Chahat Ke Dhun

"Ek minute Ishita. I am not done yet"

Ishita stopped in her tracks. By the time she turned back, Raman was already on the stage, his back facing her. She wondered what he was upto now.

Romi had dimmed the lights by then. The atmosphere was illuminated with the harmonious playing of the guitar.

Hai Saaz Tu, Tera Tarj Main
Tu Hai Dawa, Aur Marz Main

Dildar Tu, Khud Garz Main

With that he turned to face her, holding the guitar in his hands and singing

(Imagine that as Raman)

She was awestruck. She could not decide what touched her heart. Was it the effortless playing of the guitar or the words that left his mouth? Was it his new avatar or his eyes that conveyed that he genuinely meant each word he said? She was still in daze when a few happy tears ran on her alabaster cheeks.

He was in front of her in few steps and wiped the tears on her cheeks with the next line

He saw lovingly at her

Tujh Se Mila Toh Paa Liya, Har Cheez Main

He threw the guitar towards Mihir who continued playing it while Raman offered her his hand asking for a dance

She willingly gave her hand in his

and he sang the next line thanking her for accepting his hand

He took her to the stage

The lights came back as he sang the next line

Ki Andheron Se Hum Mukhar Gaye

She was amazed at the perfect tuning of song and the lights. She had to admit that her husband was a PERFECT PLANNER.

He twirled her around

She landed in his arms now.

He slowly swayed along with her

He turned around her, embraced her from back and swayed along

Now he went around her

He stopped in front of her holding her hands in his

The song had ended, so had the music but the moment had not ended for the two lovebirds. They were lost in each other's eyes. Raman, mechanically lifted her hands to his lips and kissed them. Her eyes were all for him and a wide smile plastered on her lips. He could not help noticing her pink lips that were inviting him to lock them with his. Forgetting the surroundings he inched closer to her.

Mrs. Bhalla & Mrs.Iyer covered their mouth with one hand and their grandkids eyes with the other. Others had their mouth hung while Romi had his eyes glued to see what next. Everyone present had lost their sense except one who intervened timely stop his brother and lovely sister from embarrassment

"Bhai family show hai. Control" Mihir said immediately climbing onto the stage and placing a hand on Raman's shoulder.

Raman & Ishita jerked away. Raman ran his hand in his hairs with embarrassment. Ishita did not dare to meet anyone's eyes, so kept looking down, her cheeks flushed.

"Pehle hi patha hotha ke tumhara ye irada hai to lage hathon honeymoon suite bhi book kara lethe. Hotel wale discount bhi de dete. Itne chote family function keliye itna bada hall jo book karwaya hai!" Bala winked at Raman.

"Bala Ruhi aur Shravan bhi hain yahan pe. Bachhon ke samne ye kaisi batein kar rahe ho?" Raman said trying to save his skin.

"Bada jaldi yad aya ke yahan pe bachhe bhi hain. Shukr manao ke mai waqt pe agaya. Warna bachhe to uncensored trailer dekhne wale the Yeh Hai Mohabbatein' ka" Mihir teased Raman.

"Ok mere baap! Thank you" Raman joined his hands in front of him. Ishita was preparing to escape when Raman held her hand and turned towards the teasing duo "Ab kya tum donon stage khali karne ki kripa karoge? Mujhe Ishita se kuch kehna hai" he begged.

"Mujhe kuch kehna hai

Mujhe kuch kehna hai" Mihir sang annoying him more

He earned a deadly glare from Raman. Scared of his brother, he was about to make an exit when Bala stopped him. His evil intentions clear from his gesture "Ek shart pe hum stage se utrenge"

"Kya hai?" Raman asked annoyed.

"Ye Musical Concert hai. Hai na Mihir?" Bala asked dramatically and Mihir agreed.

"Oh mujhe to patha hi nahi tha. Thanks for the kind information" Raman commented sarcastically "Ab aage?" he said gritting his teeth

"To tumhe job hi kehna hai wo tumhe gaake bolna hoga" Bala challenged him

"Wah Bala! Kya idea hai. I like it" Mihir supported him.

"Ye kya bakwas kar rahe ho. Dono abhi utarte ho ya..."

"No...no...no...no...challenge to tumhe accept karna hi padega. Kahin Punjabi Madrasiyon se dar to nahi gaye" Bala knew to hit the right buttons.

"Bhai ab to apko challenge accept karna hi padega. Baat hamare pind ki hai. Come on Bhai you can do it"

"Come on Bhai dikha do" Romi screamed from his place. Simmi whistled.

"Shava puttar shava. In madrasiyon ko dikha de ke hum kisise nahi darte. Chak de phatte" Mrs.Bhalla did a bhangra.

"Hum bhi dekhte hain ke Raman kaise gake bolta hai" it seemed Mrs.Iyer had taken the challenge seriously.

"Come on Papa! You can do it" Ruhi joined the cheer league.

"To Raman kya kehte ho? Challenge accepted?" Bala questioned.

Ishita was continuously begging her jiju to stop with her eyes. But now the matter had changed into a war. So there was no looking back.

