CHAPTER NINE

'Have you ever made her cry? Because if you have this room is going to be too small for us'' said Saanvi folding her hand into a fist and showing it to Raman

'Uuuhhh I do...'' and before he could answer that he heard someone ask

'Do you love her?'' asked Ayaan

There was a sudden silence in the room and one could hear a pin drop. All the kids kept on staring at Raman attentively waiting for him to give them an answer.

Ishita could see Raman was getting uncomfortable and needed her help so he slightly cleared her throat as if to tell everyone she was in the room

'Will I get a hug or are you all going to spend the day interrogating my husband?''

And before Raman knew it all the kids ran to Ishita hugging her and telling her how much they had missed her. She looked up at Raman and mouthed

'I am so sorry.'' Pointing at the kids who were all holding her in one big hug.

Raman looked at her and signaled that it was okay. He understood how much she meant to them and to be honest he found the whole ordeal adorable. He watched as they all warmly hugged her and they all kept on talking at the same time while Ishita tried her best to keep up with everything they were saying.

He turned to leave the room when he saw Ruhi take a book out of her bag and handing to over to Ayaan. Ayaan looked at the book and back at Ruhi with tears in his eyes and kept on saying thank you. Ruhi then wiped his tears and hugged him. He watched his daughter his heart bursting of pride as it was the sweetest and most powerful moment he had seen.

'Hey Raman long time how have you been'' said Jai who had just walked into the room

'Oh hey I am doing alright thank you. How have you been'' said Raman as he turned around to extending his hand to Jai

' I have been alright. So has my sister started driving you crazy?'' said Jai as he looked at Ishita

'Not cool Jai. Seriously you like making fun of me'' Said Ishita

'Yeah because it is so funny teasing you'' Jai replied mimicking her as he went forward to give her a hug

Raman watched and it is in that moment that he realized how amazing the bond she had with her family was and also how strong it was. They stayed talking for a while until they were called into the living for some snacks.

They had been staying in Mumbai for a few weeks and one would tell the difference. Ruhi was easily interacting with everyone and having fun. There was a tradition in the Iyer family that during the summer there would be getting together that would go on into the night and for them it was a way to be thankful to and for each other for everything they had got and survived. Plus to top it all up this was going to be a special one because it is where the surprise was finally going to be revealed.

All the neighboring families and also the people who were involved with the orphanage were invited. It was a fun event that was loved by most and this one was no less. There was a lot of food, music and dance. Ruhi had spent the whole week talking about it with her friends and could not wait for the whole thing to just begin.

Raman watched as his excited daughter was getting ready to head out to the place where the whole event was going to be held and could not believe how two weeks in Mumbai had made such a vest difference. Even his mother seemed to be having fun something he did not think was ever going to happen.

'Papa, Papa I have been calling you. Where is your attention?'' asked Ruhi

'Haan Sorry. What is it?'' asked Raman

'I want to go with Jai. Is that okay?'' she asked

'Why? You said you wanted to go with Papa only. Now you say you do not want. What happened? Asked Raman

'Nahi Nothing it was just a thought.'' Said Ruhi as she seemed disappointed

Raman did not understand why there was a sudden change of attitude all of a sudden so he looked at Ishita who smilingly mouthed

'Ayaan... '

'Ohhh ' he mouthed back

He then turned to his daughter and said

'Okay you can go with Jai I will go with Ishima and Mihika. We shall have loads of fun.''

'Are you sure papa'' Ruhi said excited

'yeah sure why not. Go spend time with jai.'' He replied

'Oh thank you so much papa. Let me go and tell Aya... I mean Jai that you said yes.'' She said running out

'Ruhi...'' Raman called out to which Ruhi turned

'Tell Ayaan as well'' said Raman teasingly

'Uuffooo Papa...'' she said as she ran out of the room

'Oh hey baby watch your step'' said Mihika as she walked into the room 'Okay then, are you love birds done. We need to leave.''

There was an awkward silence for a while until Ishita answered

'Uhhh yeah I am almost done let me just pick my phone.'' Said Ishita

'Oh God you two are too easily. Teasing you two has become my favorite hobby'' Mihika said laughing

'Raman do you have everything you need?'' she added

'Yeah am all set.'' Replied Raman

'Okay then start the car Ishu and I will be right out'' said Mihika

Raman grabbed the keys and went out of the room leaving Mihika behind who was waiting for Ishita

'Ishu relax he will wait. I wanted to talk to you.'' Said Mihika

'Is everything okay? What is it?'' replied Ishita

'Oh God Ishu why is it that the first question from you is always is everything okay? Why do you think things are not okay?'' said Mihika

'Okay I am sorry. Now tell me what you wanted to talk about.'' Replied Ishita

'Are you going dressed like that?'' asked Mihika pointing at Ishita's clothes

'What is wrong with the way am dressed?'' asked Ishita looking at herself in the mirror

'Okay I know your married and all but come one really. No wonder he doesn't take you anywhere. You have to at least try and impress him'' Replied Mihika

'What is that supposed to mean?'' asked Ishita still looking at herself in the mirror

'Why do you put on these stupid bulky clothes?'' said Mihika as she carelessly touched Ishita's clothes

'What is wrong with what am wearing? Besides sometimes I do put on form fitting clothes.'' She replied

'Yeah when does that happen in the comfort of your bedroom'' asked Mihika.

