Yes! it's all for Aarzoo.

Winning the deal is important to him because he wants to end his misery and start afresh with Aarzoo. Once Sahir came to know that Zaki is also getting the same vibes from Aarzoo like him, he desperately wanted to confirm who she is in love with. Sahir believes Aarzoo is in love with him, hence the urge for that challenge with Zaki that she will say " I love you to me". Sahir was pretty confident that she will confess her love for him, and he purposely painted a gold digger image of Aarzoo as he wanted Zaki to fall out of Aarzoo's love thinking she is unworthy of him. Sahir wants Zaki to back off completely for a zen life with his love, Aarzoo.

I too felt that his confession wasn't preplanned, he blurted out the truth when she melted into his embrace, it's true to heart.