Raman removed his over-coat, raised the sleeves upto his elbow as if getting ready for arm-wrestling and said

"Challenge Accepted"

Wooo the cheering, the clapping and whistling could be heard. It was making Ishita nervous. She pleaded Raman with her eyes that all this was not needed. The determined look in his eyes did not help but made her all the more nervous. She was fiddling with the corner of her Saree when suddenly Raman kneeled in front of her and started singing

Lo Aaj Sanam Ye Kahte Hain

Wooo...another round of cheering and whistling...Ishita looked at Raman who was singing with all honesty

Elephant size butterflies in her stomach were giving her goosebumps. He had finally confessed and her heart started thudding louder and louder.

He repeated the lines still in same position

It was more like asking her I Love You. Do You Love Me Too?

She nodded her head assenting and added

Yeyyy! She could hear Ruhi jumping in victory.

He stood up. Cupped his hands for making a prayer and looked up saying

Apna Milan Hua

She brought her hand forward asking for a promise

Milke Chalo Wada Karo

He kept his hand on hers promising looking into her eyes

Chhup Jau Aankho Mein
Bas Jau Saanson Mein
Dhadkan Ki Hai Sada

Her eyes showed the fear of separation. She kept a hand on her heart and said

Ek Pal Kabhi Jo Dur Hue
Dard Hajaro Sahte Hai

He grabbed her hand kept on his heart and sang

Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain

She reciprocated his feelings by repeating his actions and lines

He cupped her cheeks reassuring that he would never leave her

Hurr hurr hurr Toshiji beamed victoriously as IshRa broke the hug. Everyone clapped and cheered loudly.

Raman took out the bracelet from his pocket "Ishita aaj ise apne hathon se pehnakar deal pakka seal kar do"

Ishita's expressions changed "Nahi Raman! Ye bracelet bahut manhoos hai. Jab se khareeda hai kuch na kuch bura hua hai"

"Nahi Ishita. Ye bracelet manhoos nahi bilkul tumhari tarah ziddi hai"

"Kuchh bhi?"

"Sach keh raha hun. Jab tum meri zindagi me ayi to mai tumhe khud se door karna chahta tha. Par jitna bhi door karta tum utne paas ati. Tumhe jitna todne ki koshish karta tum utna mazboot banti. Phir na chahte hue bhi jab tumhe apni zindagi me le aya phir bhi door rahne ki koshish ki. Jab chaha aur apnane ki koshish ki to meri majbooriyon ne tumse door kiya. Magar ab wada hai mai tumhe kabhi apne se door nahi jane doonga. Aur jab tak meri sansein chalengi ye bracelet mere hath me hoga. Isliye mai chahta hunke tum mujhe ise apne hathon se pehnao. Aur is baar no compromise, no complications"

Raman's honesty touched her. She silently took the bracelet and tied it around his wrist.

She smiled.

"Deal to Pakka hogaya. Ab contract bhi sign kar lein?"

"Contract?" She asked raising her eyes in confusion.

"Hamari shadi ek contract thi. Sirf Ruhi keliye. Ab mai us contract ko renew karna chahta hun. Aur iski ek hi condition hogi"

"Kya?"

"Ke hum hamesha ek doosre se pyar karte rahenge aur ek doosre ka sath kabhi nahi chodenge"

She grinned wide.

"To contract manzoor hai?"

"Haan"

"To chalein?"

"Kahan?"

"Contract sign karne"

"Ab aap mujhe court to nahi le jaoge na?" she asked bewildered.

"Chalo to sahi" he dragged her with him.

"Aap log khade khade yahan kya kar rahe hain. Chaliye. Mujhe witnesses ki bhi zarurat padegi" he gestured his family to follow and they followed enthusiastically.

They came to a halt in front of a beautifully decorated Wedding Mandap.

Their names were beautifully engraved in gold on a red background. She looked at herself now realizing why she was made to wear the Red wedding saree.

She shook her head meaning You are just perfect. Raman winked and shrugged meaning I know that.

"Panditji muhurat shuru hone me kitna waqt hai?"

"Bilkul sahi samay pe aye ho beta. Shubh muhurat bas abhi shuru hua hai"

"To chalein?" he asked her.

She nodded her head. Vandu and Mihika held her arms and took her to the Mandap while Romi and Mihir joined Raman.

Shravan brought Varmala for Ishita and Ruhi brought it for Raman. The song played as they exchanged garlands and finished the initial rituals

Flowers were showered on them as they took pheres

They finished the phere and sat down

"Ye vivah sampann hua" Panditji announced. Toshiji and Madhavi joined their IshRa's heads together

Yeh kabhi tho hona tha
In dilon ka khona tha
Ban gayi hai prem kahani

They took elder's blessings.

Ruhi stood in front of them and signaled with her fingers to come closer. They smiled and came closer to kiss her cheeks, when she signaled them to stop and pointed towards her feet. They looked at her asking what.

"Mai to Dadi Amma hun na. To Dadi Amma ka ashirwad nahi lena?" she asked hands on hips.

They both smiled and silently obliged to her demand. She kept hands on their heads and said "Sada Suhagan Raho"

Dua hai nibhe inki chahatein

They kissed her and took her in a perfect family hug

Pal pal bade yeh hai mohabbtein

Click Mihir, Mihika, Romi captured the picture perfect moment in their cameras.
