Chapter 20
My Rants Are Even More Peculiar Than A Monkey Wearing Glasses
"No, Tyler," I said with a sigh. "I will not do that."
I was irritated to the point where I was even ready to punch the person standing next to me, who so happened to be Tyler. Him not being around with Travis was a rare occasion. They were practically joined to the hip.. well no kidding, they're twins.
"But it's just for today, Em," he whined in reply. I turned to him with one of my glares which worked on everybody.. except the twins, I guess, because he seemed quite unaffected by it. Right now, I wanted to run away from him. Who wouldn't? I was just taking out my stuff from the locker after a very boring period of math when Tyler approached me with a nervous stance. I was surprised, to say the least. He's definitely not the shy type. When I asked him what the matter was, he directly asked me out. Now, that was a shocker because I always thought of him as my brother. Apparently, he does too (as a sister, not brother. Duh!). He went on to explain that there was this girl he liked and wanted me to act like his girlfriend for a day to make his crush jealous. Why would I do something like that? I mean, of course, I had no problem to help him out but fake girlfriend? Really? There are so many other ways but he just has to go with the worst one.
"Ty, I know you really like her but this is not the way to do it. Come to think of it, she'll believe you're taken and wouldn't even approach you. Do you want that?" I said, gently. He seemed to be surprised by my tone. Well, he had every right to be because after my life started to go downhill, I hardly ever talked to them like that. I had put up a cold exterior at first and I did grow comfortable around them again but that's just it. I was always sarcastic, shouting insults at them. I was someone I never thought I would be. Thinking back upon it, I think it was pretty disgusting of me. Yes, I had gone through a lot of hell and yes, I was uncomfortable with the thought of growing closer to them, only to have them break me, but that didn't mean I had go all bitchy towards them.
"Erm... what happened to you?" He asked with a weird look. I smiled at him in response. "Guess the old Em's back." That was enough to make him return my smile. What I didn't expect was a hug from him.
"I'm glad, Emmie," he said, his voice soft. "I think we owe him, huh?"
I pulled back with raised eyebrows. "Owe him? Who's 'Him'?"
"Virat," he replied with a chuckle. "Emmie, he helped you. Do you think we don't notice how you're around him? Whenever you're with him, you're just... back. You seem to be happy even though you fight so much. But... yeah. You only pretend to hate him but you don't."
I rolled my eyes. "I don't pretend to hate Virat. In fact, we're good friends now. So you're going absolutely wrong here."
He somehow found it amusing, laughing a bit. "Good friends? Emmie, you're so oblivious." I frowned as he turned. "Hey wait, Ty. What do you mean by 'oblivious'?"
"It's for you to find out!" He replied, not even looking back. I ran up to him. "What's with calling me Emmie, anyway?" I couldn't help but smile when I remembered he and Travis used to call me Emmie. It eventually stopped when I tried to block them out of my life. "Oh, it's nothing. Just missed call you that, Emmie."
"And what about needing my help?"
"Nah! I can do it myself. After all, who can resist this?" He replied, motioning towards his body which earned a smack from me.
And just like that I forgot what he said to me. I don't know why but right now, it was the least of my worries.

"Why are you glowing so much?" Neil asked, suspiciously, as I took a seat in our usual lunch table. I shrugged. "Is that a problem?"
"No. Just weird."
I ignored the strange looks that I was getting from the guys, while having my lunch with a smug smile. "Are you alright, Em?" Sophie asked, her eyebrows furrowed. I saw Tyler give a smirk to the others.
Silence enveloped the table as I frowned at all of them. "Okay. Are you guys going to talk at all? Or are you going to stare at me?"
"Um... we're just asking what happened to you," Chad said, as the others nodded in agreement. "Nothing. Can't I be myself without you guys asking me questions?"
I smiled at them widely, which must have given away something because the others smiles right back. See what I meant about us being a family?
I felt someone's presence behind me and was just about to turn when I felt a hot breath on my neck. I resisted the urge to shiver. "Hey Peaches. Missed me?" I didn't even need to turn to see who it was. Virat sat on the seat beside me and gave me a smug smile when he saw the blush on my cheek. "You know what? Well, I didn't miss you. I was too busy in my room, reading my precious books while having skittles. It really helps to improve my mood, you know? In fact, I even played with Imagine and I hate myself for not spending time with him. He's such a darling. I regret not playing with him. Although, his spit is really yuck but I still love him. His fur... oh don't even get me started. His fur is sooo soft, it just makes me want to cuddle with him. He probably hates it when I call him Ginnie. I mean I do agree that I'm horrible with nicknames. I used to call Chad, Chaddy which really annoyed the heck out of him. Didn't it, Chad?"
Now you know what happens when I'm nervous. I blush, I rant, I embarrass myself. So I wasn't surprised when I blushed even more when everybody started to laugh. Well, what can I say? My rants are even more peculiar than a monkey wearing glasses. Er... right, that was just way too weird.
"What was that?" Neil asked, while a shot a glare at him.
"Do I have that effect on you, Peaches?" I didn't have to look at him to know that his lips were probably plastered into a smirk. Yes, yes you do. "Screw you, Jock," I scoffed.
"I bet you want to," he replied with his signature smirk as I scrunched up my nose in disgust. "EW. Just... just no."
He was just about to reply when his eyes flickered to Jason who strolled towards our table with a grin on his face. "Hey guys!"
"Jasy, we haven't had a proper chat since ages," I said with a pout which made him chuckle.
"You were too busy with Virat Jerk-face Vadhera, here," he replied, feigning hurt. I gasped over dramatically. "Oh no! It's all a misunderstanding. I can never be with him when I have you."
