Major flaws in characterisation

Here I am talking of the kids characterisation. I have given up on correcting the elders.
SALIM- In real life Salim was a multifaceted character no one can guess what this prince will do next
an unpredictable human being.
Why was he unpredictable and complex?
He loved animals very much but loved hunting too
He loved his wine but banned drinking as soon as he became emperor
He could kill a groom for distracting his hunting but was known as adil padshah a just emperor as he could punish even own family for offences like commoners
He was a Casanova in the sense could enjoy many ladies company but could be a totally devoted husband too to his wives like nur jahan
He did not want Khurram marrying mumtaz a commoner(Or was there another reason to delay their wedding) but himself went against his father to marry commoners like sahib jamal and nur jahan
He loved animals and painting and nature but also was a good warrior
He could not bear to see his servant fall off a cliff and had a heart attack but could stand and watch the most brutal torture on enemies
He was perhaps only one with an audacity and braveness to challenge Akbar and go against his diktats not only in family but in entire Mughal empire
He was quiet frank on judging other human and his follies in his autobiography
The real Salim was an artistic person by nature who loved flowers, nature, birds, painting, wrote good poetry, animals and also was a curious person curious about from where lion got its strength or why soil fertility is better in gujarath than agra etc, he was basically interested in arts and culture and nature and experimenting etc much more than being a warrior though if required he could be a ruthless warior too
But here this kid Salim is being shown so scared of daddy, he bluffs a lot and is so aloof and unprincely attitude. How this kid will grow up to become every parents nightmare child Salim is a big question mark?
MURAD- Murad was a middle child and am sure like most middle kids not given that much importance as the eldest and youngest boy in family Salim and Daniyal
Also there is one incident about Murad which speaks volumes about his nature. Murad was sent to handle some rebellion issue and the Mughal commanders were not listening to him much as he was very younger than them. So he wrote a letter to Akbar about it and then he had to send someone senior to handle it. Another incident again talks of his inability to handle some issue and this time its Salim to his rescue to ensure the commanders on ground obey Murad. And Murad definetly loved his wine, song and women.
Here Murad is shown as quiet brave, commanding type. He is even shown anti authority be it dad or elder brother or mother. Why he even scolded Rahim and rebuffed him lol 😕 So how will this Murad turn out n serial is a mystery but as per history and his serial avatar are quiet different
DANIYAL- Daniyal was definetly the pampered one of the lot. Salim was sent to war field as early as 7 years and by 11-12 commanded an independent mission, Murad was in war field during Hakim crisis with Salim and Akbar. But wonder of wonders Daniyal comes into the war related aspects quiet late. He was the typical youngest boy soft, sweet, good natured, was pampered and got responsibilities quiet late in life unlike a Salim or even an Murad. But he was again a free natured guy went against dad and married a hindu widow. And obviously his helper was the lover boy of family Salim.
Here to some extent history Daniyal matches the serial Daniyal quiet carefree and enjoying good things of life.
QUTUB- The milk brother of Salim was quiet close to Salim and hand held and helped Salim in many matters so much so that when he was killed Salim felt handicapped and lonely.
Currently his character is not coming across correctly lets see what happens during anarkai fiasco etc
HAIDER- This boy is Adham Khan part2. He shall create all sorts of problem to Salim during anarkali and later on fights with Akbar for sure. He is like Shakuni on Mahabharat waiting to create misunderstanding and fights.
This is a fictional character so cannot predict future actions based on history
Currently I think CVs are messing up with Salim making him too goody goody and later rebel no 1 in Mughal empire and Murad as too villainy villainy and later on who knows what?

That happens its like nowadays parents want kids to be doctor or engineer but kids may pass them first class but then take profession of their choice and become actor or painter etc

Parents want kids to grow as per their dreams although the child may not be interested in becoming that. With Salim he got so bored of becoming a king that he just handed the day to day mundane ruling to nur jahan and khurram in the last 10-12 years of his life. That reason could also be ill health but majorly he was bored of going to battles, expanding kingdom, making laws etc and enjoyed his passion for arts etc the last few years of his life
So Akbar may send him to battles and make him a great warrior but for how long? Ultimately if person has no inclination once Akbar is no more and there is someone Salim can trust the empire with like a nur jahan or shah jahan he will do that and devote time to things he likes ultimately.
Salim basically burnt out young, if you start young you burn out fast in any profession or lose interest.

how beautifully you described this dear
and your words i can find myself in them
and you are perfectly right that saleem is not at all showing any interest in jalal's queries..he is rather being forced...may be pressurised to do so...as we grow up we realise how life is and the struggles that accompany it...we are bound to do things mainly to make our parents proud..because it is their wish but most of the time not ours! and this is exactly the case for saleem...

Dear u r talking of d character of the kids! The leads character is butchered beyond repair. Jodha's trait of standing up fr justice no matter against whom also is gone down the drain. She could have used her power being muz. But she accepted injustice and ruks order. What in d babe if God is happening with the show ?

myviewprem - Serial got me interested in Akbar - Your Posts are making Jahangir/Salim very interesting - He has indeed been a very different Mughal Prince and emperor. Infact each one of them is so different from Babur to Aurangezeb. Thanks for this post - I liked it but there is always a question in my mind about RUKS, Salima's influence on his life - I think his upbringing must have been given to Timur Princesses by Akbar as he considers his clan to be most superior. Do you have any info on that ?
Now coming to serial, DO NOT EXPECT anything even 10% closer to history - Tell me one character in the entire serial who was more or less closer to History ? I can only think of one - Bairam Khan - Not Quite , but close enough. REST ALL IS BAKWAAS - What comes to their mind each week, they write the crap - Otherwise I cannot understand sudden docileness of Jodha. She seems to have met with an accident and lost a major portion of her memory.
