Welcome Mrs. Shekhawat
Part (a)

Mrityunjay and Tara were quite nervous and didn't know what to talk about, and so kept quiet. Tara was remembering her mother, her eyes were teary. Mrityunjay instructed Joseph on which road to take which was not the way for Shekhawat Mansion. Dadaji was confused with this but followed Mrityunjay's car.

Tara was finding that way familiar and when the car stopped, she looked at Mrityunjay with a smile which clearly indicated her happiness with the visit to that place.

"Oh...he came to meet Tara Bahu's mom. Good!" Dadaji was happy seeing how well his grandson is in handling relationships. He followed them.

Aradhana was sitting on her bed imagining how Tara might be looking after the wedding, when the door of her room opened. Tara entered with Mrityunjay at her side. Walking with the same speed, they reached near Aradhana's bed and took her blessings. Tara was looking like a complete woman with sindoor in her maang and mangalsutra around her neck. She was looking more beautiful than what Aradhana had imagined.

"Now I don't want anything from God. He has granted my last wish..." she sobbed.

Tara wiped her tears.

"Beta you should not be here. By now you should be at Shekhawat Mansion." Aradhana was surprised with their arrival.

"How can a daughter go to her new home without meeting her mom??"
"And I also came here to introduce you to the person to whom your son is married." Mrityunjay smiled while saying this.

Hearing Mrityunjay's words, Tara's eyes were teary.
"He brought me here to meet mom!! He is so perfectly dealing with relationships." Tara's eyes were stuck on the man sitting beside her, who was now her husband. Aradhana's voice broke her trance.

"Tara, leave your old life behind, take your first step in your new life. As a daughter you have completed all your duties very well, now as a daughter-in-law and a wife do the same. I should not hear a single complain from Mrityunjay or from his Dadaji that my Tara is not completing her duties."

"Don't worry Aradhana your daughter will not let you down," said Dadaji entering the room with Dr. Fahim.
"She is a gem Aradhana. Don't worry, now your daughter is our daughter-in-law."

"It's like a dream coming true for me," said Aradhana adoring the newly married couple.
"They look like made for each other." She smiled at her thought.

With teary eyes, Tara parted from Aradhana. Aradhana bid good bye to her daughter. She slowly hummed...

~Banno re banno meri chali sasural ko
Ankhiyon mein pani de gayi
Dua mein meethi gud dhani le gayi~

Tara and Mrityunjay sat in the car. Tara was still sobbing and Mrityunjay was feeling sad for Tara. He wanted to caress her but hesitated. He gave her water and said, "Tara all will be fine from now on."

There was an assurance in his voice which made Tara feel now there is someone in this world for her too. She wiped her tears.

Welcome Mrs. Shekhawat
Part (b)

There was complete silence in the car. To change the mood, Mrityunjay started talking to Tara. He was telling her about the roads and landmarks that were coming on the way to Shekhawat Mansion. Then the car stopped in front of the huge gates of Shekhawat Mansion which opened for the car. As the car entered through the huge gates of the mansion, Tara was awestruck seeing a mesmerizing garden full of different types of flowers - red, pink, purple, etc. The car proceeded to the huge white mansion which was decorated with flowers waiting for the new member of this mansion.

Mrityunjay opened the car door for Tara, offered his hand for support for her to get down. She accepted it by slipping her hand into his. Gently holding her hand, Mrityunjay proceeded with Tara towards the main entrance where Raghu Kaka was standing, holding the pooja thali to welcome the newly wedded couple.

He was pleased seeing the simplicity of Tara. His eyes were filled with tears of happiness. The newly wedded pair was a rare sight to behold. It was a couple of the century. They were complimenting each other perfectly. Dadaji joined Raghu Kaka to welcome the new couple.

Tara seeing Dadaji and another old man standing at the door holding the pooja thali, covered her head with the saree's pallu.

Her quick switch in attire seeing the demand of the situation impressed everyone. Raghu Kaka did aarti and welcomed the new couple in the mansion.

Tara and Mrityunjay took blessings from Dadaji.

Dadaji introduced Raghu Kaka to Tara. They took blessings from him too. They proceeded towards the mandir built in the mansion. Here Raghu Kaka offered Tara a plate full of turmeric paste and asked her to put her hand prints on the wall of this temple below Nirmala's print. This was an age-old tradition of their family; each bahu has to do this when they enter this mansion for the first time. Tara did as she was instructed. Then they came back to the hall. Raghu Kaka hinted to Dadaji to allow Tara to go to her room and rest.

Dadaji said, "Tara Bahu, I think now you should go and take rest. You must be tired."

