Chapter 28
(Piya's POV)

I searched for Abhay everywhere. But I couldn't find him. I could sense him in the house, but where exactly was he? I didn't have much time...I needed to warn him. I found myself at the top of the staircase.

"Abhay..." I called.

(Abhay's POV)

"Abhay..." I heard her voice. She was nearby. I could feel her presence in the house. I walked towards the door of the study. Everyone was confused.

"Abhay where are you going?" Dad asked.

"I can feel Piya. She is somewhere around here." I said. I pushed the doors open and walked outside. I searched frantically for her.

"Piya?" I looked at the top of the staircase, and there she was. She looked relieved. I ran upstairs to her. I tried to touch her...but my hand went though. She didn't look the same either.

"Abhay I don't have much time..."

"How did you get here Piya? And why can't I touch you?" I asked.

"This is my spirit...my body is still trapped. You have to save me Abhay." There was a plea in her eyes.

"I will do anything in my power to save you Piya. Just tell me where you are." I said.

"I don't know...all I know is that it's a dark stone cave. And water seeps through the ceiling, and I could here a crashing sound above me...it's scary..." She said, her voice shaking. "I have to leave now...I can't stay for long..."

"I will get you out of there soon Piya. I won't let that man live once I get my hands on him." I said. She smiled a little in faith. She walked backwards a few steps and vanished into thin air. I hurried back to the study.

"Did you find her Abhay?" Mom asked.

"I did. Her spirit came and spoke to me." Diana looked at me confused.

"But I didn't teach her that spell..." She said.

"What spell?" I asked.

"It's a spell only a few moonlight witches now how to master. With it, we can travel outside of our bodies for a certain amount of time. Piya must've learnt it on her own and used it to come here."

I thought about the place where Piya was mentioning. A cave, water dripping heavily from the ceiling, a crashing noise. The only place I could think of was the waterfall on the other side of the city. That place was abandoned as well. He must be hiding her there.

"From what she told me...it sounds like they are holding her captive somewhere near the waterfall...the one on the other side of the city." I said.

"That might be a possibility. No one has been there for decades." Samarth said.

While we were discussing this, the councilmen where huddled in a small group in the corner. Occasionally they looked at me and nodded to each other.

"Chand...Haseena...please come here." They called them over, and they went outside. I sat down in front of the fireplace and closed my eyes. My anger was returning again. It had taken me decades to control it, but now it was coming back.

(Writer's POV)

Chand and Haseena exchanged glances with each other after looking back at their son through the crevice in the door. There was something about him that the councilmen hadn't known, but they sensed it.

"Chand, I think it's time to tell them."

"I agree."

He thought about how to explain it...and then began...

"I had bitten Abhay after I found him dying in the forest.
He was a target of a murder plot, made by a girl that he had fallen in love with long ago. Her name was Maithili. She used him for her own selfish motives and sent her men to kill him that very night. Luckily, I found him and decided to turn him. It was a blue moon. Being bitten at that time gave him an immense power that we had never seen before. But his bad temper led him to misuse those mastered powers. He used them to even kill Maithili. We wanted him to gain control of his temper before we could let him use them again. I took the step of sealing his powers with the help of a kind witch and then wiping his memory of his powers."

"That means that with those powers, he will be strong enough to take down Arnab?"

"We think so..." Chand replied. "But unfortunately the witch that helped us seal his power is dead now."

One of the councilmen stepped forward.

"We can break the seal. It is important that we have all the power we can get to stop Arnab."

"But how?" Haseena inquired.

"We all can use our magic to break it, but your son will go through a lot of pain because it will be a forced breaking."

"But..." Haseena grew worried for Abhay. She couldn't see her son in any pain. Chand placed his hand on her shoulder.

"Haseena...it must be done." He said. They all ventured inside. The witches gathered around Abhay, who was still seated in the chair.

(Abhay's POV)

"What's going on?" I asked abruptly. They gathered around me in a circle.

"We will explain everything after we have finished our job." The one behind me said.

