loved the man-to-man talk between Maan and Sid in the end, and the way a different shade of human nature was shown in the form of Sid's feelings, a bit selfish, but the better part was he could control it and the thoughts evaporated after seeing Geet's happiness with Maan.

Part 39
Geet and Meera had reached the penthouse and were settled on the sofa when finally Maan and Sid came in. They looked as if they had just had some serious conversation. Whatever it was had changed the equation between the two guys. They were both much closer.
Nobody else would have noticed but Geet knew both the men too closely to even notice such subtle change between them. Maan smiled and asked Geet for a glass of water which she went to bring into the kitchen while Sid went into the room to use the washroom. Meera took this opportunity to have some talk with Maan.
Meera:" Maan, I am sure Sid just had a talk with you. I am not going to repeat any of his warning. You know it is from both of us. I just want to thank you."
Maan smiled. Meera looked cute even when she was trying to be mean. She was exactly as he had heard the description of. "Why do you want to thank me Meera?"
Meera:" For taking such a good care of Geet. You had made the impossible possible. Geet is no longer just surviving. She is living now. She is better than she had been in last four years."
Maan:" Well I might have had some selfish need to see Geet happy behind whatever I did."
Meera:"You are still the most selfless person I have met."
Maan:" Don't make a habit of judging people so quickly Meera. You might make wrong assumptions."
Meera:" I would take my chances. After all long ago an idiot had told me that I should never ever let go of my real self just because the world is a cruel place to be."
Maan:" yeah. May I know who said it to you?"
Meera:" Armaan. He was I don't know always so matured for his age. I miss him too you know Maan. He used to be like an elder brother to me always helping me out and advising me about stuffs."
Maan sighed. He realized that though the others had not been as adversely affected by Armaan's untimely death as Geet was, they were all still grieving over their loss.
Maan:" I don't know what to say Meera. I mean nothing I say or do can make Armaan come back. I can't turn back the clock. If I had that kind of power I would have brought Armaan back for Geet long ago. Watching her almost die for Armaan is painful. But all I can say is if you want you can always think me as an elder brother. I personally would be glad to have you as a sister and provide my advise if you ever need one."
Meera watched Maan. She could understand how Geet could fall for him. He was just too good a person.
Meera:" Can I call you Maan bhai then?"
Maan:" Whatever you feel comfortable."
Meera:" You can call me Meer. Only my close ones are allowed to call me Meer."
Maan:" I am glad you allowed me that prieviledge Meer."
Soon both Geet and Sid returned and were surprised when they heard Meera address Maan as bhai. It was endearing. Geet teared up a bit thinking how easily Maan is filling up the void that Armaan's passing away had left.
Everyone was enjoying the conversation and once again everything was back to the usual lighter issues. But it was getting late for Maan so reluctantly Meera and Sidhdharth bid him goodbye. When they had thought of meeting Maan all they wanted was to check for their own selves that Maan deserved Geet. But they found parts of their own heart heal. They would always miss Armaan but Maan provided them solace for something they didn't know they were missing.
After bidding goodbye to Maan, Sid and Meer left providing the young couple with much needed privacy. Maan went near Geet. She was standing by the wall. Maan placed one of his hand just beside her head not really touching her yet being as close to her as possible without really having a physical contact.
Taking his lips almost near her ears he whispered, "So, what do you think Miss Song?"
Geet shivered at his proximity. He said he won't force her for any kind of physical relation. Doesn't mean he would stop putting her in situations where it will be difficult for her to control. Taking a deep breath Geet looked at his eyes. His eyes were so deep, almost deep like ocean. It is so easy to get lost in him.
Shaking her head Geet replied back," What... What do you mean Maan?"
Maan:" Geet, did you think tonight was good enough? Did I do well enough?"
Geet:"You were awesome Maan. And what you said to Meera was just so sweet of you."
Maan:" You were there?"
Geet:" At the very end when you said you would be happy to be an elder brother to her."
Maan: "She is a truly sweet person."
Geet smiled. Maan and she had been in a relationship only for a little more than a week yet she felt like she had known him forever. Maan took a deep breath and pecked her on her cheek. "Goodnight my sweet Geet. I will miss you for another two days but then you will be all mine."
Geet was feeling zittery with his peck on her cheek. His lips were so smooth and soft; they were almost feather light like she will miss it if she wasn't paying attention. Geet smiled and said, "I will be always yours only Maan."
Maan smiled at her blatant confession. This girl would truly be the death of him. She tells him such things and expects him to be controlling himself.
Geet smiled sweetly and said, "Maan good night. Now get going. I know you will have some series of things to attend to tomorrow so you need to rest."
Maan smiled. He knew she was right plus if he stayed any longer he won't be able to resist kissing her and that was definitely not a good idea. Maan was at the door when suddenly Geet stopped him. He raised his eye brows asking her with his eyes what the matter is. Geet raised herself on her toes and kissed him on his cheek. Maan wasn't expecting this gesture from Geet and stared at her completely gobsmacked.
Geet laughed a little watching his expression and said," For being a sweetheart."
Geet closed the door and Maan smiled a bit before leaving for his home.
