Let's be realistic. How much of a role has Abhas played on the show?
For a member of the Khandelwal family, he has been a background character while other characters have had much better characterizations. I know a lot more about the supporting characters such as Vikram, Anjali, Savri and Bauji than I do about Abhas. And that is quite surprising given that he is a member of the main family.

I made another topic not too long ago in which the discussion was about Abhas being a clear indicator of the middle child syndrome. And it was quite accurate because he was very underutilized on the show. So by taking him off of it, the actor will get a chance to be a part of a new show in which he will be able to show his skills because Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya was not the place for him to be taken seriously.
