PART 38

Meera and Sid were enjoying Mumbai but mostly they were enjoying the fact that Geet was happy. There was certain radiance in Geet. She was glowing no longer a mere shadow of her own self. They visited most of the place in Mumbai from Sidhdhi Vinayaka Temple to Sanjay Gandhi National park. It was finally Monday evening and both of them were excited.

Maan Singh Khurana was supposed to come and meet them. Previously they had heard the name of the senior Khurana, the man solely responsible for the prosperity of Khurana Enterprise. He was an icon so it seemed unreal that a man of that status will be dating their friend.

Geet was wearing a casual sweat shirt and jeans and had her hair tied in a pony tail. Meera felt her dress a little too casual.

Meera:" So, Geet won't you change?"

Geet:" I changed my pyazamas didn't I?"

Meera:" Maan is coming na. You should dress up a bit."

Geet:" Nah this is fine. And anyway we will be dining here only so what's the point of dressing up."

Meera did not say another word. Sid was busy with his ipod and Geet was doing something with her laptop. Meera resigned back on the sofa of the living room and got hold of one of the story book to pass time. Soon they heard the calling bell and Geet was up on her feet sprinting towards the door. Meera gave Sid a push so he could get rid of the ipod.

As Geet opened the door there came in the Maan Singh Khurana. He was much more regal from up close. Meera observed the duo as if she was searching for something. Maybe she wanted to make sure that her friend is not being played with. Even after meeting with Dev and Naina a part of her wanted to make sure that Maan is the right choice for Geet.

Maan was looking at Geet and Geet to, was looking at Maan. They were'nt talking or even touching but it was like they were speaking through their eyes. That moment was for only Maan and Geet and no third person had any say. It was theirs moment. And witnessing this Meera realized that maybe it was a really great idea for this two to be together. Maybe they were really meant to be's.

Sid was pretending to listen to the ipod. It was tough for him to cope with the fact that Geet was dating someone else. He had known Armaan from grade three and they had practically grown up together. Armaan was the brother he never had, his best friend and the only person he had told his feelings for Meera about while Meera and Yash had still been dating.

Armaan was such an integral part of him that Sid had never considered that one day he would have to exist without Armaan. It was so beautiful between Armaan and Geet that now waiting to meet another person as Geet's potential lover was downright painful.

Sid knew he was being selfish. He had Meera so he cannot hope that Geet would still be mourning for Armaan. Yet some part of Sid revolted against the idea of Geet dating because then they would bid good bye to everything representing Armaan. Geet moving on meant Armaan was truly just a memory now and they let him go in every sense of that word.

Sid was really at war at himself. The part of him who was Geet's friend was overjoyed with the fact that Geet is trying to move on. But the part of him that was Armaan's friend was unhappy.

Meera and Geet had some small talk regarding Geet dressing up for Maan. He was thankful that Geet did not dress up because he did not think he could have stomached that. Geet was busy with her laptop and Meera was glancing through some book when the calling bell rang.

Geet went ahead to open the door and Sid struggled to bring on a neutral expression on his face. He reminded himself that whatever it was Maan Singh Khurana is not to be blamed. In fact it was due to Maan that their friend was leading a remotely normal life. Maan does not deserve burns of his internal wars.

Geet and Maan were staring at each other and it was as if they were speaking through their eyes. Nothing passionate, nothing remotely intimate yet Sid had never encountered any moment more intimate than that. He watched Maan watching Geet. Sid could read through and it was a look he knew well. Sid looked at Meera with that look. And he daresay, Armaan used to look at Geet with that look.

Sid knew it was time to truly let go of Armaan because Armaan was long gone. And if anybody deserved Geet other than Armaan it had to be the man standing at the doorway. Because that man can love Geet the way Armaan would, the way she deserved to be loved.

Sid approved Maan without even talking to him because maybe Maan and Geet were truly made for each other.

Maan had missed Geet a lot during these few das. Granted they had just confessed and started their new relation but still he missed her a lot. As soon as she opened the door to his pent house he watched her. She was just wearing a simple sweat shirt and jeans and her hairs were pulled together in a ponytail but still she was the most beautiful person Maan had ever seen.

Geet was also looking at him as if memorizing his features. Maan cocked his eyebrows and Geet blushed in a beautiful shade of red. A blushing Geet always made Maan happy. To know that he had that much power over Geet, that Geet had allowed him that much in her heart. Right that moment all Maan wanted was to pull Geet into a tight hug and kiss her senseless showing her exactly how much he had missed her. Geet maybe could read through his desirous wishes and looked down blushing some more if that was possible.

Maan presented Geet with the bouquet of red roses he brought for her and whispered softly," As much as I want to be alone and have my way with you Geet I think your friends are waiting."

Geet smiled and let him in as he side hugged her and said in an almost whisper," Don't worry Miss Song. I know you are still not ready for that kind of advances from me and I am willing to wait for as long as it takes."

Maan entered the room to observe the two persons he had heard so much about. For some reason Maan wanted to prove these two that he is worthy of their friend. After all in a true sense Sid and Meera had been true family to Geet, even more than Tej. But another smaller part of him knew that they were not only friends of Geet but friends of Armaan as well so having their approval seemed or the more important.

Geet turned to Sid and Meera and made their initial introductions.

