Why did rex vote for Arpita?

I don't understand why rex voted for arpita. I thought he would want her out so his position will be safer in FG....or is sandeep his competition? i dont get it....

My assumption:

He probably thought that Sandeep was stiff competition as he's been getting praised by the judges and faculty for improving greatly in the last few weeks. He may have also thought that the Fame jodi would consist of a male and a female and it seems he wants Arpita to be his partner..

Sandeep became a big threat. Rex is smart. Qazi as usual very honest and RR bholi. But Arpita is out. Rex made a smart move. Definitely sandeep was threat to him.
