Part - 6
The Wedding Day.
Abhi reached home early in the morning hoping that nobody would notice that he wasn't home all night but as soon as he stepped into the house he saw Pragya sleeping uncomfortably in the couch in the living room, she'd been waiting for him all night. He felt guilty for making her wait but then after a second, he felt his heart grow inside his chest to accommodate all the love he felt for her. After so long, he felt like there was someone waiting for him at home, someone looking forward to see him no matter what. And boy, was that an amazing feeling. He hadn't felt like that for long, being a rock star his family had gotten used to him being late or not coming at all so he also lost track of time on several occasions as he knew nobody will be waiting up anyway. But Pragya had. She had been up, waiting for him for God knows how long and that made him fall for her all over again. He made his way to her, he shook her slightly and she woke up with a start. She looked around confused and the look on her face made Abhi want to eat her up whole. She looked so adorable. Then she looked at him and then smiled sleepily and said, "You're here. I was waiting for you, in case you were hungry or needed something when you got home. Why are you late? Was there a problem with the album?" She asked rubbing her eyes. He felt guilty, he wanted to tell her what happened but now was not the time, he decided. "Yes, there was a problem but its all sorted now. Actually I went home after that, I guess I was feeling homesick. I am sorry I didn't call. I didn't realize you'd be waiting for me. Why didn't you sleep with Bulbul? You wanted to, right?" He said tugging her hair behind her ear lovingly. She just shrugged her shoulders and said, "I came to your room to check for you after she fell asleep,you weren't there so I figured I'll just wait for you." He looked at her for a moment and kissed her forehead and picked her up bridal style before walking up to her room. He put her on the bed and ordered her to sleep. She patted the space next to her and said, "You too. You were busy last night and I can see you haven't slept well too." Abhi just smiled and lied down next to her. She smiled back and within seconds fell asleep. He turned to look at her, Man, how'd he get so lucky. He entwined his fingers with her and fell asleep too.
He woke up after a while to find Pragya gone. He assumed she must've gone to Bulbul in the morning. He got up and got cracking. It was gonna be a busy day and after today he will be taking Pragya back to Mehra Mansion as his wife.
He came out to see Puneet struggling with some lights so he went there to help. He went up to him and held the ladder he was standing on and handed him the right wires and switches, after they were done Puneet came down, he looked at Abhi and smiled a tight smile before saying a Thank you. For Abhi that meant that slowly, steadily he might gain the same love and respect he used to get from the family. He looked up and saw Pragya taking the make up artist to Bulbul's room. Things were only getting better from now on, he thought.
Wedding night
The stage was set. The guests had started to arrive and the bride was all decked up for her big day and so was her entire family. Sarla was ecstatic. He second daughter was getting married, to the most righteous man who would look after her no matter what, she knew Bulbul loved Purab but that alliance was not going to bring any happiness to her. The guilt of destroying her sister's life, of marrying a man who was engaged to another woman, of not being able to bring her family happiness, Bulbul couldn't have coped up with all of that. She didn't need to. Suresh was the guy for her. At least this was the only relief she had when she looked at Bulbul's crestfallen face.
The energy in the hall was too high. Everyone was smiling,laughing, munching on snacks and dancing to no end but in all this excitement nobody noticed a Burkha clad figure standing in the corner of the hall seething in anger. Tannu looked up to see Abhi following that damned Chashmish like a lovesick puppy, Smiling at her, hanging on to her every word and holding her hand or her waist every time she would be talking to someone else as if showing the world who she belongs to. She was livid. How dare he? He never was so attentive to her. Yes they were intimate but he never looked at her the way he was looking at Pragya now. She had to do what she was here for, quickly before someone noticed her. She was going to wait until the wedding ended but what she saw next made her blood boil. Abhi took Pragya's hand and took her to a corner, she followed them and saw him close the bedroom door before entering. She stood there for 10 minutes but it felt like eternity after which they came out. He just held her hand and kissed her hair after which Pragya blushed before going back to the hall. That's it, Tannu thought, this needs to end.