"Oh but you did ignore me and now I'm broken. You've broken my heart, Little Em," he said, acting along. I fake cried, "No, don't say this Jasy. Please!"
"Okay that's enough, you too," Sophie said, rolling her eyes. I could see the others snickering along, especially Tyler and Travis. Well, they always laugh too much. Suddenly, everyone became silent. I raised my eyebrows and turned when I realized they were looking behind my back. Walking towards us, swaying her hips, was Katheryn. I gave her a disgusted look when she smirked. I turned around to face the others and let me tell you, having hot soup pour down your body, is not fun. I jumped up from my seat and glared at Katheryn who was standing there with her hands on her hips and the bowl of soup discarded on the floor. "What the HELL was that for?" I spat at her, pulling my top away from my body. It felt so hot that I suspected I might have burned marks. "Come on, it was a mistake," she said with a roll of her eyes. I scoffed, "Didn't look like a mistake."
"Oh puh-lease! You're making a big deal out of this." Seriously where were the teachers when you needed them? I grabbed the plate of spaghetti from our table and caught hold of her top. I dumped the whole plate inside her top and poured cold water all over her. She gasped and I realized that the whole cafeteria was quiet, looking at us. "Whoops," I said innocently.
"How dare you?!" She shrieked.
"Oh puh-lease! You're making a big deal out of this," I imitated her and then walked out of the cafeteria, towards the washroom. I entered and looked at myself on the mirror. And what I saw was a complete disaster. My whole top was ruined and my skin was burning. I tried to wash the stain away with water but I ruined it even more. With a sigh, I walked out of the bathroom to find Sophie. Before I could even take a few more steps, a hand yanked me back and I came face-to-face with someone's chest. I didn't have to look up to see who he was. "What is it, Virat?" I let the irritation seep through my voice. "Your top's ruined," he stated which made me roll my eyes.
"Well, thank you, Captain Obvious."
He shook his head, slightly amused, and started walking and pulling me along with him. His hand was still clutching my wrist and I could feel the tingly sensations almost instantly. Oh, I'm being such a girl. Um well... actually I am one. Which really isn't my point here. "Where are you leading me?" I asked warily, while I heard him sigh.
"Peaches, do you have zero trust in me that you have to ask so many questions all the time?" He asked, slightly annoyed.
"Yes," I replied cheekily along with a snicker.
"Well... I had an extra sweatshirt but since you don't trust me, I guess you don't need it." Cheeky ass! I knew he had his usual stupid smirk on his face, even though I couldn't seem him.
"Okay okay! I trust you but please I need your sweatshirt. Right. Now."
He stopped and turned towards me. "Wait up here. I'll bring it." What was the point of dragging me when I had stop anyways? After a few minutes, he returned with a dark blue sweatshirt which I accepted and mumbled a thanks. I changed in the bathroom and looked at myself. It was really huge for me but comfortable nevertheless. His usual scent hit my nose and I brought my hand in front of my nose to smell it. A goofy smile formed on my lips but it was replaced by a frown when I looked at myself. My hair was a total mess and to top it up, I looked like I just woke up. Sighing, I quickly tied my hair into a bun and escaped the bathroom. Virat was still standing there with a smirk on his lips. I almost rolled my eyes. Why did he even have to smirk? I mean, when was the last time I saw him smile? A real smile. The dimple smile... the heart-stopping, breathtaking, gorgeous smile... what the hell? You're acting like his stupid fan-girls!! STOP IT, Maanvi!!
"You look nice."
I snorted. "Nice is not the right word, Vadhera. More like, stupid. Your sweatshirt is way too huge."
"But you like it," he replied and I internally nodded. It was comfortable and not to mention, smelled like him. What was happening to me? UGH! I cannot let him affect me this way. No way. As if God came to my rescue, the bell rang. I made my way towards my locker but halted when I realized Virat was following me. "You don't have to follow me like a lost puppy. Go to your class, Virat."
"I don't want to."
"You have to. So go!"
He nodded and flashed me a smile before leaving. That smile which made my knees wobbly. I banged my head on the locker. "Woah! Are you trying to kill yourself?" What the hell was happening? As if my day wasn't bad enough. I turned to face Jake who was standing there with a smile. Didn't he get it that I hated him? "What is your problem, Jake?"
"Maanvi, I need to talk to you," he almost pleaded and I don't know why but I felt myself nodding. I shouldn't have but I did. "Look, I know whatever I did was wrong. I shouldn't have cheated on you. Please forgive me, Em. I still love you."
I stared at him in disbelief. "What did you just say?" I hissed with anger.
"I love you." I resisted the urge to slap him. "No you don't. So don't give me that excuse. Jake, you never loved me and never will so stop okay? Find yourself someone else but just leave me alone."
"Em, please," he said, reaching for me but I flinched. He seemed hurt but I didn't care. "I love you."
I pushed him away from and walked towards my class. It bothered me. I didn't want to believe him but he sounded so sincere. And I hated myself for believing him. Did he deserve a second chance? Was I ready to forgive him?
After all that I went through, was it worth it?
The answer was simple... no. I knew I shouldn't do it but there was still some kind of doubt.
Why is my life so messed up?

Heya all!
I hope you all liked this chapter :D I hate to say this to you guys but I won't be able to update till 11th January 2015 because I'm going to my hometown. I won't even get the time to update so I'm really sorry. However, if I do manage to get a few minutes, then I'll definitely update. It's not a promise because I'll probably be busy and well i'll be enjoying so yeah :P