She looked at her sister's expression and could not believe it

'Oh My God, only in your room are you serious? So every time you guys go out your dressed in these bulky ugly things?'' asked Mihika

'I really do not get why you think my clothes are bad. They are very comfortable'' said Ishita innocently

'These are not clothes but drapes. Seriously and they are the ugly kind of drapes'' replied Mihika as Ishita looked at her expressions finding the whole situation a bit funny

'Oh my God fine. What do you propose I wear?'' she asked

'Come to my room. I will find you something to wear.'' And with that they left for Mihika's room

Mihika did always care about what she wore more than Ishita. To Ishita clothes were just to cover the body and that's it. Mihika was going to do everything in her power to make sure her sister looked killer today.

Mihika sat Ishita down and started applying very light make up just so her face did not have to be so dull. She pulled Ishita's hair down and released it from the pony tail style that she was always having. She then put a pin such that it flowed to the left side of her shoulder. Then finally Mihika got this simple but Gorgeous Dark Purple Silk Embroidery Anarkali Frock and these cute light grey pumps which Ishita had to wear. She looked divine and she was going to make heads turn especially her husband's.

Raman was patiently waiting in the car wondering why they were taking so long to come out. He got out of the car to go inside and find out why they were taking long when he saw Mihika coming out of the house

Mihika seriously what took so long?'' he asked

'Sorry Yaar Ishita was having a wardrobe malfunction so I had to take care of that. ' replied Mihika

'Where is she anyway?'' asked Raman

'Oh here she comes'' answered Mihika as she looked to Raman to see his reaction

Raman turned around and did not recognize the woman coming out if the house. It was like he left a different woman upstairs and a different one came out. She looked absolutely amazing. He could not figure out if what he was seeing was real or a figment of his imagination.

He walked over to her and he could see that she had started to fidget which just made the whole scene unbelievably adorable. He then moved his hand and pulled out the pin that was holding her hair to the side releasing to freely fall backwards.

'You do not need to feel uncomfortable, you like amazing.'' He said to her as he offered his hand and led her to the car.

They go into the car and for a while Mihika was watching as the married couple kept on stealing glances at each other and found the whole scene quite adorable actually.

'You know there is more than one girl in the car Jiju.'' She said teasingly

'Huh ... I mean you look good too Mihika like always.'' He said

'Yeah right! I do not even think you noticed what color I am wearing.'' She added laughing

'Mihika stop it now.'' Said Ishita

'Ohh ho Fine I won't tease your hubby anymore.'' Said Mihika teasingly

'Mihika please ...'' said a blushing Ishita

Raman watched as her cheeks turned crimson red and couldn't help but chuckle under his breath because he was now finally admitting to himself he actually found his wife beautiful.

They drove for a few more minutes and finally reached their destination. There were a lot of people who had come in attendance this year and also some children who had been adopted from the orphanage that year had been brought by their adoptive parents to enjoy this fanfare.

'Oh finally you came. I have been waiting for you'' said Jai

'Okay slow down attention seeker at least let her come out of the car.'' Replied Mihika

'Shut up...'' said Jai as Mihika walked away to go greet her friends

'You tow always bicker. Don't you get tired.'' Said Ishita who was laughing

'Well then life would just be boring.'' Replied Jai

'Oh my God Raman I have to say, you are the only man who can make my sister dress up like this. Not that she looks bad any way.'' Said Jai teasingly

'Am not sure I know how to answer that.'' Said a smiling Raman

'Well trust me when I tell you. She never dressed up like that for anyone not even ...'' but before he could finish Ishita interrupted

'Jai you wanted to tell me something. What was it?''

'Not even who?'' asked Raman as he really wanted to know

'Oh changing the topic I see. Okay fine, I pledge allegiance to my sister and won't say a word.'' Said Jai

Raman pretended like it didn't affect him but he was feeling unbelievably jealous at the thought of her being with another man even though he knew he probably had no right to do so. Jai watched Raman's reaction as he walked away and just chuckled and wondered how his sister could be so clueless at what is happening right in front of her.

'Anyway I wanted to introduce you to my girl who should be around here somewhere. Wait I am going to go find her do not disappear before you meet her.'' He said as he walked away

'I won't.'' replied Ishita

Before Ishita could walk away to catch up with Raman who had walked a small distance she heard Jai saying

'Oh by the way heads up, Tushar is here.''