Geet:" Maan, this is Meera and this is Sidhdharth you have heard so much about from me and guys this is the Maan Singh Khurana, I am sure you have seen at least once in T.V."

Maan:" Miss Song you can never resist pulling my leg can you? You could have left the last part out."

Geet smiled and said, "I will never let it go Mr. Khurana. You would have to deal with it."

Maan:" Hello everyone. I have heard so much about all of you from Geet. "

Sid:" Hello Mr. Khurana. We also have had our fair share about you from Miss Bakbak here."

Meera:" Yes Mr. Khurana. It's finally great to meet you."

Maan: "Please call me Maan. Mr. Khurana is way bigger name."

And they all fell into light chitchat. Maan was a pleasant talker and they all soon found common interests. After what seemed like an hour Geet finally asked,

Geet:"Maan you are coming directly from your office. You must be hungry. So where are we having our dinner?"

Maan: "Whatever places you guys are fine with. I don't mind anything."

Geet:"So if we decide on something Indian what will prince Khurana do?"

Maan:" Oh I will happily take you. I think we can go to Delhi Darbar then. It's a nice place."

Geet had just said that to pull Maan's leg. But watching him agree to her plan so readily, she felt bad.

Geet:" Maan, I just was kidding. We can go for Itallian restrauant."

Meera:" Yes Maan, please don't feel pressured by us."

Maan:" Meera, tell me truthfully something. Which cusine do you personally prefer?"

Meera:" Indian."

Maan:" And you Sid?"

Sid:" Though I can eat any kind of thing when it comes to food but I do prefer Indian."

Maan:" I already know that Geet likes Indian the most. So when three of you love a particular cusine why should we go for something else just for me? I have itallian almost everyday so t won't kill me to have Indian once in a while. In fact on the contrary it will be a nice change."

Everybody agreed to hhis reasoning. After all Maan wasn't the best businessman for namesake. He is used to winning arguments. While everybody went to their respective rooms to get ready Maan made a call to the restrurant to book a table for them.

They all went to the restraurant with Maan in his car. They all ordered the food and Geet helped Maan out by choosing some non-spicy cusines for him. They talked a bit about different things and then suddenly Meera popped up the most awaited topic.

Meera:" So Geet, how did Maan exactly propose you?"

Geet coughed out and looked at Meera who winked at her naughtily.

Maan:" Actually Meera, I never did propose her."

Meera:" Ah Mr. Khurana, did you think I will go easy on you? You are dating my bestie and you didn't even propose!! That's outrageous."

Maan:" Really Meera?"

Sid:" All the best with the drama queen of the group Maan. I get that everyday."

Meera:" Mr. Sidhdharth, you are trading very thin ice mr... I would be cautious if I were you."

Sid:" okkkay, am not talking. "

Maan looked at Geet and remembered everything that had been their story. He said, "Meera, I and Geet... we didn't have an ordinary story of girl meeting boy and falling in love. As much as I wanted my love life to be aome fairytale life is no fairy tale. When I first met Geet she was still a shadow of her true self mourning for Armaan and trying to just survive. I didn't even realize I was in love with her. All Ii wanted was her to be happy. Then suddenly one day this little Miss Song read the emotions in my eyes and figured that I love her. We had few encounters, few heart to heart talks and then she made me the luckiest person by confessing that she too had some feelings for me. Now tell me Meera, where would I fit a proposal in this story?"

Every body had got little teary hearing Maan recounting their love story. Geet said," I think I am the lucky one Maan. You are my guardian angel sent just to help me out and move forward in life."

The little table of four was thick with emotion as Maan lovingly gazed into Geet's eyes. Meera wanted everyone to lighten up and spoke out," But I still want that proposal. It would be shame if we let go the most eligible bachelor of the country without the proposal."

Maan smiled." Meera, how about we make a compromise?"

Meera:" What kind of compromise?"

Maan:" Since I and Geet are already in relationship so let's not change anything. But I promise to make the most spellbounding proposal when I ask her for marriage."

Meera:" I will hold you onto that promise Mr. Khurana and you will regret if you break that."

Maan:" It's a good thing then that I don't break my promises."

Soon their dinner was over and Maan paid. All of them wanted to pipe in but Maan once again won the argument and then they were soon on their way back to the hotel. While the girls were buus chattering Sid pulled Maan aside and said," I know I might sound rude but I would make you regret if you ever let Geet down. You have no idea how much of a risk Geet took to get into this new relationship and I don't want her to ever regret her decision of moving on."

Maan:" Sidhdharth, I understand. I have heard a lot about the famous five from Geet. I have held her countless times when she had cried for Armaan. I know how much Geet is risking. I can't promise that Geet won't ever be sad. This is life. Every relationship has its own ups and downand we would also have our fair share of storms. But I can promise you this much that in the long run she will never regret this relation."

Sid:" I am glad we could have this little man to man talk. I have always treated Geet as little sister and have wanted the best for her.You are a good person Maan. I hope you will be good for her too."

Maan:" I understand Sidhdharth and I appreciate your efforts. Geet is a lucky person to have such a caring family."

Sid:" Family?"

Maan:" Of course family. You and Meera will always be family to Geet in every sense of the word. Maybe not by blood, but definitely by heart."