The next day they had fun roaming round at marine drive and having pav bhajis at chaupati. They even tried the kababs from bade miya. It was in short a nice end to their short trip. Next day both Meera and Sid are leaving for their respective cities via morning flight so that they can rest well before they can start office again. It was a bittersweet goodbye after their stay.
Though a short stay many things had changed. Meera finally got her one meeting with Pari clearing the air in between. Meera had her final closure. They got to meet Maan and even had a new relationship with Maan. Geet was now ready to completely embrace this new life with Maan, especially after Meer and Sid accepted Maan.
*******
Pari had been staying aloof after her encounter with Meera. Naina tried hard to make her talk but it was like suddenly the weight of the sky was on Pari's shoulder. Yes, talking to Meera had helped but then it had also reminded her of a past she had buried deep within. Her past wasn't happy one. Rahul, her ex, was a total jerk and Pari regret every moment of her life spent with him.
Yet Rahul had taught Pari a valuable lesson in life. Not every guy with right words in mouth and red roses and everything would turn into a prince. Yash may have broken Meera's heart but Yash also had stitched hers back.
It was Tuesday so one more day for Geet to return. Pari had grown to like Geet a lot more. At the beginning it was just aqquaintance but now they are friends. Even Geet has changed. She is a lot better than what she used to be when they had first stepped in Mumbai.
Her mind was going round and round about different thoughts both negative and positive when Yash called up. Pari let it ring without picking up. She did not feel like talking. Maybe in her heart she knew talking with Yash would help her and she wanted to feel the burden of her woes a bit more.
Pari was masochisitic that way... She liked this pain that the past memories brought on. Maybe Pari thought that way she could refrain from repeating past mistakes...
Yash called up again. This time she knew she had to pick up or Yash would tense up. Pari did not like worrying Yash for any reason.
Picking up the call Pari spoke.
Pari:" Hey Baby!"
Yash:" Are you fine? "
Pari:" Hmm."
Yash:" Pari, tell me. You know I hate it when you close off."
Pari:" There is nothing to tell."
Yash:" Tell me about Meera."
Pari smiled. She knew what Yash was doing. He was making her talk so that she would spill what was actually bothering her. Even knowing his antics Pari still gave in. Something about the way he says things makes her spill everytime. Taking the headphones she connected it with her cell phone knowing that the conversation will be long one.
Pari:" She is adorable you know. Meera is everything you and Geet described her to be. She is a sweet heart. I mean knowing her, I feel, how did you ever leave her?"
Yash laughed out.
Yash:" You know what is best part about you?"
Pari:" What?"
Yash:" You are so clueless about your own worth. Meera is an amazing person Pari and I guess a part of me will always be guilty for breaking her heart. But we couldn't have worked. With her, I was never myself and even she was not herself with me. She was always nice to me. Can you believe, we never ever fought! The truth is Meera and I were that couple you find in stories and tv series, the made for each other types. We would never have worked in real world."
Pari:" True. I think now she too feels the same thing."
Yash:"so if you are not insecured about Meera, what is it that is bothering you?"
Pari: "I was not insecured with her. She helped me out and I helped her out. We are not friends since you are still there, her past and my present. But one day when your presence won't make any of us insecure maybe we can be friends."
Yash:" Great. So my angel, what was bothering you? "
Pari:" I kind of told her a bit about Rahul."
Yash:" So thanks to that world class jerk you are sad."
Pari:" Precisely."
Yash:" Pari, you are a matured person. So I won't tell you to forget because we both know that doesn't work. I won't even tell you to stop getting bothered with the memories of the past since that doesn't help either."
Pari smiled with the way Yash spoke about options that doesn't help. Finally she asked out loud," So what does help Yash?"
Yash:" Don't you get it? I can feel you are smiling. So whatever is the medicine is already working."
Pari:" And what exactly is the medicine?"
Yash:" Sharing Pari. I know when those things actually happened I wasn't there to help but I am here now. I want to help you by sharing your pain. Long ago when I was mourning the passing away of a dear friend a wise girl told me sharing lessens the intensity of the pain. I am just returning her own words back at her."
Pari smiled. When they had started dating Yash was truly in a bad shape. He had lost Armaan and the other three were not talking with him. He had actually lost all his best friends at one go.
Pari:" Yash, you truly are an awesome boyfriend. Maybe all I needed was little pep talk from you."
Yash:" Glad I could help out dear. You know right, you can talk about anything with me."
Pari:" Yes. Thank you for always being there for me."
Yash:" Ditto. Want me to give you some great news?"
Pari:" I am all ears."
Yash:"I finally talked about us with my family. Next month I am coming to Mumbai and I will be introducing you with them."
Pari:" That's ...that's great. "
Yash:" Are you nervous?"
Pari:"yeah, kind of. What if they don't like me? What if they make you break up with me?"
Yash:" You are watching too many daily soaps aren't you?"
Pari:" Yash!! ""
Yash:" Don't worry. My family is nothing like the ones shown in daily soaps and they already love you. So chill !!!"
Pari smiled. They talked some more before they bid goodbye. Pari smiled lying on her bed. Yash and her future were set. They would marry in future. They are both working in a good company and they have at least begun their professional careers. The ghost of her past cannot bother her again yet she wouldn't have become the person she was today if not for her past experiences.