"No Dadaji, I am fine."

"I know Bahu you are fine but I am not. See my old bones get tired very quickly, so I am going to take rest. So what will you do when I am resting? I have too much to talk about with you. So take rest. Mrityunjay take her to your room." Dadaji patted Tara and she smiled seeing Dadaji's fun-loving nature.

Mrityunjay guided her way to their room. It was on the first floor of the mansion.

While climbing the stairs, Tara was trying to see the huge mansion in a single glance. Moving her head right to left and looking above and below, she tried to take it in all at once.

Mrityunjay stopped in front of a room, opened its door and said hesitatingly,
"Tara...this is our room."

She entered and gave a quick look around the room.

"Ma'am your bag," Joseph brought her bag.

Mrityunjay took the bag. "Tara this is your closet," he said keeping her bag in it.
Mrityunjay made some excuse to Dadaji saying he was going to the office but didn't go there.

In her new room, Tara arranged her wardrobe. After finishing that, she sat thinking how her life changed. Today morning she was an unmarried woman and now she was married. She looked in the mirror to see herself. She was looking very different from before. She touched her mangalsutra, then her sindoor. These two things had changed her identity from Miss to Mrs. She stood near the window, a gentle breeze caressed her face and she smiled. She watched the nearby surroundings from the window. It was a green, silent place. She also saw a stable at some distance from the mansion. The rest of the day passed with her exploring her new room.

*****

At the dinner table, Dadaji sat at the head of the table and Mrityunjay and Tara sat on either side of him. Dadaji and Mrityunjay were talking about some business deal. Tara was eating her dinner quietly, when Dadaji noticed her.

"Tara Bahu, so have you left college?"

"No Dadaji, I took one month leave, but if you want I can leave this job. I am doing this just for ..."

Before Tara could complete her sentence, Dadaji interrupted, "No need to leave this
job. You are a lecturer, it's a noble job of imparting knowledge. What do you say Mrityunjay?"

Mrityunjay's trance broke after hearing his name. He stumbled over his words and then replied, "Yes...yes... I agree with Dadaji."

*****

After dinner, Tara went to her new room. Mrityunjay was discussing company matters with Dadaji when Raghu Kaka interrupted them, "Sir you can talk to him tomorrow. Mrityunjay you go to your room, Bahu must be feeling lonely."

"You are right Raghu. Mrityunjay take this, give it to Tara Bahu. It's our ancestral tradition to give this to the newly wedded bride." Mrityunjay took a small box from Dadaji.

Today the way to his room seemed very difficult and way too short to Mrityunjay.
"What I will say?"
"What if she misunderstands me?"
"Why do I have to give her this gift?"
"Who made this tradition?"
"Can't Dadaji give this to Tara??"
"Why am I so confused?? Oh God... what to do now?"
He was standing at the door thinking all these when Raghu Kaka came there.

"Mrityunjay Beta, what you are thinking?"

"Nothing." Saying this, he entered his room. If he would have remained there for a second Kaka would have questioned him more.

Tara was standing near the window wearing a plain light pink color salwar suit. The cool night breeze was combing her open hair gently. Mrityunjay was watching her image on the dressing table's mirror which was kept in such a way that a person entering the room can see what the person standing near the window is doing.

He was amazed to see Tara, who was reminding him of a familiar image but he was not able to figure out where he had seen an image like this. As his phone rang he came out of his reverie making him aware of what he was doing ...watching her ...constantly. Tara too became aware of his presence. Mrityunjay took the call. After the call ended, he approached Tara who was still standing near the window.

"Tara..." She turned to face him.

"This is for you. Dadaji gave me. He said these are ancestral bangles and it's tradition to give it to the newly wedded bride."

Tara took the box from his hand. She opened that box. There was a pair of gold bangles richly set with precious stones. The moonlight falling on it was reflected on Tara's face, which lighted up her beautiful face.

Mrityunjay was again watching her like a lost puppy. He was mesmerized by her beauty which was enhanced by the lights of the bangles.

"It's so beautiful. And above all, it's elder's blessing." She smiled.

Mrityunjay moved his eyes away from Tara as soon as Tara's voice reached his ears.
"Em... mm...Yes...Yes." He was embarrassed for being mesmerized by her beauty.

"I think we should sleep ... The night has grown dark...and you have to go to the office tomorrow," she said examining the bed, whose left side table had Jairaj and Nirmala's picture which clearly showed it was Mrityunjay's side.

T
hey moved towards the bed. Mrityunjay stopped first to let Tara choose her side of the bed. Tara chose the right side. They wished each other goodnight and slept with their backs facing each other.
