CHAPTER 7

Navya composed herself and entered inside the house with heavy steps. Om and Sugandha were sitting in the living room.

"How was your day, beta?" Asked Om.

"Very nice, papa." Replied Navya with a fake smile.

She sat beside them and gave them the gifts she bought. Sugandha was quite astonished with the gifts she bought for them as hardly a week has passed and she knows their taste quite well.

"Thanks, beta." Smiled Sugandha at her for the first time.

Navya smiled sweetly in reply. She seemed to have forgotten about her current sadness for a moment. Om witnessed the scene with a silent smile.

It was 8:00 o'clock now. Navya was going towards the kitchen but stopped midway hearing the doorbell rang. She stepped forward in an attempt to open the door but stopped thinking it might be Anant. She didn't want to face him as she is very hurt.

Lochan opened the door and she saw him getting in but what surprises her that he didn't come alone but with a girl. It irks her a bit seeing him with a girl without realizing the reason.

Sugandha greeted her with a pleasant smile and hugged her.

"Kanika dear, how are you? Forgot your aunty na!" Complained Sugandha as they sat on the sofas.

"No aunty, nothing like that. This Anant never invites me to his house." Kanika said while lightly punching on his shoulder.

"Arae now you need an invitation? Maa, such a dramebaaz she is!" Said Anant.

"Look how sweetly he is behaving with that girl and here I am a nobody whom he could shout at whenever he feels like!" Navya frowned. Her sadness was turned into anger now.

"Navya, come here." Said Sugandha.

"Navya, this is Kanika, Anant's colleague and friend." Sugandha introduced.

"Hey!" Kanika got up and extended her hand with a fake smile.

"Hi I am Navya, Anant's wife." Navya shook hands with her after pressing on the words "Anant's wife." He looked at her in disbelief as she didn't add that "Ji" with his name even she didn't know why she introduced herself like that.

"You all sit and talk." Smiled Sugandha and went from there.

"Uh...Navya can you get some tea and snacks for us?" Asked Anant. She looked at him in disbelief. It looks as if he has completely forgotten the way he shouted at her few hours before.

"Jii" Replied Navya sternly and went from there.

"What does he think of himself? Did he even realize the way he shouted back at me and now he should apologize? But no! He is simply ordering me to get some tea and snacks for him and that k-a-n-i-k-a." Navya fumed in the kitchen. She was really confused at her own behavior. She is very soft in nature and it was a rare sight to see her behaving this way.

Navya kept the tray of tea and snacks with a bang on the table making them startled.

"Here is your tea and snacks, Anant." Navya looked at him with a straight face.

"Yeah thanks." He smiled lightly. Actually Anant is a bit short tempered in nature. Whenever he gets angry it rises in its peak but then in the next moment he calms by himself forgetting about his anger.

"Err...the tea is quite sugary." Kanika passed a negative remark.

"Oh is it! Sorry I didn't know you are a diabetic." Navya mocked her.

"Excuse me!" Kanika glared at her.

"What?" Navya asked with equal arrogance.

Anant could sense the atmosphere getting a bit heated up now. So he interrupted between them.

"No Navya the tea is perfect. Kanika I hope you have worked on tomorrow's presentation?"

Navya looked away and went from there. Anant saw her going.

"Yes I have. I think I should leave. Bye Anant." Said Kanika and left.

Anant hurriedly went inside their room. Navya was standing facing towards the window.

"Navya, the tea was really good! Sorry if you felt bad by her words." Said Anant

Navya didn't turn back. Anant could sense that something else was wrong with her.

He held her shoulders and turned her towards him. She was looking down. He lifted her chin and saw her eyes were filled with tears. She was crying again.

"Navya kya hua? Did someone hurt you?" He asked softly.

"You." Replied Navya "You have hurt me, Anant. You shouted at me in the car and you didn't even remember now."

Anant realized now. How he vented out his frustration at her and went from there without looking at that poor soul once. He felt really guilty now.

"I am sorry Navya. I am really very sorry. My boss called me for an urgent work and I tried to call you several times but it was unreachable. I was worried for you and then you were not coming which made me angry and I ended up shouting at you." Anant said in one go.

"Aap bure hain Anant. Bohut bure." Said Navya with a teary smile and started hitting his chest.

He held her hands and hugged her tightly. There awkwardness seemed to have gone in that moment.

"Maaf kardo." Whispered Anant.

"Maaf kia." Smiled Navya "Vaise.."

"vaise kya?" He asked breaking the hug.

"I lied to you." Navya pouted.

"Lied? Regarding what?"

"My clutch wasn't lost." Navya went and took a gift out of her closet. "I went to buy something for you."

"A gift for me?" He looked at her amused and happy at the same time.

"A gift for a gift. You don't like formalities na!" Smiled Navya.

He grinned and opened the gift. It was a platinum watch.

"Wow! A watch. I was planning to buy a new one. How did you know that?"

"I can see the latch of your old watch nearly breaking from its ends." Said Navya as she held his hand and tapped on the watch he is wearing right now. "And you don't have time to buy a new one for yourself."

She left her hand with a small smile and went from there. Anant continued to look at her amazed till she was out of his sight.
