My oh my she is beautiful' Armaan thought to himself as he saw her being brought downstairs by her mother.
It was a family meeting of sorts for an arranged marriage between two business magnets Shashank Gupta, of steel fame, and Billy Malik, of cotton textiles fame.
And this meeting was to sort of fix an already made arrangement by them years ago.
But being the modern parents they wanted their kids to have a say in it as well and hence the meet was organized today.
She greeted everyone as she came and sat down next to her dad. Her dad proudly introduced her to his friend Billy and likewise Billy did for Armaan. After a while, the elders decided to give the two kids a chance to talk.
She appeared so demure, he thought she would have no voice, and that though she was beautiful she might lack a personality.
As soon as they were alone, she relaxed
Seeing her relaxed composure, he felt that there is more to this girl for sure...
"Hi My name is Riddhima Gupta and how are you Armaan"
Armaan, she called him by his name directly, impressive' he thought...
"Very well Ms. Gupta, how about you?"
"Lets cut the crap you and I we both know why we are here and I understand that but just so you know... I don't really believe in dad's philosophy of them as friends turning into family members... I mean sure it's a good thing but.. then... listen.. I am already in love with someone... And we intend to be married... I just want your help in rejecting me so that my dad would then look at him"
He sat back relaxed in his chair "Your dad is very cool, why don't you just tell him upfront" he asked
"I was going to but then he set up a meet already with Billy uncle... and trust me If I had a way I would have already thought of it by now..." she said...
The mother came and then asked the kids whether they were done talking...
They agreed or rather she agreed he followed suit...
When they came downstairs the parents continued their discussion and then they left...
Later at night Shashank Gupta received a phone call and he was all smiles as it ended...
He called Padma to himself and said " Congratulations Padma. Our daughter is to be married to Billys son."
Padma was happier than ever...
Riddhima heard this from the back...
She fumed Why in the world did he agree to marry me after I told him outright what I wanted... that jerk'
...
