Between MaNan- That diwali party night under the stars it started as
Manik:
You know for the first time someone is equally beautiful as the star. Like the star and it's you.
(Song)
Manik: don't know what happens to me, in your presence I change.

Then the chase, followed be serious discussion about Cabir.

And when he is walking away he throws her dhupatta on her head and leaves.

I was just trying to digest Manik being poetic, playful and baleful.
And the Manik shows this original (read as initially original) self.

If I were Nandu I would be wary of the guy. He is so mercurial.

What did you expect him to do after finding out that Raghav who is their professor who is 15 years older is dating his teenage friend in a relationship that can destroy them?

Its one thing to criticise, but criticism has to come with some logic, honestly speaking. How would you expect people to react? It is a big deal.

Unpredictability is a charming trait in a person (or so I believe) and a certain Manik Malhotra going all poetic would be so MEH!

I've seen so-called 'Angry young men' on screen turning outright Romeos once they fall in love, isn't it a good thing that this person is breaking convictions?

And perhaps it's his 'mercurial nature' itself for which Nandini has fallen.

Acha ? Toh what should he have done after hearing about his friend going through an emotional roller coaster cuz of their pedo proff ? Make out with Nandu again ? Bedroom necking encore by the poolside ? Uska duppatta uspe nahin phenke ga toh kya apna pajaama utaar ke phenke ga ?!
Is that your version of Ideal Manik ?

Newsflash : Manik is not ideal. He is realistic.

Throwing the dupatta was Manik's way of saying .. Okay darling we'll pick up where we left off , but now is not a good time, laterz love, now I gotta go save my friends arse. Cuz that's what ppl do. PRIORITIZE a crisis over playing around !

Thoda lassi piyo behen, upar ka maala garam lagta hai. Ek baar dimaghi tawazum theek ho jaye toh sab samajh mein ajayega.

I don't understand why you people become so defensive.
Please read through my write up. It does not criticize or judge the Manik character. It was just an observation.

I joined this forum to share my views and read yours as they were beautiful.

But of late the stand against anyone who write anything remotely less flattering about Manik is brutal.
In your own words you are saying Manik is not ideal, then what is wrong about me making observation about his less than ideal bebhaviour, mind you that it is not criticism.

I know at least one person who has left this forum because of this change in attitude.

I had joined the forum because I loved the show and the show became even more lovable because of the discussions on this forum. Started making posts because of a post in IF which said as many active posts will make the show more popular.

I don't make posts on MaNan. There are many who write beautifully about them and others who obsess over them. I try to make posts which highlight other aspects of the show and views.

It seems this forum is no longer open for different views.
Thank you very much for the warm hospitality.

P S: if a guy sprouts poetry at one moment and throw a thing on my face before going just because he was stressed about something, I would in the least kick him on his ass. So may be I don't emphasize with you all.

I asked you for logic, if as a human being, you can't understand the seriousness of a situation, what is the point of emotional maturity? He sprouted poetry because he was in the moment with her. He got angry and mad because of what it means, if the truth comes, out.

I think you are far too defensive, because when I asked for logic, you gave us anything but logic.
Criticism becomes only valid , when is accompanied by critical logic, otherwise, everyone can read the bias.

If Manik is criticised, with the validity of logic, no one including us will be able to dismiss it, otherwise the whole construct of the argument becomes a farce.

I rather stand by a man who is worried about his friend facing the prospect of a situation, than be with someone who cannot understand and judge situations by the seriousness of it.

Lets keep aside Manik for the sake of humouring this post.
@TM - and understand a basic human instinct, if anyone in their happier times hear about something devastating that might shatter the world of their loved ones , what would be the most primitive reaction . Especially if it affects our family? Would anyone ever be able to enjoy the mood or stay in it. Won't the urge be to make sure family is safe and sound? Does that mean, disrespecting the company especially when it is aware of the grave situation.

Nandini avoided telling him about Raghav because she was expecting him to be upset, she knew it. So i doubt she was surprised or offended by it. At that point , her concern was if he would be able to grasp hold of himself.

Here Manik was sharing his pain about Cabir and his trouble, he was pouring his heart out about them( the poetry ended a while back, they both were together and discussing Cabir). This made Nandu tell him about Raghav, because she recognized the inner turmoil he was facing. The information that was puzzling to Manik at that moment was provided by her. So she anticipated it, understood that it is better to reveal than hide and could sympathize with his helplessness.

There was a scene between Nandu and Dhruv , she didn't even compliment him about his make-over initially because her thoughts were pre-occupied with the spike drama. For that moment, should be judge her as a lousy friend because she should have prioritized her friend first or understand that there is bigger problem that needed her immediate attention . Similarly Nandu, like some of us, understood that compared to his merry -time with Nandu , his presence and his frustrations about Cabir were legit and needed his immediate response.
I would have agreed with his mercurial behavior if he didn't defend her or extend his hand when she fell down while searching the pen for Shahid. That would have been concerning , this one comes from expected understandable road.