'Why the hell is he here?'' she asked but Jai just shrugged his shoulders as if to say he didn't know. She tried to walk away when she heard a voice from behind say

'Oh hey Ishita haven't seen you in a while where have you been hiding?'' asked Tushar

'What do you want Tushar?'' she asked getting irritated

'Do not be mad sweetie come one. This doesn't suit you.'' He replied

'Whatever, I am choosing to ignore you.'' She added as she tried to walk away from him

'Oh chill out my love. There was a time when you couldn't get enough of me.'' He said as he walked in front of her blocking her way.

'Yeah back when I was stupid. Now get out my way.'' She said as she tried to walk away

' You have become feisty I see. And also look unbelievably sexy today looks like me leaving you did you some good.'' He said blocking her way again

Ishita just looked at him and tried to just walk way because she really just wanted to ignore him

'You even have this glow about you. I wonder what the reason is' He said as he tried to touch her

At this point Raman had turned around and was watching the whole scene happen not sure how to take it. When he saw the man block Ishita's way and Ishita getting irritated he knew something was amiss. When he saw this man touch his wife he just wanted to smack him to the bone for being so disrespectful but he knew better than to behave in that manner in such a place.

'Is everything okay Ishita.'' He asked as he walked over to where they were standing

'Wait Aren't you Raman Kumar Bhalla?'' asked a shocked Tushar

'Am fine Raman. Let's just go away from here.'' Replied Ishita

'Wait Ishita how do you know him. Dude is loaded. Let me say hey at least.'' Said Tushar as he turned to face Raman

'Hey there my name is Tushar CEO of Khan advertising agency one of the best in Indian might I add. It is an honor to meet you sir.'' He added braggingly as he stretched out his hand to Raman

Raman looked at him and back at Ishita asking

'Ishita is everything okay.''

' Yeah everything is fine.'' Ishita replied as she turned to Tushar and said

'Please let me do the honors. Meet Raman Kumar Bhalla owner of one of the biggest group of companies in the world might I add, RBK Group of companies''

'Oh Ishita I know who this is. Everyone does but how do you know him. Is he doing some charity work for you'' He added

'No not really he is .'' She said but got interrupted by Tushar

''You know everything he touches is gold. He is an amazing business man. I just aspire to be like him one day seriously. Bet he is donating big here after all why else would he know you?''

Raman at this point was getting irritated and just wanted to punch the living shit out of this ill-mannered man. But before he could come forward to do anything he felt Ishita slid her hand in his. He looked down just to make sure that she had actually done that when he heard her say

'Oh by the way I forgot to mention. He is also my husband. Now I go by the name Mrs. Ishita Kumar Bhalla.''

Raman looked at Ishita and knew she was going to handle it. He knew his wife was a lot of things but a push over was not one of them. He slid his free hand in his pocket and watched as the jaw of the idiot standing in front of him almost fell flat on his ground.

'Wait a minute. You're married? I cannot believe your married and that too to Raman Kumar Bhalla.'' Said Tushar who was visibly surprised

'Well yeah I am married oh and happily might I add.'' She said

'I can't believe it.'' He said still looking at Ishita and then back at Raman who at this point was just standing there with a sexy smirk on his face

'Oh and by the way to answer your question, when a woman is married to a man who oozes sexiness with everything that he does, she just can't help but glow. And all you are ever going to do is just aspire to be him because you will never be half the man that he is '' She said

' what...'' but before Tushar would answer she said

'Come on Baby let's go get a drink.'' And with that they left hand in hand as Tushar looked not believing what the hell just happened. He wondered how in the world was that even possible that Ishita would be married to someone else.

Raman watched Ishita hold his hand and walk away with so much confidence and he couldn't help but be proud. He also couldn't believe that she had actually without any hesitation called him sexy and complimented him in that way. What he couldn't fathom was it because she believed it or was it because of the crazy idiot.

'Did you actually mean it or were you just saying it.'' He asked

'Mean what?'' she asked back pretending she didn't know what he was talking about

'Do you really think I am sexy or were you just pretending.'' He said with a smirk on his face

Ishita looked at him and just smiled back not answering him

'Come on tell me. Did you really mean what you said? Do you actually believe it?'' he asked

'I was just stating a fact that's all and it would be idiotic of me not to believe in facts don't you think?'' She answered as she winked at him

But before he could answer they made an announcement that everyone was to meet to get inside as the function was about to start. He looked at her and chuckled saying to her

'What does Mumbai do to you that you seem to have changed so much?'' he asked smilingly

'Nothing really I just wanted to make an ex realize someone else found me worthy enough to marry me. Whatever the reason might have been '' She said

They looked into each other's eyes and for minute seemed to be lost in their own world when they heard the announcer calling everyone to get inside.

Ishita was the first to look away realizing where they were and she tried to let go of his hand when she heard him say

'Hey who told you to let go.'' He asked as he took he hand in his again and they walked into the hall where the get together function was about to start.
