Last week the websites and tabloids went ballistic reporting an alleged showdown between bride Arpita Khan and costume designers Abu and Sandeep who had designed her bridal outfit
The story that went viral and occupied much television space went like this:
When Arpita was presented her bridal outfit she kicked up a fuss about the fabric and the fitting. To this Abu-Sandeep retorted with a sneer, blaming Arpita's body-type for the sartorial slipup. Arpita ran in tears to her brother Salman Khan who in turn, ran after Abu-Sandeep who in turn ran to their friend Jaya Bachchan to intervene. A veteran actress who is close to Abu-Sandeep dismisses the controversy as a "complete concoction."
"None of this ever happened. Arpita was thrilled with her bridal wear-she told me so herself-- and couldn't stop praising Abu and Sandeep. In any case Abu and Sandeep are extremely well-behaved sorts. They are not the kind who make rude comments about body types to anyone, least of all their clients. And why drag Jayaji into this? Can you imagine her calling up Salman for anyone? Why make up such stories?" asks the veteran actress angrily.
One doesn't know what prompts such furious fantasies in the fiction writers.
