Has Upen lost his marbles? hahahahaha...I mean, I get it that he is super affected by his friends leaving, and that he thinks he needs to step up his entertainment value, but APING Gautam is not going to do ANYTHING.
The point is, to be entertaining also you have to be ORIGINAL. Ali, is as entertaining, but he doesn't ape Gautam, he has his own style of entertaining people. Pritam also had his own humor and jokes (before they got too crass) that made the audience laugh and like him. Sonali, as lazy as she is, her nonchalant attitude and flipping of hair, got her the necessary attention. Karishma too, is liked for her individuality and even her "dumb" quotient is part of what makes the TRP's.
Upen, was literally trying to be Gautam. He was told for 2 months now to voice up and be himself, but he was stuck in the bedroom, doing nothing. Although, I did commend his calm and patient self. And probably that's what the audience liked and saved him for so long. Now, this nonsense he is doing, totally out of character, and trying to be someone else, stupid gaining sympathy tactics, is going to lose whatever few fans he had.
I would have totally appreciated if he had either played his calm self till the end ( I think he would have gone pretty far and probably even won with that ), or he could have started being entertaining by doing whatever his own brand of entertainment is, but copying someone else is totally lame and DEF does not work for me. Yes, gautam haters will love Upen and go crazy over him, which is weird because he is behaving just like GAUTAM ( LOL) but this was just so random, I didn't laugh. But I just felt sad for him that he needs some guidance.
He could have been a great competitor to Gautam, if he played himself, like Ali did. But being Gautam, isn't going to help his popularity at all.
I don't mind if he goes crazy and provides the much needed entertainment, but playing a housemate who we've already seen go crazy, is just frustrating and stupid.
