Part 4

Geet was recovering from her shock when she heard Annie screaming at the end. She continued with the conversation for a while with a beaming Annie. She fell on her bed after calming down an over enthusiastic Annie. She was back to whom she was running away all the while. Her thoughts went back to those days when she realized her love for him.

We got to see more often thereafter. He would find a chance to tease me and his smirk always made me weak in my knees. I tried to avoid the temptation of being carried away in his charms but it was inevitable. Every time I was in KM my eyes would wander for his single glimpse and his one glimpse made my day. Even though I never made it obvious but it couldn't escape from his eyes. One usual Sunday morning, I was in KM as Annie had plans for shopping. When I reached, everyone seemed to be in a hurry except Maan who was relaxing in the couch. I blushed seeing his eyes on me and went ahead to check Annie before I embarrass myself.

Before I could ask anyone Annie came running with a pair of stilettos in one hand and a clench on the other hand. She stopped near me and told, "Geetu, I am really sorry yaar. Mujhe aaj sab ke saath lunch keliye jaana tha Nick ke ghar. Abhi abhi mamma ne bola. Lekin tum chinta mat karo, mein jaldi lautoongi aur tab tak Maan bhai tumhe company dega." My heart skipped a beat hearing his name, being in a room with him around was difficult for me then how can I think of spending half a day with him alone. I told immediately, "Koi baat nahi Annie. Mein ghar jaake wapas aavoongi." Now it was dadima answered instead of Annie, "Geet bete, uski zaroorat nahi he. Maan hena yaha, aap yahi rahenge humare aane tak. Kyun Maan bete?" Maan who was silently enjoying the conversation told, "Ha dadima, Jaise aap tik samje." I cursed myself hundred times for not calling Annie before coming. Now I am stuck with him until Annie is back. My eyes went to him and saw him smirking. I immediately looked away as a blush teased my cheeks. Control Geet, Control.. I told myself n number of times. Everyone left asking Maan to keep me comfortable while I was thinking if his presence itself made me uncomfortable then how they can expect me to be...

Before my thoughts could proceed the deep baritone of his voice brought me back. He asked looking into my eyes, "Kyun Geet, mere saath akele waqt bitane se darr lagthi he?" I wanted to wipe his smirk and told, "Darr aur mujhe. Geet Handa kisise nahi darthi." He continued with an amused expression, "Great, then we can play a game of chess. I heard you are a champion. Come to my study." Before I could respond he was gone. I cursed myself for my loud mouth and went to his study cribbing. When I reached he was all set to play. I hesitantly moved to the chair opposite to him. He looked at me and told, "So Ms.Handa ready to lose?" I looked at him angered by his words and told, "Dream on Mr. Khurana." He smiled and told moving forward, "Let us see Ms. Handa." Even though I put on a brave face, only I know how I controlled my heartbeats. He made his move and waited for me to play. I composed myself and soon got immersed in the play. He was an excellent player, I must admit. Par Geet Handa har kaise maanthi. I looked at him when he took time to make his move only to see him looking at me intently. I bit my lips and looked down feeling conscious.

I didn't know that he made his move until he told, "Geet, your turn." I looked at him and his eyes made me lose focus. I made a wrong move and next it was checkmate. I looked at him annoyed that he made me lose in my favorite game. He was looking at me intently when I again looked away biting my lips. His voice made me look at him again, "Geet Handa.. Ab tho haar maan jao.." I shook my head annoyed and told, "Mein haar nahi manthi. I made a wrong move as I was paying attention.." I stopped immediately thinking what I was about to tell. I immediately got up from my seat and was about to rush outside when I was hauled into his strong chest. I was shocked with the sudden proximity of our bodies. He removed the stray hair on my face and asked looking intently at me, "What is took your attention, Geet?" I looked away biting my lips unable to answer him when I felt his finger on my lower lip. He told, "Don't do that again, Geet. I won't be responsible for my actions." I immediately looked at him shocked and saw the smirk in his face. I rushed outside unable to look into his eyes. I went to the garden and sat in the swing holding my heart which was beating so fast. I couldn't understand what it was that made me weak on my knees when he was near. Somewhere I knew the answer, I had fallen in love with him. But this was not right, I can't take advantage of my friendship with Annie. I decided to stay away from him as I knew I can't control myself around him.

I felt someone sitting near me and saw him. I could see the change of emotions in his eyes seeing me, from surprised to concern. He asked, "Geet, kya hua?" I couldn't hide the reason. I told looking away, "This is not right. I.. we shouldn't be.." He turned me to look at him. I could see his face getting annoyed. He asked, "What is wrong Geet?" I looked down not wanting to explain it. Before he could proceed we could hear the sound of car and we immediately got up. Annie was back and I thanked my stars for getting her back. He seemed quiet annoyed and shot me a look before going back to his study.

She opened her eyes looking at the ceiling. She didn't know how to face him after this many years. She didn't even know how he will react. But she knew that they have to meet. But she will make sure that she always stay away from him. The days followed passed by quickly and they were in their house in Delhi. It had so many memories that Geet and Yash had tears in their eyes. Meera had always been their support. She cheered them up whenever they were down. Geet was thankful to God for sending her to Yash bhaiyya's life. They settled down in one day and Annie and Arjun along with dadima and Shradda reached there to meet them. She was meeting them after so many years. It was an emotional moment for all. After a day full of happiness, they left asking her to come to KM soon. Before leaving dadima came and told her, "Geet bete, we missed you a lot. Now that you are back we won't let you go anywhere." She was overwhelmed by the love they showered and hugged her back not knowing the underlying thoughts in her words.