Abhi was ecstatic. He had wanted to talk to Pragya before the ceremony started after that she'd be too busy and he didn't want to wait so he took her to the room and asked her if she wanted to come home. She was confused at first but then she nodded looking down. He held her cheek in his palm to make her look at him and told her to say it out loud, and she did, only after blushing a million shades of red and his happiness knew no bounds, he had finally got his happily ever after.
Aaliya had been waiting for Tannu to come. They had the whole plan to destroy Chashmish and it was going to happen after Bulbul's wedding. She didn't want any hindrance to that. This marriage needs to happen so she can have Purab and give both the Arora sisters a lifetime of sorrows. She saw Tannu go backstage, she got confused, why so early? Maybe to bribe the DJ and manager. Or maybe to set things in place. Whatever it was she couldn't care less, she just knew that Tannu had what she needed and in a few hours they'll both get what they wanted.
Tannu went backstage and saw that the guy who was supposed to man the projector was away for Tea. This was the perfect opportunity, after this she is going to have to bribe and beg people. This is the only time she can do it on her own, Aaliya could go to hell, Purab isn't marrying her anyway. She looked through the curtain and saw Bulbul and Suresh seated on their respective places and Abhi and Pragya standing next to the stage,the projector was currently playing love songs. "Pffft.. If only they knew how much love actually is in this wedlock.." She smiled sardonically before connecting the pen drive to the projector. "Well, time to enjoy the show" she put the video to be played after the current song, so she can see the look on everyone's faces when it really starts.
Abhi stood there with Pragya greeting guests, smiling at all of these people. He remembered the last time he was there. He stood at Suresh's place, if Suresh was sad today, he was livid, angry at Pragya, a girl who knew nothing about the reason he was marrying her, a girl who had dreams of a normal life, a simple family and he crushed them all. He just looked at her smiling at someone and thought of all the things he'd do to compensate all the time he wasted, he will make sure she forgot all of the bad memories and they'll make new ones, beautiful ones. He held her hand, she looked at him slightly surprised, he just smiled and she held his hand back, squeezing it a little and that made him grin. He was looking around when he saw a lady coming towards them, she was wearing a burkha. He was about to greet her when she raised the cloth off of her face. He froze. Why was she here? "Hi Pragya.. Congratulations for your sister's wedding." She said and saw Pragya flinch, he was about to ask her what she was up to when he heard it, Tannu's voice, but it was coming from behind him.. What? All the guests along with His and his wife's family looked at the screen.
I love you Abhi and I know you love me to, that's why you were with me even when you were married to that Pragya. Hell, you spent your Suhaagraat with me Abhi, then what happened baby? Our plan was going fine, you married Pragya because we thought Purab loved her. We didn't know he loved Bulbul. We tortured her everyday because you wanted it. You wanted to avenge your sister's broken heart. Otherwise you would have never married that behenji.." "Tannu please don't.." "No Abhi, you said so yourself, so many times, even to her that she was not your type, that she was just a gold digger, Aliya, you and I did so much to make her life living hell then what happened suddenly? What do you want now Abhi? Tell me.. I'll do anything you want me to.. Please don't leave me.." Abhi was about to speak when she interrupted again, " You know what, I did so much for you and your sister, Pragya had nothing to do with me and still I was so mean to her because you hated her Abhi. You hated her so much, so I did too, not because of who she is but because she hurt our Aliya and she hurt you Abhi. Does it not count? Our love meant the world to you Abhi then what happened. I trusted you so much Abhi. After your marriage we had so less time together and still you'd make me feel so loved. I meant the world for you Abhi, did something change? Did I do something wrong Abhi? Tell me I'll change.. I'll do anything for you Abhi. Please.. " "No Tannu, you didn't do anything. I loved you so much and yes, I married Pragya for all the wrong reasons. It was a misunderstanding. She didn't even know what happened. And bore everything, but Tannu it wasn't for money it was because of her mother Tannu. She .."
And the video ended. He looked up at Tannu smirking at him and then he felt it, Pragya's hand leaving his, he felt as if his entire existence had come to a stop. Then, he heard screams.
"Maa.."
"Sarla.."
"Aunty ji.."
Suresh caught Sarla before she could hit the ground. "Somebody call an ambulance!" He heard someone yell.
