Coming from a family of lawyers, Shehzad Shaikh never imagined that he would ever become an actor. Seen as Rehan in Qubool Hai, the good looking actor has managed to make his mark on the small screen. Armed with a degrees in Hotel Management and Business Administration, he was on his way to carve a career in corporate or law, when a sudden interaction with a neighbour changed his life.
"Nawab Shah, the popular actor is my neighbour and a great friend and he suggested me to try my luck in acting. This is when I realised that I actually wanted to be an actor but had not thought about pursuing it. I was working as a lead in episodics, when I got a call from 4 Lions and was selected to play Rehan on the show," shared Shehzad. He added, "The journey has been a beautiful one although I started off as a very raw actor. I have learnt so much from the show by just watching the actors of this show. I am thankful to Zee TV, 4 Lions and the overall team for considering me for this show.
There is still a very long way to go and I hope it continues to be a rocking time ahead." When we quizzed Shehzad whether he was apprehensive of being in the shadows of Karanvir Bohra in Qubool Hai, he said, "I come from a family that is not really connected to TV so I did not have an idea of how big he was. But of course it has been a treat to work with him. He and Surbhi have literally held my hand and helped me carve my character in the show. I feel humbled to have got an opportunity to share the screen with him."
Any similarities he has with his character? "Rehan is a quiet person, but I am full of energy and a happy go lucky guy. Since I also stayed away from my parents while growing up, I could relate to the emotions of my character." Talking about his future projects, Shehzad shared, "I am doing Zeenat Aman's son, Azaan's debut movie. It is a completely different project and I am excited about the same. As a lead, I will be seen doing some action-packed sequences and viewers will get to see me in a different avatar."
Talking about love, the hunky actor said, "I am a one-woman man and all my relationships have been consistent. Although I am single now and enjoying it, I am open to dating!"
When asked about doing intimate scenes on screen, Shehzad replied, "I am building up a body to do that (winks). I do not think I will have any inhibitions as it's not me who is shedding his clothes but the character is, so it's all fine with me."
Finally, talking about his new found stardom', the young gun doesn't seem to have taken it to his head. "Of course I love every bit of the appreciation and love that I am showered with, but I also enjoy my life as a normal guy. I take the public transport and roam around the streets with my friends. I am also not really active on social networking but do try to keep a tab of the viewers' opinion on me."
