@bold: thats me too. am glad u got de addicted, I am almost there. Still I have that feeling of emptiness . Watching JJ after leap is saddening.
Hi Lasya,😊
Loved your write-up and thoughts. Are you finally done with your exams?Television has come along way in the past decade. When I was a collegian there was just Doordarshan to watch. Sundays were a treat because special musical programs and mythologicals were aired. Some of the best dramas were aired those days,Humlog ,Buniyaad, Nukkad, Trishna to name a few. The quality of the plot, dialogues, acting talent were awesome. Sets, costumes and make-up were simple but the story and acting stood out. The actors were predominantly of theatre background and were brilliant in their craft.Over the years, with numerous channels vying against each other in the TRP race, somewhere the quality in story telling, dialogues, direction and acting are sadly missing. Every channel dishes out the exact same stuff in varied degrees of madness. This why we see many of them going off air within a couple of months of airing. In between this saas/bahu drama that we are normally subjected to, came Jodha Akbar, something totally different that captivated several of our attentions and hearts. The concept was fresh, initial treatment brilliant with superlative performances from the entire cast. The quality of story telling and execution declined with the introduction of Hassan and Hussein, into the plot. Then on, the once beautiful historical started resembling one of EK's regular soaps. The Jodha blame game followed by the ghastly depiction of the Chittor war saw the ultimate decline of an awesome serial. For a person like me who was never interested in watching any regular shows excepting historicals and mythological stories, Jodha Akbar was a welcome change. I was totally and completely addicted and it took me several weeks to de-addict myself.😳. Believe me it was not easy at all. 😔Both Paridhi and Rajat did utmost justice to their roles and made us believe that we are really seeing Jodha and Akbar. I had seen Rajat act brilliantly as a teenager in Prithviraj Chauhan and Dharam Veer before. I knew that he would come up with yet another superb performance as Akbar. It was Paridhi as Jodha who took me completely by surprise. She has played the part of a fiery, headstrong, fearless, beautiful hindu Rajvanshi princess to perfection. Pari/Rajat are a gorgeous pair, and have won the hearts of millions all over the world.Even though I have lost continuity in watching the serial, I do catch up on watching certain scenes involving Jodha/ Akbar from time to time. No other TV couple has caught my attention like these two. I am disappointed with the leap, but wish the new actors good luck and success.Nobody can replace Pari and Rajat's place in the story or gain the kind of popularity and love that they have from the audiences. Taking a leap is the biggest blunder that EK has committed, and the TRP's are proving it.
You know , even today we watch the program RANGOLI every Sunday morning in DD...I sometimes even watch the programs like Good evening India and Earth Matters...In DD we got to watch some amazing programs...like the other day I got to watch the concert of Vienna live on the NEW YEAR day.
As I told you that I had no cable connection till my 9th standard...I was very well accquainted with all the shows in DD...like OM NAMAHA SHIVAYA was my favourite mythology in my childhood
@ bold
But as you said DD is still maintaining some of its Q programs ... not soaps 😆
As far as JA is concerned, I developed a deep connect with it...and sadly it also effected me a lot !ðŸ˜

If you still like watching DD, then for you there is an info.
From today onwards, a new series is starting on DD > 9:00 PM every sunday and saturday..
It focuses on some inspirational stories about women (it is different from normal tv shows. it is not about gender enforcement or about gender equality..)
It is supposed to be a documentary, new documentary in every episode, which focuses on some deep routed stereotypes in our society.
Was reading this in newspaper today. It is a initiative by the DD to bring to the fore some inspirational stories. :)
