. Thank you for being a sister, a mother and a friend but most importantly you for your unconditional love and kindness because you are the reason I am here today.'' She heard Jai speak
Ishita looked at her brother and broke down because for a split second he had managed to bring down his walls and in the process as well as hers, something that hadn't been possible in a very long time. She just slowly walked over to where her brother was now standing and embraced him in a warm hug, forgiving and forgetting all the hurt and pain but also acknowledging a bond between them that was never to be broken or shattered no matter what.
Meanwhile Raman was seated upstairs still feeling horrible for what happened earlier with his wife. She had not given him a reason to doubt her and he was getting unnecessarily agitated and angry. The least he could do with everything she has done for him was try and get along with her family. So he decided to just go down stairs and try and be a good host. He checked on the kids who seemed to be in a world of their own with their video game before he finally proceeded down stairs
He could hear people in the kitchen talking in the kitchen and wondered if Simmi was back so he went and checked but instead he heard Abhimanyu talking
'I thought you were taking me to see Ruhi''
'Her bedroom is in Raman's room, you want to go to Raman's room?'' asked Mihika
'Oh God No,...'' Said Abhimanyu as he took a seat on the dining table
'Do you think they will be alright?'' said Mihika
'Well for the first time I am not so sure, she was really hurt you know.'' Said Abhimanyu
''Okay you were not even in India when this happened, so how the hell did you know this?'' said Mihika
'You know she told me...'' Said Abhimanyu
'Is there anything Ishita doesn't tell you, seriously your closeness with her is not normal...'' Said Mihika
' Well for starters she is as close to me as she is to you and also she doesn't tell me everything believe me.'' Said Abhimanyu
'Oh yeah like what...'' Said Mihika as she came to sit close to Abhimanyu
'Well she didn't tell me about her and Raman...'' Said Abhimanyu
Mihika first looked at Abhimanyu hoping to God he wasn't talking about the marriage status of Raman and Ishita.
'What do you mean by that?'' asked Mihika holding her breath
Raman who had a habit of listening to others' conversations was also very attentive to know what the hell Abhimanyu was talking about
'You know like the fact the she is in love and never told me about it' said Abhimanyu
'HA! In love with whom?'' asked a very shocked Mihika
'Raman of course...'' said Abhimanyu
Mihika turned to Abhimanyu in a very excited manner and asked
'Did she tell you, how did she even tell you, she NEVER talks about this staff like that.''
'She didn't have to tell me, I could see it. I can't believe you didn't notice. It is so evident...'' Said Abhimanyu
'What are you saying Abhimanyu please be sure...'' said a very excited Mihika
'Look I have known Ishita for a long time and I can tell you with utmost certainty that Ishita Iyer is in love with her husband, oh and she knows it. This is her second chance after everything and I hope to god it works out because I don't think she has the heart for another heart break no matter how much she pretends she is strong.'' Said Abhimanyu
'Oh God I can't believe Ishita is in love...'' Said Mihika with tears in her eyes
'Yeah she is and I just hope he is worth it.'' Said Abhimanyu
'He is trust me...'' said Mihika as she rested her head on Abhimanyu shoulder
Raman stood there in disbelief not even knowing how to process this information. He didn't even know whether to believe it or not. But it came from Abhimanyu, the great Mani, then it might have been true, even Mihika seemed to have believed him, so why shouldn't he. But could it be possible.
He slowly walked from the kitchen door aimlessly until he found himself in the living room standing in front of Ishita
'Hey Raman are you okay,'' asked Ishita but he just kept on staring at her
'Why are you looking at me like that?'' she asked
