The doctor who visits Kyunki sets
Amit Tandon's (Manthan of Kyunki) wife Dr. Ruby (a dermatologist) is often present on the sets of the serial to support her husband. We caught up with Mrs. Tandon to find out more about her experiences on the sets of Kyunki.
"Since we got married I have visited the sets so many times that I've lost count. One of the most memorable visits however was during Holi. Everyone on the set was enjoying the spirit of Holi. After that however I've only visited him occasionally during his lunch break when we would sit and talk for around two hours," reveals Ruby, who completed her studies from the University of Chicago.
She adds that although she tries to visit Amit as much as she can his erratic shooting hours prohibit her from doing so. "I try to meet him during the day but avoid going on location during the night shoots as I find that area a little scary."
Being a regular visitor to the sets, Ruby has made a new group of friends too. She says, "Everyone there is really friendly. I really get along well with Bhoomi (Reshmii Ghosh), Archita (Gunjan), KT (Mouni Roy) and Joydeep (Manav Vij), who is like a brother to me. We just chat about new movies or sometimes Reshmii and Gunjan come and discuss their medical problem with me especially concerning hair fall."
According to Ruby, the character her husband plays is a far cry from his real life nature. "Amit and Manthan are both extreme characters. Manthan is very rude and flamboyant while Amit is very sweet and gentle." Her knowledge of Kyunki however only stretches so far as she admits to not being an avid watcher of the show, "Since I don't really have much to do here in Mumbai I tune in when I'm a little bored or when Amit is on the show. Apart from that however I don't watch it regularly."
Ruby also doesn't share the same acting aspirations as her husband. "All of Amit's costars ask me when I will start acting but it's really not my department. I'm happy with what I'm doing right now."
As for her medical plans, she says that nothing is finalized but she is considering working here. She explains, "I've been meeting up with people from a couple of clinics and hopefully something will work out by August."
For the time being however, Dr. Ruby is enjoying being Amit's source of inspiration and both are eagerly awaiting the release of his forthcoming album Mera Dil.