Suddenly, I found myself pinned to the chair. The warlock behind me put his hands on my temples and they all began to chant a spell. Every nerve in my body was ignited. I felt like my body was slowly being torn apart. My sharp nails began to dig into the fabric of the chair, and I could feel my fangs emerging. Then the pain was gradually replaced by a strong energy, coursing through my body. I felt reborn.

"The seal has been broken." The warlock left his touch from me. Dad came up to me and put his hand on my shoulder.

"How are you feeling Abhay?"

"What just happened? What did they do to me?" I hissed.

"I'll explain." He said, and narrated the situation. I stared at him.

"I want my memory back Dad. I need it back." I growled. He nodded after careful consideration. If I had already mastered those powers, I needed to remember how to use them.

"Hold still." He said, placing his hand on my head. Then suddenly, the flashes of the past returned to me. How my temper was so bad decades ago that I had to lose my power. I vowed to myself that I wouldn't let that happen again. I needed it to save my Piya.

I returned to reality with a jolt, remembering everything that I had forgotten. The anger, betrayal, bloodlust, and the powers I had possessed, all came back to me. Feeling rejuvenated again, I stood up and started out for the waterfall. I didn't care for the world around me. I just wanted my jaan back in my arms.

"Abhay wait!" Sid called. He stood in front of the door. "I'm coming with you..."

"Okay..." I said. I looked back at dad, who nodded in approval. We then set out.

(Piya's POV)

I was back in my body, chained to the cold stone wall once again. Luckily no one had come here in my absence. I sighed in relief. Abhay had seemed to get an idea about my location. Soon he would rescue me.

The chains began to cut into my wrists. I felt blood trickling out of them. It hurt badly, and I couldn't heal them. I bit my lip to try and ignore the pain. But it wouldn't go away. The chains were unbreakable, so I couldn't escape either. Then suddenly I heard the metal door creak open. And there he stood. My so called father. Rage built up inside of me as I began to fight at the chain. He laughed at my plight, then slowly stepped forward towards me till he was inches away from my face.

"How is my beautiful daughter doing?" He said.

"I'm not your daughter..." I hissed at him. He seemed amused.

"You look just like Sugandh..." He continued. "And are just like her too."

"Don't you dare take her name with your filthy mouth!" I said.

"Now...now...that's no way to talk to your father..." He grabbed my neck.

"You are no one to me..." I sputtered. He let go in frustration. He wasn't about to break me.

"I guess I'll have to punish you for your behavior, my darling daughter." He said evilly.

He suddenly levitated into the air, the. Thrust his hand towards the ground. Dozens of snakes covered the floor until it wasn't visible anymore. I shrieked in fear. I hated snakes to begin with, now there were at least 100 in the room. He laughed, then went to the doorway.

"They may not be able to kill you, but their poison will bring you so much pain that you'll never speak to me like that again!" He said, then disappeared.

The snakes began to move towards my feet. I moved them as much as I could, but one snake got my left ankle and bit me there. I shriek in pain. The poison began to show its effects...an intense burn spread through my body. But then they all vanished, one by one.

My body was weakening slowly, I couldn't fight the poison. Soon my world became pitch black, as I stumbled into unconsciousness.

(Abhay's POV)

Sid and I soon reached the waterfall. We stood behind the trees just to make sure the coast was clear.

"Abhay...there are a few wolves patrolling the area."

"They must be under Arnab's control." I said.

"Follow me. This way." Sid ushered. I followed him to the area behind the werewolves. I gave a quick nod to him, as a signal. He nodded back. Then we attacked. The wolves were caught by surprise. I could already feel the power I was exerting as I attacked them. Some even recoiled in fear because of it. More reinforcements came, by that time Sid and I killed 10 wolves. We were surrounded by them, back to back. They were closing in on us when suddenly mom, dad, and Shweta came and joined us, along with everyone else. We fought them off easily, until the rest fled the scene. No one was injured too much.

"Thanks everyone..." I told everyone.

I proceeded towards the waterfall, but instead I hit an invisible barrier that threw me back a couple feet.

"Arnab came prepared." Dad said. "We need to think of another plan."
