That would be great - however debates should be done intellectually.
Here are the set of rules I use at my bodybuilding website (www.bodybuildingforyou.com) in the debates section.
Everyone,
Now that this forum is available for having debates/discussions on anything as long as it adheres to the TOS, maybe a few things to keep in mind to keep it mature and unlocked:
- NO FLAMING - This includes cursing/swearing to your opponent or calling them names.
- KEEP A COOL HEAD - This is the Internet, not life & death. No matter how annoyed or pissed you get, don't resort to flaming and don't let your emotions come into play - use facts (and make sure you can back them up ) If a discussion upsets you a lot, just leave or don't post anything until you can calm down.
- OTHERS CAN JOIN IN - as long as they read through what happened already and not re-introduce subjects that are already in play, build on them if you want with new info or a new perspective.
I moderate that 1 section very heavily as well as neutrally there because there are 2 other sections for general chat as well as an 'enter at your own risk' section for just talking garbage. Any member that does not adhere to the rules of that section is given 3 warnings and then a temporary ban from that section however are still allowed in the rest of the sections.
In regards to moderation though - it cannot be biased - it has to be neutral. Even at my site, there are mods that ban and warn members just because they don't like them personally, yet when another member does the same thing - they let it slip. If you want a debate, you can't have that biased attitude from the mods here.
If something similar could be done here, it would be great.
