Episode 10: Burning DesiresOn the road, Kabir and Damini were alone, riding on Kabir's bike. They went along the road without saying a word. Damini sat behind Kabir, calmly keeping her distance from Kabir on the bike. As they continued riding, the bike skidded on a pothole on the road. Because of the force, Damini was drawn closer to Kabir, her hands thrown onto Kabir's shoulders with her face drawn closer to Kabir's neck. Kabir felt alarmed at Damini's propinquity to him. He didn't say a word, but he could feel overwhelmed as Damini remained right near him. Kabir...remain calm. You can't let arousing feelings take over you, Kabir thought to himself. You can't let Raja bhai down.
By now I would have let go, Damini thought to herself. But around him, I feel something different. Something I never felt before. But what is it?
As the two continued on the road, they were unaware of the dangers coming for them.
At Bandra Police Department, Inspector Raina sent three officers each into five jeeps. As she was getting ready to get into her own jeep with Officer Aayat, ACP Kamal called her and said, "Are you sure you know what you're doing?"
"Yes, sir," Inspector Raina replied. "I sent the officers into a different route to head to Pune. Once they reach there, they'll be dispatched into different locations so we can counter that boy across the city."
"I just hope we catch him this time." ACP Kamal said.
"I don't mind seeing his dead body either." Inspector Raina told ACP Kamal with a look of vengeance on her face.
On the other hand, trouble began to unknowingly brew for Kabir and Damini. Sahir and Aryan were right on their tail, riding Aryan's bike from behind. The two wore ski masks so they couldn't be recognized. "Get ready to fire." Sahir told Aryan.
Aryan drew out his revolver from his jacket. He aimed it right where Kabir and Damini were at. "Pull the trigger." Sahir ordered as he continued to ride the bike. Aryan trembled as he tried to pull the trigger back on the gun. But for some reason, he just couldn't pull it. "I told you to shoot!" Sahir repeated.
Aryan still struggled to shoot, shivering as he held the gun in his hand. Frustrated, Sahir took the gun away from Aryan and immediately fired. The shot almost hit Kabir and Damini's bike to which they became alarmed at the sound. Damini turned around, while Kabir looked in his bike mirror to see the two behind them.
"Who are they?!" Damini asked.
"They might be police in disguise!" Kabir replied.
Sahir continued to fire shots as he drove the bike. Kabir and Damini tried to dodge, until a bullet hit the tire of Kabir's bike, causing the bike to derail on the road. Kabir and Damini fell off the bike and immediately got up and ran as Sahir continued to go after them on his bike, constantly firing shots at them. Kabir and Damini kept running till they reached a viaduct over water. As they ran, Sahir stopped the bike and ran after them while Aryan remained on the bike. Sahir prepared the gun to aim perfectly at Kabir and Damini. Kabir turned as he saw Sahir aim first at Damini. Once the bullet was fired, Kabir shouted "Damini!" while pushing her out of the way. In doing so, the bullet shot Kabir directly in the arm. And with that, the two fell over the viaduct and down into the water. Sahir cackled as he took off his mask, feeling a sense of victory. But then, he angrily went to Aryan. He removed Aryan's mask and gave him a tight slap across the face.
Aryan touched the side of his face, shocked. "You useless son of a gun! You've become so weak that you can't even hold a gun properly!" Sahir yelled. "Get stranded for all I care! Good for nothing idiot!"
Sahir pushed a disheartened Aryan off the bike and took off, driving on the road, leaving Aryan alone on the viaduct in tears.
Down in the water, Damini emerged from the waters, holding onto an injured Kabir. Damini tried to pull Kabir along the river to dry land. As hard it was, the two made it and Damini found them to be in front of a small motel. As she helped Kabir inside, she spoke with a receptionist for a room and some medical assistance.
"I see. We have one vacant room. But do you want to take him to a hospital?" the receptionist asked.
"No. I can manage if you have some first aid I can use." Damini said.
"Sure. We'll have supplies sent to your room. May I ask what's your relation with this man?" the receptionist asked.
Damini looked at the receptionist, startled with the question. As she pondered for a moment, she finally said, "He's my husband."
"Oh, I see! You can take him to your room. We'll send everything you need." the receptionist said. Damini nodded her head and headed down the hall into the motel room. She helped Kabir lay down on the bed. As he laid unconscious, Damini looked at him. I can't believe I said he's my husband. But I had no choice. Otherwise they would never let one woman and one man share a room, Damini thought to herself. At least someone will come with medical aid. I can't afford to take him to a hospital. Surprisingly, I would if I could. He actually saved my life.
After a few minutes, a nurse arrived with some medical supplies for Damini which included bandages and other things. Once the nurse left, Damini helped Kabir sit up as he had awoken. He could feel the pain his arm as his arm began to bleed. Damini proceeded to remove the bullet with a metal tool she found. As she slowly removed the bullet, Kabir couldn't bare the pain. Once she got it out, Kabir put his hands on Damini's arms as the pain became unbearable. Damini looked directly into Kabir's eyes as he held onto her tightly for reassurance. He looked back at her, lost in her glowing eyes. "You'll be fine. I just need to bandage the wound." Damini told Kabir.
Kabir let go of Damini, while Damini placed a cotton cloth on the wounded area on Kabir's arm to stop the bleeding. As she left it there, Damini got closer to Kabir and began bandaging the wound. As she was bandaging the wound, Damini's long hair came down her shoulder, going against Kabir's face. She didn't notice this until Kabir pulled her hair away, looking directly at her. Damini turned to him, the two of them sharing an eye lock. As they continued to stare into each others eyes, Damini finally said, "Its done."
Kabir looked at his arm, seeing it was bandaged up. "Thank you." Kabir said softly.
Damini nodded as she turned away. As she was walking away, she turned back and said, "By the way...I have to say thank you."
"For what?"
"You saved my life. The bullet could have easily killed me. Even then, you pushed me out of the way and took it yourself. The question is...why?"
Kabir remained silent, unable to find an answer to Damini's question. Damini nodded her head and said, "Its okay. Maybe the answer to that will remain a mystery."
With that, Damini turned around and left the motel room, with Kabir looking on.
