Here's The Reason Why Sonam Kapoor Signed Prem Ratan Dhan Payo!

All set to share the screen space with Bollywood's Dabangg Khan, Salman Khan, in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo; after having done films like Raanjhanna, Khoobsurat and now Dolly Ki Doli, where she had a wider screen space, here is what Sonam Kapoor has to say about the film and will she get equal amount of screen space in this Salman Khan starrer movie?

Sonam Kapoor

In conversation with Koimoi, Sonam expressed, "The reason I decided to do Suraj Barjatya's film is because it was a romantic film and you can't make a romantic film if you do not have equal screen space. In any Suraj Barjatya's film hero and heroine have same amount of screen time. This is a film about love, family, it's not a film where a heroine has three scenes and four songs. And I know the audience always has expectations of me."

She further explains, "And it's not about screen space... if you see my film Delhi 6, I am there for twenty five minutes in the film, but you won't notice that because it was the strength of the character and the scenes and the kind of role it was. Even in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag I was barely there for ten minutes in a three hour film. So, if people remember me for those twenty five and ten minutes that's what is important. Saying that, fortunately or unfortunately for the audience I am there through and through in this film. I will not choose to do films where I am not relevant or I just have to be a pretty face. I cannot do that to myself."

Thanks for sharing the article.

Sooraj Barjatya films are known for devoting equal screen time to male and female lead, so don't understand why the question of equal space arises in the first place.

Perhaps it is because off late Salman Khan starring films tend to portray the heroine as a flower pot.

Personally, I would ask about the age gap in romance.
