Won't work with David Dhawan: Govinda

Govinda and David Dhawan, once a hit pair that churned out blockbusters films like Coolie No. 1 (1995), Deewana Mastana (1997) and Haseena Maan Jaayegi (1999), among others, have now drifted apart to such an extent that they haven't even spoken to each other in four years. Govinda reveals that he was hurt by the director's actions.

In fact, the actor reveals that he had even given Dhawan the idea to make Chashme Buddoor (2013) back in 2009. "Suddenly, I got to know that Rishi Kapoor is doing my role. I never get upset with David because we have worked in so many films that we are used to quarrelling. But this time, we had a fight. I was like, You didn't even tell me'," says Govinda, adding, "I feel, this is how the film industry works. Personally, even if I can't work with you because your time isn't right, I'd still like to maintain a relationship with you."

The actor shares that he doesn't see himself working with Dhawan again. "I never go against my heart. If I work with him, I know it will take me three-four days just to get normal. Wherever you have expectations, you get hurt. It's in my nature," says Govinda.

However, the 50-year-old actor maintains that he doesn't hold any grudges against the director he has done 17 films with. "I am hurt. But I am not blaming him. He must have his own reasons. He might be feeling, How do I meet him if I can't offer him work?' But my thinking is, one should say clearly that We can't work together, so I can't give you work. But let's meet, talk'," says Govinda. We tried contacting David, but he was unavailable for a comment.
