In the first two seasons, when Sonu nigam was the judge he always emphasized on singing. He judged contestants based on who would be a better playback singer, but this year looks like the criteria has shifted. The tagline for show says " Woh awaz jo bharat ki shaan kehla sake." So are we still looking for the voice of a playback singer or someone who can sing and perform?

very true, the focus of the show contradicts the tagline "Woh awaz jo bharat ki shaan kehla sake", because they are not looking only for an awaz but also a good-looking person with good stage performance skills. i personally prefer people who can just sing and don't nessecarily need to perform, which is why i kind of prefer SRGMP over this show.

well actually we r looking 4 a complete package..a person with a gr8 voice, perfect surs n all tht n a performer(x-factor) n personality..this is because they'll have 2 perform a lot on the stage after ii but if they just stand n sing it'll be very boring..thts y they r giving performance more impo this time..

I don't think II has made it clear ever. They are always confusing. Whatever it is I feel we are looking for contestants who sing within sur and also perform well. A combination and not to forget a charming personality. The winner won't get overnight fame as a playback singer and now that we have tons of talent shows I don't see these youngsters having any bright future as playback singers. I think the winners will be best known for their albums and stage shows. But to shine in them they need to first sing in sur. I am sure of one thing that we are not searching for off-key performers.

I think II has always been looking for a completele package...one who can hold the attention of the audience through his performance and singing. Most of these guys make their money from Stage shows more than playback singing...playback has too much competition.

i agree completely... nobody from the talent hunts made really big in playback.... shreya, sunidhi, kunal's case was different...during their time there wasnt any 'public voting'... they were judged by legends in the field of music..like anil biswas, pt.jasraj, lata mangeshkar etc... and now there are tooo many shows like these... and out of so many shows few singers get offers
