Chapter 1

Sheesh Mahal, Lucknow.

"Yeh vivaah sampanna hua! Aaj se aap dono pati patni hue!" ,Pandit finished reciting the mantras.. Their wedding affair had finally come to an end.. The wedding had taken place on a low scale as the bride as well as the groom was forced into this. The bride was forced by her father into this marriage while the groom had his own reasons...

Khushi Kumari Gupta, now a Raizada, was not a happy bride like any other who was about to get married. She had trusted her dad to choose a best husband for her after her last boyfriend had ditched her saying that she was not a 'marriage material'. She had really liked Siddharth, her ex-boyfriend and thought of taking their relationship to the next level, that is, by marrying him.. But when she had discussed it with him, he had said all those hurtful words to her which she didn't want to remember. And now just to show him that she was indeed a marriage material, she had asked her dad to find a boy for herself. Her dad had been on cloud nine when she had told him that she wanted to marry someone of his choice. He had immediately found a boy within a week that was suitable for her. She was shocked but agreed for the alliance, anyway but refused to look at the picture of the boy or meet him saying she trusted her dad's choice completely.

But today, she regretted her decision. She thought she would have at least seen the boy's photo and she would not have been married to this Sadu' (as she called him), whom she had known for last 6 years.

Arnav Singh Raizada, India's most wanted bachelor had finally married. Like his wife, he had also not seen the picture of his prospective bride saying that he trusted his Nani's choice completely. He too, regretted his decision of marrying this walking-talking fashion house'. She was that girl, to whom he didn't intend to marry even in his dreams. They were like poles apart. If he was silent and calm then she was chatterbox and full of life, if he was angry young man then she was charming young lady. Such were the differences between them. They had known each other by their faces and names for last 6 years as they both had studied at Harvard's. He was a year senior to her but they had same subjects and being Indian, he had been asked to be her guide for the first year. That year they had developed an instant disliking for each other as he thought Khushi was a spoilt brat while she thought that he was an egoistic boy. After that year, they had always avoided each other like plague.

But fate had some other plans and he was now married to her. Now he was very unsure of what future held for him.

The wedding was finally done followed by taking blessings from elders and a teary goodbye to Khushi from her dad and sister. Her mom had died after giving birth to her sister. So Khushi was the more pampered one. She wasn't a spoilt brat but she wanted all things to happen in her way. And this nature of hers was mistaken by Arnav, as he was the one who would take everything in his life seriously because he had suffered a tragic childhood.

After the Gupta's bid goodbye, it was the time for Grihpravesh, Arnav was asked to carry Khushi in his arms across the threshold. They finished all the rituals and then Khushi entered their room. She was already frustrated with the happenings of her life. By the time Arnav entered the room; Khushi had already changed and was sitting on the recliner. She immediately turned and looked at Arnav with anger-filled eyes and said, "It's just because of you Mr. Arrogant Singh Raizada, now I hate my life." Arnav was startled with this sudden accusation and Mr. Arrogant?' she hadn't forgotten that stupid name she had given him years ago, he thought. But he immediately composed himself and said, "What do you mean I made you hate your life? I could say the same; my life is now ruined just because you're in it." Khushi felt a bit sad when she heard his stern and cold voice. She pushed away that feeling and retorted, "You knew that you were marrying me. And even after knowing that, I hate you, you agreed for this alliance." "What the hell are you talking? I never knew it was you whom I was marrying, unfortunately. If I did, I wouldn't even have allowed Nani to take shagun to your house. I had told Nani that I would marry anyone of her choice and not even bothered to see the photograph of my would-be wife. But now I wish I did." Arnav said while trying to control his anger. Khushi was shocked at this revelation. 'So he didn't know that he was marrying me?' she thought. "You didn't know you were getting married to me?" she asked just to confirm that he had also committed the same mistake like her. "Even I didn't!" she said as she saw him move his head in negative. It was Arnav's turn to get shocked. "You didn't?" he asked. "Naah! I didn't know it was you whom I was marrying. Just like you, even I didn't see the picture of my prospective groom. I was so upset with my breakup with Sid, that I wanted to get married asap. And we got married in so much haste that I didn't even ask my groom's name to my Dad." Arnav felt something twitch at the left side of his chest at the mention of her ex-boyfriend but he ignored it. "So we sail in the same boat it seems." Arnav said thoughtfully. "Now that we're married and I'm stuck with you for probably a lifetime, I need to tell you my reason to get married." Khushi cut in,"What if I want a divorce?" Arnav gave one of his evil smirk before answering her query, "You may get it but not before my purpose is served!" while Khushi gaped at him. "And what is that?" Khushi enquired. "You've to be the temporary Raani Saheba of Raizada family until the real owner of the throne is back." Arnav replied.
